ZZounds just had these in stock for like 2 days. I picked up and orange one. I’m so glad I did. It’s such a high quality instrument. My wife is super pissed I bought yet another guitar but it’s worth the temporary shit.
Right on Man! I want one more an a little myself. Orange. Killer. Any issues with sharp fret edges? I figure one could file them down oneself if need be.
Great demo! The idea of a single coil sized bucker in the neck is because a 24-fret neck moves the pickup closer to the bridge. The smaller pickup increases the distance from the bridge again, so it sounds more like a neck pickup on a 22-fret guitar. The blades reduce and even out magnetic drag on the strings. Right, I'm off to polish my anorek... Keep up the great work!
That's true, even with side by side mini coils, and especially with stacked coils. I've never tried a Firebird-style mini humbucker in the neck. Might be interesting...
I just love these RG Genesis reissues. I have the original RG-550DX Laser Blue from the 90s. So when the Genesis line came out, I was able to get the Genesis Purple Neon--- I wish I was able to get the White and the reissued Laser Blue. This RG565 might be something worth considering. I kick myself for not being able to get the Genesis RG550DX LB. Thanks for this awesome review, Henning.
The blade humbucker is a great idea on 24 fret guitars. It gets that neck pickup further from the bridge to be more like where it would sit on a 22 fret guitar. It sounds a bit more "necky!"
@@EytschPi42 ha! I was expecting that and you didn't disappoint 🤣 the guitar is stunning, splendid, spectacular, imposing, magnificent axe-inspiring 🤘 cheers!
I have the Genesis Rg 570 i Jewel blue because of this guy when he reviewed the 550. I loved the 550's back in the day but I have a lot of Rg's w/ the pickguard, I wanted the solid body version so went w/ the 570. I happened to get the very last one ZZ Sounds had in stock, when they were discontinued.. not sure why but very good guitar, I play it more than any other from my collection. But ever since they started re-re-releasing the 550's etc under Genesis i've been writing Ibanez and commenting on their YT channels often asking when are they going to release re-re-release the 565 under genesis. And finally we have it. The only thing Ibanez keeps forgetting is what helped make those original Rg's so popular was of course the build but also all the cool colors that were available. The sticking to just two colors with this and the two worst colors to boot. :( Not very happy with that, but everyone will find something they don't like. But, I'll probably end up getting one in the EG. cause the orange is just to traffic cone looking for my taste. Had they released these in Candy Apple, Laser Blue, Black or like they did with the original 560's offer them in lipstick red, Violet pearl, grape ice.. that would have been killer.. I'd have to buy a few. just for the different assortment of colors. And I have more issues keeping a Floyd set up and in tune than I do w/ the Edge.
Nice review, as usual! And it's also nice to see that even Ibanez has trouble getting their names right. Shouldn't this model be called RG"R"565, because it has a reversed headstock? 😂 😂 😂
Nice to see Henning wearing hearing protection; too many musicians do not adequately protect their ears. They look like the foam ones though, so you might benefit from using some Etymotic ear plugs since they have a much flatter response than your standard foam plugs. I like Etymotic in particular because they have a very strong emphasis on the use of sound science rather than using marketing to push nonsense.
I had air norton S (with blades) and air norton full sized humbucker, they sounded totaly different I must say, so it's not just the aesthetics. I wish they put air norton S in this guitar.
I believe the "blade" pickup is for sound quality because it has 24 frets. JS explains it on his signature guitars. This guitar sounds like a JS guitar. Great video by the way!
I like the color. The inlays. The tremolo. The pickups. The maple fretboard. That thing has a lot going for it. Haven’t heard the price yet... 999? I like the price. Sexy.
I bought a yellow 25th anniversary reissue second hand a couple years back for like 600 bucks - some of the best money I ever spent. If Ibanez put one out in neon pink, I'll buy a new one as well 😁
They need to remake more of these... this is what Ibanez once was all about and I sometimes get the impression, they forget where they came from... People want these! Pls do Ibanezz!!
The guitar looks actually distinctly 90s with the color and the matching dot-inlays. And it was actually released in 91-92. Beautiful guitar. I ordered a RG550 Genesis, though. Still have to wait either until end of the month or even to mid-march until it will be delivered. I'm dying! #1stworldproblems
Hey man can you confirm for me? So I just went down to my local shop to order a couple 565s (both colors) and a 550PN. Henning, you nutty bastard, you're so funny. You whine at the start about the Floyd locking nut being such a pain [it's really not if you know what you're doing]. Then a little later, after some stupifying whammy bar abuse and flutter freak out session, you're blown away that the guitar is still perfectly in tune. DUH!!! Yeah...try that on a non-locking trem. I dare you. XD :P
It is so disappointing it is 24 frets and not 22 with this particular pickup config. This with a Paf Pro and an HS3 would be my go to shredding machine.

The frets are like that on all the genesis models. It's one of the reasons a Japanese guitar from the fujigen factory costs under £1000. And no case.

The reason for a humbucker in single coil form in the neck is to emulate the humbucker sound of a 22 fret guitar.
Why?
