I found her this year, and I still can't get up off the floor.

I have known about her for ten years now through my daughter who lets me know what she has found and knows what I like.Karen Dalton influenced Bob Dylan and now my hero Nick Cave. I wish more people could hear her voice. So original.

I had the same reaction pure beauty and all human emotions are evoked by her sound and the brilliant music. But her voice cry's and is beauty at the same time. Yes utterly perfect!!! Thanks

The first time I heard that song I kept hitting repeat again and again like a junkie having received that perfect hit. I like Nick's explanation to my response even if I didn't have the philosophical chops to understand that was what was happening to me at the time.

She’s incredible, just like Nick Cave! She’s also Bob Dylan’s favourite singer!

She really does take your breath away! I just finished all of her recordings. Same feeling as Mr. Cave. As if I have been crying, the resolution and lightness of breathing. Her voice is truely cathartic, it aligns with the songs she sings. “My heart is a jackhammer drilling, tearing up the pavement of people’s lives. Muscle contracting trying to contain the pieces. Behind my eyes the throbbing warns.” Looking forward to see the doc!

This same song just came up on a random Spotify list when I was driving and I had the same experience as Nick Cave, though admittedly not as cool. Had to pull the car in and use my magic phone to find out more about her. Such an amazing and talented life. Some musicians are just a few yea4s ahead of their time. Pity the likes of Bob Dylan or Fred Neil couldn't bring her on their journey or at least promote them like Kurt Cobain did with Daniel Johnston

Pity you don't know more of her actual story. She was the reason she didn't make more of a splash and isn't more well known. She was her own worst enemy; to the point of refusing to record her own songs and only recording covers; thereby insuring only a measly return from any records she actually sold. Putting anything on Dylan or Neil is just lame. And Dylan spoke to plenty of people about Dalton. You're out of the loop on this one, Flanny.

Crying to this song and Hammond Town by The Roches are rites of passage

Could be the only song that should never be re - interpreted ...recorded or even performed by anybody else.

It's a good song. Good lyrics and melody by the talented Dino Valenti. Clever, original take on the idea. Dalton had a uniqe voice, certainly. The violin at the end is a nice touch as well. But I'm not pulling the car over for it or calling it 'perfect'. Bit dramatic, Nick. But that's kinda Nick, isn't it?

He has been making me cry for different reasons with his new conservative God bothered persona.
