    @Balila_balbal_loki 2 года назад +8

    The continuous trap monster "Angel statue azurune" that negates special summon(s) should have been on this list tbh. It's basically a solemn strike but as spell speed 2 by destroying any continuous trap monster in the monster zone that was summoned from the spell/trap zone to negate the summon including itself. Being lvl 4 also helps with control decks like guru or traptrix who would be able to use her and another lvl 4 monster to make galliant granite to search either nibiru the primal being or king of the heavenly prison. If she gets destroyed by battle you get to destroy the monster that attacked her or she attacked into and with her stats as a monster 1800atk/def main deck normal summons of many decks except a few like dinos cannot beat over her.
    The card can actually be splashed in any deck since she can pop herself and not specifically a deck centered around trap monsters and since it negate multiple summons it can stop a whole pendulum summon of 5 on it's own.

    • @djkates1916
      @djkates1916 2 года назад +27

      That's not what the ruling update did. What changed in the ruling update was that Trap monsters that include the text "This card is also still a Trap" no longer take up the Spell/Trap Zone they were using after they are Summoned. So, let's say, for example, that you have an Embodiment of Apophis set in your middle Spell/Trap Zone. Under the previous rules, you would Special Summon the Embodiment of Apophis to the Monster Zone of your choice, but your middle Spell/Trap Zone would still be treated as occupied. Under the updated rules, that middle Zone would no longer be considered occupied, so you could put a new Spell/Trap card there if you wanted to. Even with the update, though, you can still destroy that Embodiment of Apophis with (for example) MST.

      @@djkates1916 Ruling question, if you know: So in old rulings, if you Book of Moon'd a Trap Monster it'd go back to the S/T Zone, which is the main reason you needed a space for one. Does that mean that Trap Monsters are now more like Tokens/Link Monsters where they're just immune to the effects of cards that flip monsters face-down? Or is there an edge case there, like, do they go back to S/T but only if there's space?

    • @djkates1916
      @djkates1916 2 года назад +10

      @@theoreticallyinsane5 If a Trap Monster (that is still a Trap when it becomes a monster, such as Embodiment of Apophis) is flipped face-down (such as by Book of Moon), it will stop being a monster, and it will be placed in an available Spell/Trap Zone, or if there is none, it will be sent to the GY by game mechanics. Note that this does not apply for Traps that stop being Traps when they become monsters, such as the Paleozoics. For those cards, they can still be flipped face-down, and will still be monsters when that happens. If they are later flipped face-up again, they will again have the monster characteristics specified in their text.

    Gotta say my favorite deck to run in Duel Links was Paleozoic trap monsters, Odion's skill did 200 burn damage per trap activated. DL only had canadia, and a few other less good paleozoics who's names I can't remember, such as the one that could return a banished card to the GY, discard 1 paleozoic to draw 2, and the one to increase a monster's atk/def by 500 for a turn. I ran those as well as jar of greed and accumulated fortune, but the kicker of the deck was Amulet of Ambition and wetlands, along with Dewdark of the ice barrier, which could attack directly with 2400 if wetlands was up and could go into level 6 syncros with 2 other paleos on the board.

    Just to add, Metal reflect slime in the anime was fused with Revial jam to make the God slime monster, as well as all its support coming from mariks other cards used in the anime, since marik used slimes.

    I do remember Metal Reflect Slime tho, back in the day we sided Beast King Barbaros, and extra Gemini sparks in hero city decks to get over it because we couldn't run it over normally.

    To note, Trap monsters are no longer removable via S/T removal since they no longer take up spots in both the backrow and monster zone.

    • @BloodrealmX
      @BloodrealmX 2 года назад +3

      Actually, it depends whether the removal specifies a Spell/Trap card or a card in the Spell/Trap Zones. They're still treated as Traps even when they're in the Monster Zones.

    I guess another thing to note about Metal Reflect Slime is it's ludicrous level for how "easy" it is to bring out. An almost free Lvl 10 monster, you could use it for Rituals as basically a 1 card Ritual engine, or just use two of them to bring out a Rank 10 Xyz Monster.
    Even then, I doubt it would be too insane. But the possibilities it makes just because of it's high level alone is nothing to scoff at.

    Fun fact:
    Conquistador, Huaquero and Guardian are all in Spanish. Guardian's spelling is identical from Spanish to English. In addition, Huaquero is actually from Colombia, Argentina, Peu, Bolivia and the like. It makes a reference to thieves that would pilfer historical (often prehispanic) sites.

    It is pronounced "brig-an-deen".
    ("Brig" as in "send 'em to the brig")
    (Also a brigandine, is a type of chestplate comprised of small layers plates of metal, with cloth riveted to the front of it)

    Could've added that Metal Reflect Slime kinda got Metamorphosis banned for being able to summon Cyber End Dragon, a Level 10 fusion monster, and bypass it's tricky requirements (before we had the extra support like Core, Drei, etc.). A two card combo to get a 4000 beatstick with piercing battle damage in the early days was a problem.

    Okay so, I was wondering...
    See, I just got back into Magic the Gathering (hold on, I'm going somewhere with this), and I've come across a card that I really enjoy. It's called Thousand Year Storm, and what it does is that it casts a copy of any sorcery (equivalent of a Normal Spell Card) or instant (imagine a Quick Play Spell Card that you can play from your hand on your opponent's turn as well as your own) for every sorcery or instant that was cast that turn. Eg. I cast two instants, a sorcery, and then another instant, the second instant activates twice, the sorcery activates three times, and the last instant activates four times.
    Thousand Year Storm is also expensive to cast, meaning that you'll be wanting to cast it on the tenth turn or so to take advantage.
    What I'm asking is would a similar effect to TYS be possible in Yugioh, what would the activation cost be, and how would it change the metagame?

    I'll tell you how good Paliozoics where back in 2017.
    My Friend Cooper Owen got 20th at a YCS with Paliozoics and Frogs deck running "Toadally Awesome" at 3 copies.
    I was playing the new Zoodiac Engine with Kaijus in the mix and got 39th behind him. I would've got top 20 also, but my final opponent was a zoodiac mirror match and I ran out of resources game 3 and lost a close one.
    But my last match loss was super sweet due to my 2nd game. I went first and my opponent dropped Maxx "C" on me. I then summoned a manticore of darkness, sent it to the grave, got another one, popped it with my Drident, and started an infinite loop to deck out my opponent for my only match win.
    When we called a judge over to check the legality of the play, judge says to my opponent 'he got you good man!" and to me he says "how long you been playing?" I told the truth that I'd been playing 3 months. He was like "damn! somebody learns fast!"

    Eldlich may be as splashable as Invoked, maybe more, but the amount of support it grants to Zombie decks is even more insane. Everyone knows it can make Zombie World even more powerful
    As a relatively new player however, my very first functional deck was Mayakashi Bone Tower, and so splashing Eldlich into that made it tons more competitive for what it can do
    It granted more board presence to an extremely fragile OTK strategy, but also let me easily search out my missing combo pieces, as all Mayakashis and Soul Absorbing Bone Tower were zombies
    Funny enough, before I even got into yugioh, I was given only two physical cards as a gift: Mine Mole and Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower. It's oddly fitting how one is a generic type support and the other is an OTK enabler, which led into my very first competitively viable casual deck being an OTK supported by a generic type support
