I love how you do a little hop to get all your petticoats in order. But what is just the best is to see how happy your dresses make, like in this video where you say “I love this dress!” and are so happy through the rest of your video. I love that feeling. It’s so special. It’s so wonderful you get it and share so much of it with the rest of us.
As reinactors we call that a "hoop jump"!
@@hainstol I love it too, was about to comment how eagerly I wait for it every time! 😁
I like the jumping around on rocks but demonstrating that these clothes weren’t as restrictive as they’re often portrayed as long as you know what you’re doing.
Isabella contemplates her life's choices over 3 tiny buttons. Gets one. Good enough. 😂 I love the twirl factor of this dress. Absolutely stunning. So much fun. ❤
I love how this style of crinoline makes your gowns more jaunty when you walk. This is a beautiful dress!
Jaunty is a word used for men
@@Patrick3183 not necessarily! It does look jaunty in my opinion.
@@Patrick3183 I never heard that! In fact, I've heard it applied to women as much or more so than to women.
jaunty
adjective
Having or expressing a buoyant or self-confident air.
Sprightly; lively.
Stylish.
I'd say you meet all qualifications for jaunty.
Love the rich jewel tones and detailing and how she brings it to life with the rock climb and twirls. Shows they were not the stiff repressive set pieces of pictures but active garments on dynamic women.
I don't care how many times I need to say it: 1860s is underated.
In what way? Don’t forget the underbelly, the workhouse, the poverty, the child labour, the sexism the racism the child mortality rate……that’s only the start….as beautiful as a wealthy persons of the 1860s may be underrated is not how I feel about a dark time
@@Steampunksaly This is obviously about the fashion?
@@Steampunksaly ¡Aguafiestas!
This can be said of many eras ...industrialism and low- payed factory labor into the early 1900's,1970's drug abuse ,1980's,90's,00's denial of stay at home moms, inhibition of reproductive rights , and so on...
Puritans and Quakers/Shakers generally contradictory to wasteful opulent extravagant shows of clothing, but even these were more suited to European weather rather than north american. Organic clothing still shows more considerateness even nowadays.
Hands down some of the best fashion years of all time
That is a fascinating dress.
I need to make some of those shifts. That is just the cut I need. For my modern everyday clothes. And yes once I finally fit my corset right I will be wearing a corset and stay most everyday.
I should have said or. When I fit them right I will be wearing a corset "or" stay most everyday.
Mostly because they are comfortable and fitting bras are difficult to find. But it's really so the lines of my dress sit right. The difference between my t-shirt dress making me look frumpy and fat, or really elegant, is a corset. While my ill-fitting corset actually adds a few inches to my waist I look skinnier with it on. my ill-fitting corset is not uncomfortable in the least, it just doesn't have enough bust support.
I really loved the color and detailing of this gown. And it looked lovely on you, as always. The fashion plate with the original design also showed a model in a two-piece gown, which as you noted was more versatile. I wonder if one style was more popular than the other (1-piece vs 2-piece), or if they were equally popular during this period.
Generally, 2 pieces were a lot more common around this time. In fact they were 3 piece outfits, with 1 skirt a day bodice and an evening bodice. This increased the versatility of the garment. However, with Princess seamed garments becoming popular (more so in the 1870's) dresses, as distinct from skirts and bodices, started to become the norm. It would be the 1890's before separates became popular again.
@@davidhutchison3343 Agreed with everything you said except for the separates becoming popular in the 1890's. The cuirasse bodice was popular from the 1870's through the 1880's.
Stunning, as always! Owning one of your gorgeous creations is on my "bucket list."
I am selling quite a lot of my own wardrobe at the moment…
This gown might be my favorite of all the ones I've seen so far. It's just beautiful and so elegant. The grounds around Balmoral are absolutely gorgeous too. It would be lovely to visit.
Love this dress. Reminds of clothes at beginning of Gone with the Wind.
14:42 I love that you showed you can move in it like that.
That really is a lovely dress! Possibly my favourite silhouette of this time....
You are absolutely outstanding, talented and just adorable. I wish some of the fashions would come back especially the hats. I collect and wear vintage hats.
I don't care for1860s dresses . . . except for the princess dresses worn over hoopskirts. Those are amazing. And the gathering at the back of the first petticoat is ingenious. Thanks for sharing this beautiful dress!
I love the emphasis of using what you had. I feel like so many people that are into historical dress are SO caught up in historical accuracy and this goes with this time period that they forget that most of the time, the average person 1) made all their own things and 2) the average person wasn't changing their fashion every single year so it IS historically accurate to mix and match and work with what you already possessed. You did your best to dupe things to be as fashionable as your finances allowed!
Cette robe est magnifique, très belle couleur, les motifs noirs soulignent la ligne, c'est parfait. Les photos à l'extérieur sont géniales.
One of my favorite time periods. Scarlett in Gone w the Wind wore a white and black one in similar pattern. Lovely!!! So nice to be at Balmoral!!! Felt really Victorian I imagine...a step back in time,so cool.
Yeees but I think the Scarlet one is more 1850's because the skirt is rounder!
Actually this one reminds me of the white and green striped one she wears to Tara with Rhett right after their honeymoon. It's such a pretty dress with its little bolero. I think it's on screen for like less than 30 seconds! From images I've seen of the dress, it appears to be an elliptical shape as the back is much longer. The black and white "honeymoon" dress is also elliptical shaped but has significantly less volume. They get married in 1868 though so it's slightly off
@@xXOpenYourHeart759Xx I mean the whole movie has a weird passage of time, lol
I love those dresses. I wish we wore them now❤️❤️
Ich love how you match the music to the period! So many channels forget to do that and as a musician that annoys me extremely
Absolutely stand out creation. Love the colour and the detailing. The fabric moves so beautifully. It reminds me of a Manet painting of the same period. Bravo!
Good choice of music it helped to create the atmosphere.
It looks like it's such fun to wear it
You look very smart in this gown. And the color is wonderful.
I love how you have a tune that came out in 1867 playing while you dressed. I'm now imagining a room filled with couples gorgeously dressed like this, waltzing to Strauss, the skirts of the women swooshing in sync to the music as they are twirled around the ballroom by men smartly dressed.
I love how the black lines flow down the back of the skirt. Looks like a peacock’s tail.
love the clean lines on this style! very nice!
It MUST be a Charles Frederic Worth model.
If not, it's at least 1866 high fashion!
What an elaborate, wonderful work!
Including the Hat!
This dress is beautiful and you just glow when you pit on these special clothes.
What a stunning gown! The trimmings are almost Art-Deco - very surprising. :)
I love how this dress moves! Watching you enjoy wearing it and playing in it makes me smile. That piece of art is dazzling!.
Спасибо за ваше творчество))💞💞💞
Beautiful, beautiful dress! 😍😍
I wish the Queen had received you after seeing you strolling there. So much beautiful your new dress for the elliptical hoopskirt! Creme de la creme!
Absolutely stunning dress and lovely color.
Lovely!! Love the color!!!
It looks wonderful!
I, too, love to see you so happy
I appreciate the swishing of the skirt. It made me feel like I was there swishing the skirt too. Because that's the most fun of having a big skirt. 😁
Wow - I think that's one of my favorites. Really lovely.
That's a SERIOUS dress. Wow.
you really looked stunning in this beautiful gown thanks so much for sharing
Nice momentary break from the modern age which is a nightmare
Gorgeous dress and I love watching you dress, I think it might be long time before my dressmaking skills are near equal to making something like this but I live in hope. Thank you so much for sharing this with us lovers of the feminine.
My fave! Love the little get em adjusted hops.
Watching you getting dressed is my guilty pleasure!v🤣
Absolutely lovely! 💙🌼🌿👗💜
Your channel is such a blessing
I see how much fun your having in that lovely dress! Such a wonderful shade of blue! And the lines of the bodice transitioning into the skirt! Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing with us.
Such a beautiful, happy dress! Thank you for sharing.
I always wondered how they got these dainty little hats to stay in place - I supposed lots of hatpins - never would gues these little ribbons tied in the back 😃 And the geometric pattern is just stunning. I think I missed a century or two here - would love to wear something like that! Thank you!
Absolutely LOVE this style! Simple silhouette, chic velvet trim - perfect. My favourite colour too!
What a beautiful gown!
A Stunning dress. I have to say I love the little jumps that help to sort out the petticoats and get the skirt into place, a form of dressing keep fit.
This is a Beautiful dress! And my favorite piece of music! Thank you so much for sharing this video with us.
I love to sew. I might try my hand at sewing an 18th century gown because that's my favorite era in clothing and architecture. But I really prefer to make quilts.
I love the colors on the dress 👗 😍
I absolutely loved this gown! ❤
Amazing. As always. So glad i found your channel ❤❤
Very Scarlett O’Hara. Reminds me a bit of her red Christmas dress.
I’ve only just recently found this channel, but this is my favorite dress so far!!!
I've seen many of your beautiful gowns, but I think this is my favorite. Love the deep turquoise/teal
I just bought all your books as I work in a historic Victorian home and want era accurate outfits. This dress is on my short list of ones to make next. It’s gorgeous. I’m currently working on the croquet dress as I’m hosting our Garden Party with coquet. I’m so excited with you books❤
15:35 Ah, beautiful! Just like in paintings from that era.

My very 1st apartment in 1969 I bought beautiful drapes at an outlet for my first Apartment in that shade of blue. It felt so good coming into the apartment after I finished working a full time and part time job to afford University I wanted to attend.
I love this. Wann to wear such a dress put it and just run. Love how These dresses move.
👍I like your dresses. Thank you.👏👏💋
The circumference of the dresses have always made me wonder if victorian seating had wider seats to allow for the hoops, bustles, panniers and other such items.
Adorable view!!👏👏💓💓
Absolutely stunning! Such an inspirational video❤
15 minutes of exercise BEFORE the walk... That's how to stay in shape!
I'm watching with subs and it's delightful.
(Fabric rustling, snaps popping, laces shuffling) all my favorite sounds
Love the color of this beautiful dress. Very nicely done 👍💯
