fact Ryan had like only 116 lines in the script shows how just facial acting, movement, music and good directing can make it to where you don't need so many words spoken.

The scene from Drive where Carey Mulligan is sitting in the hallway to escape the party and Ryan Gosling comes out of his apartment. A few words exchanged. A lot of heat. This song is playing in the background. One of my favorite movie scenes of all time. So effing intense.
Man, you really forget how beautiful Carey Mulligan looked back then. What a film - everything about it looks wonderful, drenched in a blue, rich, warm vividness; it's a fairytale, set in Los Angeles.
Yer she’s really beautiful. She play’s the character well. You can see she is a loving mum yet wants to be with the driver character but wants to stay loyal for her son.
This song was created in a rented downtown loft in Montreal in the winter of 2008. In my opinion, no atmosphere can be better for making a song this dark and deep.
This movie is absolutely phenomenal. The music, cinematography, the cast, the whole feeling of it all, and how easy it is to remember the movie. It’s all spectacular. I think it’s even pretty cool how in the end credits, Ryan Gosling’s character is called “Driver”
I know Drive is such a meme at this point, but it really is a great movie. The extreme escalation of violence and the certainty of The Driver in his actions to protect what he holds dear. In nature, humans and other animals posture in order to avoid actual violence. We tend to puff chests or fight without actually maiming or killing each other. What stands out in Drive is how absent this is. We get an inkling of the kind of background The Driver has, and the deadly serious nature of being tied up with a dangerous, but largely unseen criminal underworld. There is no room for posturing. The Driver is unwilling to risk Irene and Benicio. There is no hesitation or question of enemies and situation, only extreme retaliation.

@@colbycovington6073 good point. What I also like about his character is that it isnt your typical superhero type which is about things like superiority or machismo like you will find in these marvel comic movies or in a fast & furious movie. Look at how he does nothing on purpose to show off superiority, how he tries to help Irene's husband even though he was just starting to love Irene, how he left the "dirty" money behind in the end and didnt return to Irene just to keep her safe from his world.
