The antenuator and gain adjust ments are great to get that sound quality and noise reduction just right. I can hear the world regularly depending on the time of year and the time of day.
I have been using this radio for over a year now and the only bad thing I noticed was this winter. Warm the room up for a long time and prewarm the radio for an hour on standby before you try to adjust the preselect as it is very stiff in the cold and will go out of adjustment or it may break if you turn or force it. I know this as my cold garage is my shop and I don't always use the wood stove out there unless its very cold.
I may have as I really did not pay attention while trying to run the camera I may have forgotten to line it up properly. The preselect was also misaligned from being forced when it was frozen and needed further repair. The Wadley Loop design is explained in the repair tech manual as well and available as a downloadable PDF online for free. The whole point of this video was to show the average joe the what,where,and hows, to get that dial unfrozen. These radios recieve awsome.
I have never had to replace them. The only thing that comes to mind is to take them to a local machine shop and see if they would make them for you. I don't use or promote Facebook but if you join the machinist group you could go there and see if one of the guys on there will make them for you cheaper than a machine shop. That's a tough one. Try googling the unit and the problem and you might find someone that figured it out or found a substitute gear. That's a tough one.
Well.....thanks for the tips etc. but this video does not show exactly what you did to repair the preselector and so is not helpful for that. I have a dx-300 with the same problem and I'm sure others do too and would like more detailed information.
Darrell, I just put some penetrating oil on the gear wheels of the preselector and it worked fine; but the calibration will probably be off a bit. It's a common problem with the DX-300. /s/ Todd Myers

I really love that radio. If works fantastic. It is hard to get one that recieves as well as this does.

Do you make repairs on these units if they are shipped to you?
It depends on what problem your having with it.
Two of my tuning gears are cracked. Do you know where I could find them?

I know one guy epoxied or glued his back together with crazy glue.
You could change that screw that is hard to get to...to a small bolt head screw, or an allen head screw to make it easier..
