Great video! Given Ezone won out here, might be a good follow on to do Ezone Tour and Ezone 98+ assuming your racket shop carries those. I think you have been the best at extracting the differences between variants of similar rackets
Good review. 46 pounds seems a little low on VCore to me. I've been using a demo at 52 pounds. Perhaps you'd get a little more consistency and control the power a bit with a little tighter.
I used to play with 2021 98, and now play both that and the 2023 interchangeably. Don't feel a lot of difference. Maybe 2023 has a bit more power, confort and forgiveness. I think the issue could be with solinco tour bite soft at so low tension might mess with consistency. I used to play this string at 52 lb and it was nice in the beginning, but after a few hours it started to act funny. Same goes for other rackets. Tried other strings like Babolat RPM Blast, Black Code 4S or Head Hawk and the tension lose is more gradual.
Hi. I would choose the EZ98. I think it can do pretty much everything the PA100 can do, with more control and better net game. The PA98 is probably superior on the attacking tho, but I still choose EZ98.
Thanks for a good comparison review. I use a PS97 v13 which I like for control and spin. I use solinco confidential at 46lbs. What racquet would you recommend for a little more power but retain control? I am a senior 4 to 4.5 player
I think your first option could be PSX v14. You get more power and spin and I don’t think it loses control that much. Second option is Tecnifibre TFight ISO 315. Most of PS97 users like it because it’s easier to use but retain pretty good control. Third option is Gravity Pro. It’s easier to play with, massive sweetspot, great control. But you will lose topspin.
I’m a Vcore 98 user and liked the improvement in 2023. Two very very different rackets from the 2021 model. Great review and I agree with your takes on the 2023. The upgrade in control and feel can’t be understated between the two though.
For me I like both of them. Extreme tour is more bouncy and has more feedback. It is easy to swing and faster through the air, you can get a lot of spin from that. I think it compliments fast/compact swing. For me, Extreme tour is like a power/spin racket but you get 98 headsize and good enough control. EZone 98 is more like a control frame that has extra power and spin. It is very consistent, predictable, and reliable. I think both compact swing and full swing driving ball work well with this racket. It has better control and accuracy.
Both spin racket, I think PA98 offers a bit more, but that’s debatable. PA98 plays on firm side, VC98 plays on plush side. Easy power go to VC98, control and feel go to PA98.
is there any chance you can compare the stiffness of the 2023 vcore 98 to the 2021 vcore 95? I've been wanting to try going from my 95 to the new 98 because I've heard they've made it softer (previously I've had arm issues). Have you had a chance to use that generation of 95?
I think Pure Aero 100 is more powerful and spin friendly. I find Vcore 98 harder to play with, but it has more control. I don’t think it has a lot of topspin, probably depends on groundstrokes but it didn’t work for me. On the feel, Vcore is muted.
Very different rackets. VC98 for me is more powerful and forgiving. You get some free power out of it. PS97 is known for its precision and feel. It’s good for attacking but not so good on defense.
Thanks! I would say Vcore 98 is faster and could go with full and compact swing. It has more control for power as well. Speed MP plays well with fuller swing. It’s easier to play with, easier power, spin is ok but when I really brush the ball, it lands short.
@@tantennis Thank you for this! I'm still torn between the two, as I've gotten along really well with the Speed MP but feel like my backhand lacks pace and weight, although depth is good. Sadly no option to demo a Vcore where I am. Would you say the Vcore98 feels heavier to swing compared to the Speed?
@@samanthadelune not at all. I think Speed MP is head heavier and need fuller swing. This reflects in SW of around 330 vs Vcore 98 at 320. So, Vcore is faster and easier to accelerate. Btw, I find Yonex rackets very compatible for 2 handed backhand.
@@tantennis Interesting! I have a one handed backhand, sadly. I used a 2022 Ezone100 prior to the Speed, and found it sluggish and head heavy on the forehand - It also gave me wrist and forearm fatigue although power was very easy. It's my worry that I will feel the same about the Vcore98 since I can't demo. The dilemma headache continues! 😂
@@samanthadelune I think Vcore 98 is way softer than Ezone, and more comfortable than Speed MP as well. You won’t find the head heavy feel on 98 as much as on the 100, in general.
Yea I don’t find it to have extra spin than other rackets at all. That’s unexpected. If you think v2021 has good feel and power, you might prefer the v2023.
That's interesting - I use 2022 Vcore 100, and also have the 2022 Vcore 98 for some reason. I absolutely hated the 2022 Vcore 98. When I'm just casually rallying, it doesn't matter, they all play similar. However when I put power into the swing and in actual match situations, the V98 is somehow less powerful, less predictable, as well as less stable than the 2022 Vcore 100. You actually ranked the 2023 Vcore 98 to be above 2023 Vcore 100, how does it compare to the 2022 models? I'm a high 4.0/low 4.5 level player in the States.
Compared to 2021 version, the new version of 95, 98, 100 is more connected, more powerful, and get more predictable spin in general. On a separate note, I hate the 2021 Vcore 98 as well, it’s very unpredictable, but I find the new one much better. The fact I rank 98 above 100 is just for my game, I spray balls out too much on the 100 so I appreciate something less powerful.
Not a fan of Yonex at all. All of them are way too muted and there is no connection at all. With Ezone 98 2022 I got elbow pain after a session which has never happened with any other brand I and normally play with Babolat 68+ RA rackets.
Great video!

Great review! Would love to see reviews on the VCore pro models if you're able to get your hands on them
Actually my friend has the Vcore Pro. If I meet him I will ask.

How would you compare it to the Aero 98 in terms of power and spin?
I think Vcore 98 has easy power. You have to work more for it in PA98. For spin I prefer PA98.

Thanks! Still working on it.
Hello Tan, quick question. If you were to choose between Pure Aero 2023 and Ezone 98 2022, which one will be your fav?

I think Vcore 98 is the easiest to hit with
I have wrist-pain issue with PAVS, so kinda looking new racquet. which one better VCore 95/98 or TFight 305 ?
Safer choice would be Vcore. 95 or 98 depends on your game. I don’t think the comfort is different.

Yonex is probably the only company that really update the mold, not just the paintjob. The 2023 version is such an improvement.
Guessing you have not used the Blade Pro but it sounds like the Ezone 98 is possibly your pick for the best 98 besides a regular Blade?
That’s correct
I would like to see a review of Babolat Pure Strike VS, please.
Unfortunately I don’t think I can find one here
Thanx from Germany!
