Love that 85 sound, raw rocking Grateful Dead!
Took my mother to this show. She loved it. I took her & sometimes my dad to Spectrum shows (hometown). Great time(s).
My 4th show, and possibly my favorite first set of them all. I saw 6 songs at this show that I would see only one time out of 45 shows total. I don't think any other show came close to that number.
One of my favorite first sets full of surprise and great delivery to an extraordinary crowd. Fond memories of this run. Grateful.
I SAW THE SAT 6TH SHOW BUT REALLY WISH I SAW THE 7TH AND 8TH...GOD BLESS THE GRATEFUL DEAD!
After the 1st night the boys had to bring it. And did they ! The best 3 song to open a show I ever saw
Look at the people rocking out dancing right at the start of Midnight Hour...this is back when people really knew how to get down and dance like no one was watching..now adays, everyone is trying to look cool and all self conscious....totally square!
Now adays, everyone is on their goddamn cell phone taking video of the show to prove to their "friends" how "lit" the show was instead of living in the moment with their eyes and ears and enjoying it for themselves
you're either a dancer or a poser. one cares too much how they look & the other looks like fun cause they don't give a f--k how it looks, its fun.
You're 100% correct brother...I'm so happy I grew up in the 70's and 80's(90's a lil too) then in today's generation...first off, I was blessed to see the Slivered Haired Angel MANY times...and second, when we went to a run of shows, we were unreachable for days...today you can't use the john without someone trying to get in touch with you...if someone invents a time machine, can somebody please lemme know..lol..not kidding tho...I miss Jerry and Brent every day!...stay Grateful my friends...✌💀💨🍄🎸🎶
I started seeing shows in the mid 80's. As a 16 year old at my first 2 shows, it was where I first learned to start being less self conscious, thanks to the crowd around me and a little special help, I learned to let it all go and let the music dance me. Changed my life.
Straight up
What a cool setlist for the time. Had a crappy tape in my early days and so cool to have a great Charlie Miller recording mixed with some visuals to help give the idea of what it was like. Thanks for your efforts here and in all the others you have done for us
Peak of Jerry's chops this year.
Thank you for the great upload! This was my first show.
God I wish I could've been there. What a fun show
I should have been there. Made it to Hampton. How was I to know they’d open the show with those 3 gems?! Such is life in the Grateful Dead universe! 🎉❤👍🏻🎶👏🏻
I personally think 85' is one of the best years for Jerry's vocals...

84 & 85 were two of my favorite years for shows. I caught around 70-75 and was often surprised by different stuff. good era, miss it now that only hints of what we had are available now at outrageous prices. it still gets me that before 87 getting a free ticket wasn't very hard (if it was needed) and in Chicago 2015 the only tickets around were 350$+ for half the dead & trey.
This show and Easter Sunday were monster performances. 1985 had some burning shows no doubt! I'm huge fan of early 80 s although I find gems from 1972 to 87.
Beauty classic opening lick to Midnight Hour, as only Jerry Garcia can do
#TodayInGratefulDeadHistory!
Great GA dance floor - no seats. Huge fun at this one!
My 1st show Eva was In Provy 3 daze be4 this show.......grate East Coast Tour

Outstanding @@mrieckert41
Jerry having a rough time getting in the groove in Midnight Hour...
IraHayesIraHayes yep, I remember someone commenting right aftet this show that the Midnight Hour was the weakest ever.
IraHayesIraHayes. CAN'T DISAGREE MORE. he's got it down classic licks thru out, his licks are runnin' double time on every tune. He's kickin' ass on midnight hour. It wz short and sweet. The energy thru out the show is right there
you go to FM hs?
I just wanted to point out 1:49:49 coming out of space into GDTRFB.
For anyone wanting a good summary before they listen (as an 85 fan its good to know if itll be good before you find out its bad) top 10 first set. Lots of energy, really strong musically. Jerry struggles with some vocals, 2nd set is very nice but a little disappointing after that first set barn burner.
Set list?
Fucking soundboard tapes - never do the shows justice
oddest first set setlist ever?
Anyone know what time this show started?
Whenever Jerry’s syringes were finally empty
I was there. This was a tricky three night run. I’m pretty sure Garcia was using at that point and a lot of his singing is weak.
Garcia high in '85? You don't say
