This episode really taught us a lot about Gojo. From my understanding the more he uses his eyes, the less effective he becomes.
Giving a character an *“I want to live”* type moment and then quickly executing them is one of the cruelest things we've ever seen a show do, considering Riko is just teen. Toji is ruthless stabbing and shooting teenagers, man using Hood curse energy.

It's the cinematography that hits us manga readers. We knew it was coming, but the way Geto said "let's go home" with the music and everything, even knowing what happens you can't help but want her to get what she wants.
And then a gunshot on the downbeat was musically so nice

Not having cursed energy is more of a buff than a downside tbh. Unless you’re somebody on Gojo, Sukuna or Yuta’s level, zero cursed energy heavenly restriction is OP

JJK is so fantastic at making people think its a happy, cheerful, everybody lives in the end and overcomes the bad guy type shounen anime before ripping off the band-aid again and again and I love seeing peoples' reactions to it!
RIP Gojo. He was undoubtedly the strongest sorcerer in history, but he was just weaker than the non-sorcerer Toji Fushiguro, who had zero cursed energy. It's sad that Gojo's story ends here, but there's no need to worry. The true protagonist, Yuji Itadori, will take over from here.

It was a necessary death because it finally humbled Gojo and did away with his arrogance. In a way, Toji made Gojo who he is in the present.

Love your reaction ! Your "hatred" towards Toji is understandable. I'm so saddened for Geto because he's so empathic about the others but he needed to be humbled by someone and stop being so cocky about his strength. Geto's shift is certainly due to his lack of strength and his refusal to accept Riko's death.

Doesn't have much to do with being "a Gojo fangirl". I absolutely love Toji as a character as well but as a human, I don't like him very much. For some reason, I watched the op when it played for this episode and noticed everyone laughing and smiling, and made a mental note to not let my guard down....
Well, because Toji Fushiguro is an assassin.
A villain from the beginning. He's not that insanely good guy, by the setting. But he's cool, as a villain, he's a bad guy.

So explaining pacts just because of the heavenly restriction segment:
A pact in jujutsu kaisen is something you can have with yourself, others or placed upon you (heavenly restriction) that grants more power to you because of a disadvantage that you incur due to the arrangement.
So if you have an agreement with yourself, like Nanami did in season 1, to reduce cursed energy (therefore disadvantaging him) whilst he works on the clock, he can be compensated by more cursed energy when he works overtime. That’s why he named it overtime.
You can have pacts with others, such that if you agree to lose something what you will be rewarded will be greater.
Then you can have pacts placed upon you which you had no say in and because you had not say in that pact, it’s a greatest disadvantage so because it’s placed upon you it’s called Heavenly Restriction. But the upside is what you get in return is ridiculous because you’re at your most disadvantaged here usually.
Mechamaru (the robot) was born with a body which hurts him and has to live life like that and in return his cursed energy output is so great he’s already around Grade 1 level which is crazy for a student (they said this in his fight v panda)
Another example is Maki who was born with no cursed technique and a human level of cursed energy but because she can’t have a cursed technique she’s stronger than the average person (hence she could grab bullets etc)
Toji is the most extreme version of this, being born without cursed energy at all, so his recompense… well, we’ve seen it.

The thing about geto’s anger is he speaks in a calm manner but he’s obviously enraged but with cursed energy you can’t let ur emotions get out of control or else u won’t be able to properly channel ur cursed energy. So he still had to maintain his composure after seeing Riko die and hearing about Gojo. all sorcerers are trained to keep composure but in a situation like this that’s incredibly impressive.
It’s also interesting how in most anime a character being enraged makes them stronger but in jujutsu in order to channel they’re power they cannot let their emotions get out of control. It goes against the common trope in shounen anime. I find that really cool.

Everyone talking about Gojo got Six eyes + Infinity but no one is talking about Toji having Inverted spear of heaven + heavenly restriction + preparation time .

@@MNM2INC Maybe if you watch this show as only good vs bad but from the very start, it's never been about that. Gojo is ruthless and kills his opponents without a problem. He was ready to kill all the higher ups because he didn't agree with them. It's only because people see him as good that they're okay with it lol. It's not because Toji is strong, it's because of what he accomplished with the tools he had at his disposal. Gojo is literally the most broken character in the series. Toji isn't close to as strong as Gojo, thats why its impressive. He wore down Gojo, planned the whole bounty strat, managed to kill the SPV and accomplished his mission all without CE and breaking a sweat.
Giving him credit? Sure. But why would you expect people to love a character just because they're strong? To me that just sounds like the most boring reason to love a character lol
