I had just graduated h.s. when this show came out. I could relate to it due to the fact I worked at a McDonalds in Hawaii. Across the street from that franchise was a Catholic all girl's school Sacred Hearts Academy. Like Eastland had Bates Academy (all boys) Sacred Hearts had St.Louis Crusaders 2 blocks away. Loved this show b/c it was spot on on how teen girls acted. Rest in Peace Charlotte and Cloris.
I also loved Jo. She was everything I wanted to be at the time: beautiful, athletic, strong, tall, slim... (I knew I was smart, so no envy there, lol!) She didn't look or act like the others, with her no-nonsense ponytail, very little makeup, and absence of giggling; taught me that maybe it's ok to be different. Way to go, Jo!
Felice Schacter who you don't mention from Season 1 lived in my neighborhood in Queens, NY and I had run into her a few times at the movies on Friday nights.
My favorite person was Jo Nancy Mckeon. Makes me think of how I was growing up. The tomboy type and a rebel still to this day I am both the tomboy and a rebel.
