As someone with a 3900X and Vega 64, I agree that anyone who says this build is pointless has lost the plot. The only NEED to upgrade is when your system is no longer functional/enjoyable.
Absolutely - spot on - needs to be said more
I have a 2600x and a Vega 56 and I completely agree.
i dont rly hear ppls saying that 1-2 yeas components becomes pointless , thats not even a topic for discussion lol because there is only one right answer
Yep! Still running a intel 930 and amd r290. And windows 7, yipee.
You're missing the other BIG reason for upgrading your system. They simply WANT to upgrade. Their PC is simply their hobby 🤷
The Upside to Molex is that once you get it connected, it never fails and is connected literally forever.
The downside to Molex is connecting it.
the crimps on some cheaper molex adapters tend to be too tight and in combination with the cheaper cable sleeving used, most cases causes the sleeve to crack and cause a hidden short (learned from experience) lmao other than that molex is solid
There's more downsides, cheap ones that dont get any QA can cause arcing melting the plug and wires on a high current draw devices due to the metal socket not making full contact with a pin.
@@RBRat3 I 2nd this
nVidia should had went Molex. Sure it would had looked awful, but the degree of separation between pins would have been improved compared to the shoddily-made 12VHPWR to 4x 12V EPS adapter they ship. nVidia can burn with their faulty adapters for that one.
@@bluephreakr Not to mention the pins just being larger is a plus too.
Me when the amazon bestseller PC is better in every component than my midrange PC I built this summer.

What is your pc specs
I laughed too hard at this... ahhh regret.

Ur lucky I built a 2060 one 😥
Almost ready to build my new PC. I have been so caught up in benchmarks and browsing the forums that I totally forgot to buy cable sleeves/extensions. Thanks for the reminder, Kyle!

Best specs for 600$?
My parts just started coming in I'm so excited I've been waiting so long

@@klow3371 a total of $600 I'd just get a pre built for $1200 you can get a 3060ti with a i7 for $1200 at best buy. Just upgrade the CPU cooler and flip the 2 front fans to intakes
I find it hard to believe the best selling components are these rather high end parts specially the 3080.
I thought the same. Unless he just picked the most popular 3080.
3090 Ti is actually the bestselling GPU on amazon currently. Going for $1100.
Its the most popular in the last few days or weeks or something not all time
just bought this one on there myself
A lot of people don’t pay the full price up front, people use deferred interest credit cards or PayPal pay in 4 etc etc
13:04 I was in the same situation after I bought the Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact. Luckily, my ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO has an extra USB 3.0 internal connector, roughly around the same position where the TUF Gaming has one. You can pick up an adapter ( *internal* USB 3.0/3.1 to *internal* USB-C) for like 5 bucks and it works like a charm. Just keep it in mind that this will not give you the full capabilities of USB-C, it is just a USB 3.0 in USB-C shape but at least you don't have a "dead" port.
'Him complaining about things he doesn't like that cost $100+' *Me calculating how I would be able to afford it*
Bitwit I’ve been watching you for five years now and you’ve taught me so much. You taught me how to build a PC you taught me what components are compatible with each other but most importantly you taught me the love for all pc hardware and I appreciate all the content you have put out throughout the years. Keep doing what you’re doing because you have turned something that is boring for most people into something people like me absolutely love and I think about every day.
Part of the reason I felt able on making my first PC was due to his compatibility video.
11:00 The molex is for when the motherboard doesn't have support for ARGB but still want to turn on the RGB(hence why it has a controller). It gives people that don't have ARGB the option to turn the lights on, otherwise you could've left it out and connect it directly to the motherboard which gives you full control of the lighting.
my liquid cooler uses sata power, objectively the better option.
That cooler isn’t the Argb version. It’s just the rgb version. There is a difference
Why not buy a USB add-in-card from Silverstone to attach the cases USB C port? Or buy an adapter to convert the USB 3.1 connector on the end of the internal case cable, and adapt it to USB 2 that you can plug on the motherboard. I mean, it will only work at USB 2 speeds, but its cheaper than the add-in-card and you can make the front USB port usable.
wow- I really expected this system to be far lower end lmao
great build!

Well I feel good about purchasing that same board and CPU now. Watching this video was almost like watching myself build my own computer, almost all the parts are the same. The one thing I noticed, depending on GPU length, most of the chip set fan is covered by the GPU, pretty sure it doesn't affect the operation too much though.
Love the episodes!!! Hopefully you and Paul do a stream together when the 40 series launches!!!
Missed your enthusiasm man, love the content and have for years. Keep it up brotha!
I specifically always go for prior gen or older current gen stuff because I can get it for a good discount, this tactic has never failed me and I always come out with a lot of money spared on the other side
I have this AIO and considering that it is one of the cheapest out there, especially between the AIOs with RGB - its perfect! The Molex is pain - but you have to plug literally once, I actually forgot that it has it before watching the video.
Molex as it was intended works perfectly... the problem is that molex is designed to have the pins hard soldered to a pcb, so that they are straight and rigid... these wire connectors where the pins flow around is the problem, and it would be a problem for anything, not just molex.
Thanks so much Kyle! Your videos are so entertaining and you inspired me to get into DIY pc building.
good to see you're putting that essential oil diffuser to use
Hey Kyle,
Heads up on the 4pin to remote to molex connector for the RGB fans. You can ditch the remote and connector and plug in the triple rgb splitter directly into the 4pin rgb in header on the motherboard. Just make sure the arrow is pointing at the 12v header. This will allow you to control the lighting with the motherboard's software instead of the presets on the remote.
Good luck!
I was going to mention this as well. The Molex is ONLY for boards that don't have a 12v 4 pin RGB header on it. Which that X570 does have..
@@Snaggletooth40 Yeah, the instructions don't really highlight this feature, but the labels on the outside of the box hint at it. All that certified compatibility with Asus Aura, Asrock Polychrome, Msi RGB and Gigabyte RGB.
@@Snaggletooth40 They have a pair of them, in fact (one on the top edge, and the other on the bottom). That AIO/MB combo is now in a system for one of my kids.
Always great vids! Amazon has become fairly reliable..happy to say I pieced my system there.
i'm not a big fan of it or proud of it, but amazon has been reliable for a decade or more.
i love how the insense is in the background still
I love that you quote step brothers
i think the 5800X is because it went on a 12 hour sale at 50% off here in Australia
I could be mistaken, but I suspect these are the best selling parts specifically in the US, though I could be wrong. Would be interesting to see if the top CPU is different between Amazon US vs. Amazon Canada / Australia etc.
I recently upgraded from a 3600 to a 5800X for like $280 on Amazon. Just to breath some more life into my system I hope lasts me a long time. Pretty good deal I'd say
What kind of motherboard do you have?
i didnt expect it to work wow thank you so much bro
G'day Kyle,
I went with a X570Tomahawk for my R9 3900X Editing PC,
So happy with it even when Ambient temps were over 35°C during last Summer the VRM had no problem keeping cool & I have never heard the Chipset Fan even during long Data Transfers of video files.
Guys don't always believe these "best seller" items on Amazon. Obviously an RTX 3080 is not the best seller gpu lol. These are items that Amazon/ Nvidia want shipped fast.
Thats what I thought too.
From the point on where he showed the graphics card I questioned the whole amazon bestselling thing XD
Yeah I disagree with you completely... for 2 straight years the number one most wanted GPU was surprise a 3080... so when Amazon states its the most popular I wouldn't second guess that for a moment!
yeah, if 3080 was the best selling it would mean a lot of people had systems with 3080's, but they don't since it's still an expensive card. Majority of gamers use anything between 1060 - 4090, i highly doubt 3080 is the most popular, people arent that rich lol
The hive mind pc ended up being a little higher spec than I thought. I was predicting Ryzen 5, B550, RTX 3070, and a 500GB NVMe. It's a really solid build though
I also think Amazon uses best seller in a small time frame, like best seller of the last week or something. I’ve seen it change every 2 weeks, so with the recent price drops on 5800x and a 3080, it makes sense it’s best seller for a short time frame.
Now if you go for best selling for the whole year, I think you’re right. It would probably be 5600x and a 3070. Case does make sense though for any time frame. That’s a great case.
It isn't the most sold, it's the "best sold" within "x" period.
Most people are running 1060s and 1660s, not 3080s, LOL!
I have that exact CPU and AIO combo, it's awesome.
have been waiting for u to post a vid!! so wxcited to watch this one. and hi bitwit!!!
I have also heard about the chip set noise problem. My x 570 mobo that I bought in late 2020 has a chip set fan also. It has yet to ever turn on. not even once. so even if it is loud I am not sure that it matters! lol
Bro, you can tell that the people over there that use amazon belong to far far richer communites.
Everything about that build screamed overkill to me.
Back when molex was the common connection the pins didn't MOVE AROUND! There are going to be very few games that need a 4000 series GPU. Energy Prices have doubled if not triples in Europe and North America. I bought a 3070 and I'm running games on Low, super smart of me.
It's crazy seeing these videos now, I built my PC about 2 years ago and I'm running a GTX 1660 Super and a Ryzen 5 3600 with no issues. I haven't been following the PC community as much since I finished mine and I had no idea some of these products even existed because I haven't even considered upgrading in a while.
Ayo i got a similar build!! 2+ years ago it was the best bang for the buck. i can't find myself to upgrade even with knowing these products existed 😅
My expectation was a comical mismatch of parts but instead we got a very solid and competent build list.
I was not expecting best selling parts to be mid/high end. I thought it would be lower end parts, Such as Ryzen 5 and 3060-3070
It makes sense if you consider only people with lots of money have been able to build a PC for the last 2 years.
@@originalscreenname44 Agreed, my rig is 3/4 years old and still rocking a R5 3600 with no issues, if it aint broke, dont fix it.
I just got a 3080 after using the integrated gpu of the r7 5800g for the past 2 years and with the current situation and prices I can sorta understand why the 3080 is so popular.
@Bitwit I hope you're using distilled or demineralized water on that humidifier, because if it's the ultrasonic model it will leave every monitor and window, or any glassy panel coated in lime in time. Just wanted to give a heads up before it ruins anything in your room.
Great video Bit, I’m planning to build myself a pc as a x-mas gift to myself. This helped will parts and build. Thanks
nice to think that someone without any experience could just look at the top selling and get a good gaming machine with minimal issues
Exactly the x570 is overkill tho
There are alot of 'one man' system builders on eBay. I'd love to see a video on one of those pre-builts and how they stack up against bigger system integrators like iBuypower etc.
Ya know I've noticed these independent builders too, and this is a great suggestion.
Your outburst when you saw the molex connector is the most relatable thing ever lol
Great to see there is still value in older parts.....
Absolutely right about this time being the best time to buy parts. A generation back is not bad at all. If you are on a budget, this is a great time for some awesome deals. Unless money isnt an option, then buy the newest, but im cheap so im loving it.
nah. especially upgrading from a 1700x like me, I basically built a whole new PC for what a GPU would have cost me a year ago.
A 3080 is the best selling GPU?
Now THAT a strong opening to a video.
Great work on the vid. Please, include the total price of the build at the end so we can compare to other builds w/o having to add up individually.
it's actually kinda scary how similar this is to my own build xD i put it together 9 months ago when i was still learning everything about pc hardware and selected my parts based on my own research from reviewers and independent testers, and ended up with a 5800x and msi rtx 3080 with 32 gigs of ram in a 4000d airflow powered by an rm850x. a few differences, in that my 3080 is the ventus model and i have a 360 corsair capellix aio, plus a WD black SSD and a 4x8 kit of ram on a gigabyte 550 aorus pro v2 board. but otherwise extremely similar
For learning still as a beginner and picking that setup is impressive, you clearly did all the right research and deserve a 👏bro. you'd be suprised how many people order the wrong stuff for their platform or just pick parts off a random youtube video and regret it a month later lol
I have a question would the AMD Ryzen™ 7 5700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor work for this build?
yes
yes, its basically the same as 5800x just a little lower clock speeds and lower TDP. I just installed a 5700x to my pc just two days ago
Any 5000 series cpu will do you wonders. I mean hell went from like MAX 200fps to like 400-600 fps on csgo
@William Taylor for same price you can get a 4080 which alone is 21 percent better then 3090 ti
@William Taylor why would you get a 3090?? over a 4080
such a chill video! also this video has sold me on the corsair 4000D airflow... whenever i actually have the money to build a pc
8:38 its not about the size of the case, its about the flow of the air
I'm surprised the most popular ryzen board wasn't a aorus x570 elite...they're always on sale for less than $180...bought mine for $130 from microcenter
I don't know the spec differences between the 2 boards to know why one is bought over the other (hell it could most likely be something arbitrary). But great deals at microcenter are extremely niche when compared to the size of amazons market......which is a good chunk of the freakin planet.
@@nicholaskinkaid The Elite has a type C front header, the Tuf ironically (ASUS invented it) as noted by Kyle does not but has better diagnostic LED.
very surprised that an x570 board is chart-topping. B550 is such a great balance of value and features. Refurb B550 boards are plentiful and I don't foresee myself updating in a loooong time
Ur broke
dual PCIe 4.0 NVMe slots, better expansion capability vs. many of the other boards since you have that extra x16 slot, good power delivery that allows for stable overclocking, WiFi, and the board just looks good.
I can see why, and especially given this thing originally was expensive as hell many don't mind paying a bit more for the best. I'm just glad it wasn't Gigabyte or MSI. I don't like motherboard RMAs.
but if you wanted one of these refurbished you can pick them up for ~$90 USD on eBay.
I built my pc in 2013 with most parts already released years prior and it is still running games today at 120fps (using similar method of best rated parts and the only thing ive upgraded was 8gb to 16gb and the old hd 6780 gpu to a gtx 1070)
lol @ the diffuser still in the background and running.
I love my 5800x and honestly just got an rx6800 for $499 at microcenter a couple weeks ago upgrading from my rx5700, and im loving the performance, i gotta upgrade my panel to 1440p high refresh rate but still last gen parts dont get worse they stay the same... you dont always need the newest stuff
That's what I'm doing lol, right now is a great time to buy, 5800x is 230 lol, and it'll last 5yrs. Don't need the latest and greatest, just need longevity, in 4yrs a 4080/90 will be $700 or less, I'll buy 1 then
whats the point of upgrading so early😂
I didn't even know the 5800X was considered "last gen" at this point. Honestly for the last 5 or 6 years I have gotten the impression that CPUs these days are more-or-less the same. I mean yes, of course the cheaper ones will not be as powerful as the more expensive ones. But I mean, once you start spending about $250-$350 on a CPU, that CPU is most likely going to perform the same (at least as far as you can tell in using it) as every other CPU in the same price bracket.
I overhauled all of my PC hardware in October of 2021. I had been rocking a 3RD GEN i5 since 2013. I was running that with an R9 290X and a combination of solid-state storage and hard drives. It wasn't until 9 years later where I finally started to notice performance issues. When just the main menu of Halo Infinite was taking up 70% of my CPU, and it took ages to compile Eevee shaders in Blender, I knew it was time to upgrade.
I got a 5800X, new motherboard, new RAM, and a RTX 3070. Huge boost in performance all across the board, not just for games but also stuff like Blender and video editing. The way I see it, if I managed to pull almost a decade of life out of my old CPU and video card, I imagine I can pull the same life from these components as well.
I HIGHLY recommend going for 1440p high refresh by the way. I thought it was all just a meme but high refresh rate is awesome.

Amazon decides what is “the best seller”. They simply place something they prefer at the top of the list with a “best seller” tag. People will buy that part, so it becomes “the best seller”. It probably is the part with the biggest profit margins for Amazon.
yeah I feel this is the case for any online store. even digital goods on PSN or Xbox. the, "top sellers," always feel like they are ads. who's seriously still buying Skyrim? everyone already owns multiple copies lol.

Great vids! Keeps them up!
X570/B550 is also known to have USB issues especially with the USB 2.0
A big deal for gaming. Limiting to PCI gen 3 partly fixes it.
Most of the time USB 3s are fine, but plug a USB 2 hub into them and it will glitch as well. The motherboard hubs aren't faulty, else it wouldn't affect every X570/B550 motherboard as they definitely don't all use the same controller for this.
A520 boards are not affected so if you don't want to overclock but just plug in your GPU and game it could be an option for you as well.
What I find funny is the components in my 9th Gen i7 systems (ATX & ITX) are worth more on their own now than when I purchased them when 10th Gen was released (with 11th on the horizon).
There's a wake created by new products, and if you time your purchase well, you get the best deal before it is considered specialty and the price goes back up.
My previous system was a 12 year old i7 990X (X58) system I ran for 10 years before upgrading to 9th Gen. It finally came down to lack of instruction sets being the motivator (otherwise both hold stable 5GHz clock w/liquid cooling).
It's still working, too (detuned to stock clock, tho, running on air cooling as my NAS box). Hopefully I can net another 7-10 years out of this hardware as well.
Thanks... it's working... Good Job...!
This video really helped me out my power supply was malfunctioning and I know which one to get and ram because I need to agree
The chipset fan is something I NEVER noticed make any kind of noise...until I did a really quiet full custom loop in my system. Now I can hear it lol. First world problems, right?
As someone who previously had the exact same motherboard/AIO, you do *NOT* need the molex connector on there. There is a pair of RGB headers on there, as well as an aRGB header. The only reason that I got rid of that build was that it was handed down to my older kid.
There is a prebuilt for only $800 on Build Pro PC with a Ryzen 5, 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1650, its very good for being well under $1k.
I wanted to mention. I had Asiahorse on my build with a 2080 Super, but once I upgraded to a 3080 FTW3 the cables caused me a lot of headaches by causing black and blue screen of death which the cables that came with the PSU or the Cablemod cables I got later did not. Not sure if they improved their extensions, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend them for 3080s and above.
I have their extensions on my 5800x & 3080 build an no issues the past year. Wonder if you happened to get a bad set? But interesting...
