I recently upgraded from a 3600 to a 5800X for like $280 on Amazon. Just to breath some more life into my system I hope lasts me a long time. Pretty good deal I'd say
Molex as it was intended works perfectly... the problem is that molex is designed to have the pins hard soldered to a pcb, so that they are straight and rigid... these wire connectors where the pins flow around is the problem, and it would be a problem for anything, not just molex.
I have this AIO and considering that it is one of the cheapest out there, especially between the AIOs with RGB - its perfect! The Molex is pain - but you have to plug literally once, I actually forgot that it has it before watching the video.
The hive mind pc ended up being a little higher spec than I thought. I was predicting Ryzen 5, B550, RTX 3070, and a 500GB NVMe. It's a really solid build though
I also think Amazon uses best seller in a small time frame, like best seller of the last week or something. I’ve seen it change every 2 weeks, so with the recent price drops on 5800x and a 3080, it makes sense it’s best seller for a short time frame. Now if you go for best selling for the whole year, I think you’re right. It would probably be 5600x and a 3070. Case does make sense though for any time frame. That’s a great case.
I could be mistaken, but I suspect these are the best selling parts specifically in the US, though I could be wrong. Would be interesting to see if the top CPU is different between Amazon US vs. Amazon Canada / Australia etc.
Well I feel good about purchasing that same board and CPU now. Watching this video was almost like watching myself build my own computer, almost all the parts are the same. The one thing I noticed, depending on GPU length, most of the chip set fan is covered by the GPU, pretty sure it doesn't affect the operation too much though.
It's crazy seeing these videos now, I built my PC about 2 years ago and I'm running a GTX 1660 Super and a Ryzen 5 3600 with no issues. I haven't been following the PC community as much since I finished mine and I had no idea some of these products even existed because I haven't even considered upgrading in a while.
Back when molex was the common connection the pins didn't MOVE AROUND! There are going to be very few games that need a 4000 series GPU. Energy Prices have doubled if not triples in Europe and North America. I bought a 3070 and I'm running games on Low, super smart of me.
Guys don't always believe these "best seller" items on Amazon. Obviously an RTX 3080 is not the best seller gpu lol. These are items that Amazon/ Nvidia want shipped fast.
Yeah I disagree with you completely... for 2 straight years the number one most wanted GPU was surprise a 3080... so when Amazon states its the most popular I wouldn't second guess that for a moment!
yeah, if 3080 was the best selling it would mean a lot of people had systems with 3080's, but they don't since it's still an expensive card. Majority of gamers use anything between 1060 - 4090, i highly doubt 3080 is the most popular, people arent that rich lol
I don't chase trends so when I build a system I prioritize what I think will last more a good couple years. My current system was built 7 years ago and still runs beautifully.
I just got a 3080 after using the integrated gpu of the r7 5800g for the past 2 years and with the current situation and prices I can sorta understand why the 3080 is so popular.
Absolutely right about this time being the best time to buy parts. A generation back is not bad at all. If you are on a budget, this is a great time for some awesome deals. Unless money isnt an option, then buy the newest, but im cheap so im loving it.
As someone who previously had the exact same motherboard/AIO, you do *NOT* need the molex connector on there. There is a pair of RGB headers on there, as well as an aRGB header. The only reason that I got rid of that build was that it was handed down to my older kid.
it's actually kinda scary how similar this is to my own build xD i put it together 9 months ago when i was still learning everything about pc hardware and selected my parts based on my own research from reviewers and independent testers, and ended up with a 5800x and msi rtx 3080 with 32 gigs of ram in a 4000d airflow powered by an rm850x. a few differences, in that my 3080 is the ventus model and i have a 360 corsair capellix aio, plus a WD black SSD and a 4x8 kit of ram on a gigabyte 550 aorus pro v2 board. but otherwise extremely similar
For learning still as a beginner and picking that setup is impressive, you clearly did all the right research and deserve a 👏bro. you'd be suprised how many people order the wrong stuff for their platform or just pick parts off a random youtube video and regret it a month later lol
There are alot of 'one man' system builders on eBay. I'd love to see a video on one of those pre-builts and how they stack up against bigger system integrators like iBuypower etc.
I love my 5800x and honestly just got an rx6800 for $499 at microcenter a couple weeks ago upgrading from my rx5700, and im loving the performance, i gotta upgrade my panel to 1440p high refresh rate but still last gen parts dont get worse they stay the same... you dont always need the newest stuff
That's what I'm doing lol, right now is a great time to buy, 5800x is 230 lol, and it'll last 5yrs. Don't need the latest and greatest, just need longevity, in 4yrs a 4080/90 will be $700 or less, I'll buy 1 then
I didn't even know the 5800X was considered "last gen" at this point. Honestly for the last 5 or 6 years I have gotten the impression that CPUs these days are more-or-less the same. I mean yes, of course the cheaper ones will not be as powerful as the more expensive ones. But I mean, once you start spending about $250-$350 on a CPU, that CPU is most likely going to perform the same (at least as far as you can tell in using it) as every other CPU in the same price bracket. I overhauled all of my PC hardware in October of 2021. I had been rocking a 3RD GEN i5 since 2013. I was running that with an R9 290X and a combination of solid-state storage and hard drives. It wasn't until 9 years later where I finally started to notice performance issues. When just the main menu of Halo Infinite was taking up 70% of my CPU, and it took ages to compile Eevee shaders in Blender, I knew it was time to upgrade. I got a 5800X, new motherboard, new RAM, and a RTX 3070. Huge boost in performance all across the board, not just for games but also stuff like Blender and video editing. The way I see it, if I managed to pull almost a decade of life out of my old CPU and video card, I imagine I can pull the same life from these components as well. I HIGHLY recommend going for 1440p high refresh by the way. I thought it was all just a meme but high refresh rate is awesome.

very surprised that an x570 board is chart-topping. B550 is such a great balance of value and features. Refurb B550 boards are plentiful and I don't foresee myself updating in a loooong time
dual PCIe 4.0 NVMe slots, better expansion capability vs. many of the other boards since you have that extra x16 slot, good power delivery that allows for stable overclocking, WiFi, and the board just looks good. I can see why, and especially given this thing originally was expensive as hell many don't mind paying a bit more for the best. I'm just glad it wasn't Gigabyte or MSI. I don't like motherboard RMAs. but if you wanted one of these refurbished you can pick them up for ~$90 USD on eBay.
I’ve been using an X570 itx mobo w/ R9 3900x since launch and never experienced any fan noise issues or any usb drop outs! I only recently (2-months ago) updated my bios as I got h9ld of some cheap Samsung B-Die kits 🥰👍💪😇🤩

I can't wait to build my PC! These are the components I'm buying/have bought (as of November 2022): Case - Montech Eagle X1 (White) - Bought Motherboard - Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi (AM4 socket, 2 m.2 ports, 4 DDR4 slots) - Bought CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5600x - Not bought GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 - Not bought RAM - 4x 8gb Corsair Vengance DDR4 RAM sticks - Not bought Storage - 2x m.2 drives (I can't remember the brand), 3x Kingston 480gb SSDs - Not bought PSU - 850w PSU from a brand I can't remember off the top of my head - Not bought Display - Hisense Roku TV (1080p @60hz, nothing special, just a substitute for an actual monitor for now) - Bought Keyboard - currently an HP full-size keyboard from when Windows Vista was new, subject to change - Bought Mouse - Razer mouse (I forgot the name) (Ambidextrous, White, Wired) - Not bought Headset - Razer Kaira (Wired, White) - Not bought All in all I still have $890 left to spend on supplies... yeah I probably won't have this assembled until the end of the school year lol.
I'm surprised the most popular ryzen board wasn't a aorus x570 elite...they're always on sale for less than $180...bought mine for $130 from microcenter
I don't know the spec differences between the 2 boards to know why one is bought over the other (hell it could most likely be something arbitrary). But great deals at microcenter are extremely niche when compared to the size of amazons market......which is a good chunk of the freakin planet.
For the AIO you don’t need to use the RGB controller with your the molex connection if you use the 12 V RGB connection on the motherboard. That’s what I learned from using that AIO
I built a PC in October off links in a youtube video. lots of the same stuff. you cant use the case usb-c but the motherboard has one. My audio interface is hooked up. works great. I ended up with a 3090 5900x. Interesting the best selling ended up having such good components.
What I find funny is the components in my 9th Gen i7 systems (ATX & ITX) are worth more on their own now than when I purchased them when 10th Gen was released (with 11th on the horizon). There's a wake created by new products, and if you time your purchase well, you get the best deal before it is considered specialty and the price goes back up. My previous system was a 12 year old i7 990X (X58) system I ran for 10 years before upgrading to 9th Gen. It finally came down to lack of instruction sets being the motivator (otherwise both hold stable 5GHz clock w/liquid cooling). It's still working, too (detuned to stock clock, tho, running on air cooling as my NAS box). Hopefully I can net another 7-10 years out of this hardware as well.
If you're asking me, I'd say that paring would be an excellent choice. Slightly better than this PC because of encoding. Both systems are at end of life, but will be relevant for years to come.
I have also heard about the chip set noise problem. My x 570 mobo that I bought in late 2020 has a chip set fan also. It has yet to ever turn on. not even once. so even if it is loud I am not sure that it matters! lol
Amazon decides what is “the best seller”. They simply place something they prefer at the top of the list with a “best seller” tag. People will buy that part, so it becomes “the best seller”. It probably is the part with the biggest profit margins for Amazon.
yeah I feel this is the case for any online store. even digital goods on PSN or Xbox. the, "top sellers," always feel like they are ads. who's seriously still buying Skyrim? everyone already owns multiple copies lol.
This pc build is almost identicle to my build currently and its scary, im also jelous because this was way cheaper and if has better preformace. It's expected because i bought my computer parts duing covid/bitcoin mining peak. :(
Yep it's the way the cookie crumbles. My brother purchased a 3080ti last year for $1200, I bought one last month for $650 😂 When you desperate you do what you need to do, But even though I was kinda desperate too, there was NO WAY I was gonna hand that sort of cash over to anyone! Things always calm down in the end, The wait for worth it.
X570/B550 is also known to have USB issues especially with the USB 2.0 A big deal for gaming. Limiting to PCI gen 3 partly fixes it. Most of the time USB 3s are fine, but plug a USB 2 hub into them and it will glitch as well. The motherboard hubs aren't faulty, else it wouldn't affect every X570/B550 motherboard as they definitely don't all use the same controller for this. A520 boards are not affected so if you don't want to overclock but just plug in your GPU and game it could be an option for you as well.
G'day Kyle, I went with a X570Tomahawk for my R9 3900X Editing PC, So happy with it even when Ambient temps were over 35°C during last Summer the VRM had no problem keeping cool & I have never heard the Chipset Fan even during long Data Transfers of video files.
I built my pc in 2013 with most parts already released years prior and it is still running games today at 120fps (using similar method of best rated parts and the only thing ive upgraded was 8gb to 16gb and the old hd 6780 gpu to a gtx 1070)
I agree, i bought AM4 in jan almost 30 % off, full 5950x and dark hero mobo,64gb ram, NH-D15, now snagged a 6900xt for $600, i am done. full build ~$2200 (only gpu used). including top tier ssd, etc. pretty much set till something dies. i would say buy 2nd hand from people who are upgrading, you might save even more! but make sure warranty is still valid (eg. cpu comes with box) or there is a guarantee of sorts
It's true bro. Molex disk drive power connectors suck and needs to die already. It's been in use since 1963 FFS. Fun fact: The ATX motherboard power connections are Molex too. I feel like we can evolve beyond those as well. Looking forward to seeing something smaller.

I'm convinced the Corsair 4000D Airflow makes any build look premium. Gotta admit, I was sold. Almost went for the Fractal Design Meshify C, but the front dust filter and the way the glass panel on the Corsair was so sleek without the buttons on the Fractal's sealed the deal.
Corsair being so popular makes sense. From my experience with corsair; They are not the best at anything but they make everything and everything they make is good. I honestly don't think I have ever owned a bad corsair product. Their cheap keyboards and mice are good enough, their fans are good enough, headsets are fine, memory is fine, PSU's are fine, and their cases are great because the quality per dollar is through the roof with them and they cover every price point.
@Bitwit I hope you're using distilled or demineralized water on that humidifier, because if it's the ultrasonic model it will leave every monitor and window, or any glassy panel coated in lime in time. Just wanted to give a heads up before it ruins anything in your room.
I wanted to mention. I had Asiahorse on my build with a 2080 Super, but once I upgraded to a 3080 FTW3 the cables caused me a lot of headaches by causing black and blue screen of death which the cables that came with the PSU or the Cablemod cables I got later did not. Not sure if they improved their extensions, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend them for 3080s and above.
The USB 3.0 header usually runs the USB-c connector. My system I built may of last year uses that board and I know the c header is through the 3.0 header on the board.

I haven't been following the PC community as much since I finished mine and I had no idea some of these products even existed because I haven't even considered upgrading in a while.
Ayo i got a similar build!! 2+ years ago it was the best bang for the buck. i can't find myself to upgrade even with knowing these products existed 😅
My expectation was a comical mismatch of parts but instead we got a very solid and competent build list.
Back when molex was the common connection the pins didn't MOVE AROUND! There are going to be very few games that need a 4000 series GPU. Energy Prices have doubled if not triples in Europe and North America. I bought a 3070 and I'm running games on Low, super smart of me.
Always great vids! Amazon has become fairly reliable..happy to say I pieced my system there.
i'm not a big fan of it or proud of it, but amazon has been reliable for a decade or more.
Ok, the sponsor integration and the Kratos and Scrubs are X'D. I actually lol'd xD
Guys don't always believe these "best seller" items on Amazon. Obviously an RTX 3080 is not the best seller gpu lol. These are items that Amazon/ Nvidia want shipped fast.
Thats what I thought too.
From the point on where he showed the graphics card I questioned the whole amazon bestselling thing XD
I was not expecting best selling parts to be mid/high end. I thought it would be lower end parts, Such as Ryzen 5 and 3060-3070
It makes sense if you consider only people with lots of money have been able to build a PC for the last 2 years.
@@originalscreenname44 Agreed, my rig is 3/4 years old and still rocking a R5 3600 with no issues, if it aint broke, dont fix it.
I just got a 3080 after using the integrated gpu of the r7 5800g for the past 2 years and with the current situation and prices I can sorta understand why the 3080 is so popular.
Corsair has been crushing it. You finally don’t have to choose between good performance or pretty. So reliable too.
Absolutely right about this time being the best time to buy parts. A generation back is not bad at all. If you are on a budget, this is a great time for some awesome deals. Unless money isnt an option, then buy the newest, but im cheap so im loving it.
nah. especially upgrading from a 1700x like me, I basically built a whole new PC for what a GPU would have cost me a year ago.
As someone who previously had the exact same motherboard/AIO, you do *NOT* need the molex connector on there. There is a pair of RGB headers on there, as well as an aRGB header. The only reason that I got rid of that build was that it was handed down to my older kid.
Love the episodes!!! Hopefully you and Paul do a stream together when the 40 series launches!!!
I have that exact CPU and AIO combo, it's awesome.
it's actually kinda scary how similar this is to my own build xD i put it together 9 months ago when i was still learning everything about pc hardware and selected my parts based on my own research from reviewers and independent testers, and ended up with a 5800x and msi rtx 3080 with 32 gigs of ram in a 4000d airflow powered by an rm850x. a few differences, in that my 3080 is the ventus model and i have a 360 corsair capellix aio, plus a WD black SSD and a 4x8 kit of ram on a gigabyte 550 aorus pro v2 board. but otherwise extremely similar
For learning still as a beginner and picking that setup is impressive, you clearly did all the right research and deserve a 👏bro. you'd be suprised how many people order the wrong stuff for their platform or just pick parts off a random youtube video and regret it a month later lol
i didnt expect it to work wow thank you so much bro
There are alot of 'one man' system builders on eBay. I'd love to see a video on one of those pre-builts and how they stack up against bigger system integrators like iBuypower etc.
Ya know I've noticed these independent builders too, and this is a great suggestion.
I have that MB in my build. Same RAM too. Went with a 5900x and 3080. Had it about a year and a half with no issues.
How's it holding up I got that same cpu and mb coming in the mail along with a raideon 6800
@@danietkissenle It's good, no issues to report so far.
Don't need the latest and greatest, just need longevity, in 4yrs a 4080/90 will be $700 or less, I'll buy 1 then
whats the point of upgrading so early😂
@@usleadershipareliars in 4 years id buy whatever is going for the same price thats way faster or cheaper bro, nvidia or amd dont care just want the best performance for my money
@@spartan456 and the video editing and stuff is where the cpu matters i5 to r9 they all perform relatively the same the last few generations in games but multi threaded application the extra core counts help alot, going from a 3600 to the 5800x i saw so much more performance especially when i stream
I've been running that AIO for just over 2 years and I've had zero problems. Excellent price to performance!
very surprised that an x570 board is chart-topping. B550 is such a great balance of value and features. Refurb B550 boards are plentiful and I don't foresee myself updating in a loooong time
Ur broke
dual PCIe 4.0 NVMe slots, better expansion capability vs. many of the other boards since you have that extra x16 slot, good power delivery that allows for stable overclocking, WiFi, and the board just looks good.
Hells ya! Ryzen 7 5800X baby!!! I've built 3 systems this year using it. 1 for me and the others for friends(they paid me too).
A 3080 is the best selling GPU?
I’ve been using an X570 itx mobo w/ R9 3900x since launch and never experienced any fan noise issues or any usb drop outs! I only recently (2-months ago) updated my bios as I got h9ld of some cheap Samsung B-Die kits 🥰👍💪😇🤩
2:00 even my old gtx960 is a completely relevant card depending on what you are doing, i don't think there is a game on the market that wont run on it, and my 1660ti works great right now. having the cutting edge is nice and all, but it is the wrong approach for a personal computer user over decades of use. these aren't consoles
I can't wait to build my PC! These are the components I'm buying/have bought (as of November 2022):
Case - Montech Eagle X1 (White) - Bought
Motherboard - Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi (AM4 socket, 2 m.2 ports, 4 DDR4 slots) - Bought
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5600x - Not bought
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 - Not bought
RAM - 4x 8gb Corsair Vengance DDR4 RAM sticks - Not bought
Storage - 2x m.2 drives (I can't remember the brand), 3x Kingston 480gb SSDs - Not bought
PSU - 850w PSU from a brand I can't remember off the top of my head - Not bought
Display - Hisense Roku TV (1080p @60hz, nothing special, just a substitute for an actual monitor for now) - Bought
Keyboard - currently an HP full-size keyboard from when Windows Vista was new, subject to change - Bought
Mouse - Razer mouse (I forgot the name) (Ambidextrous, White, Wired) - Not bought
Headset - Razer Kaira (Wired, White) - Not bought
All in all I still have $890 left to spend on supplies... yeah I probably won't have this assembled until the end of the school year lol.
@@nicholaskinkaid The Elite has a type C front header, the Tuf ironically (ASUS invented it) as noted by Kyle does not but has better diagnostic LED.
8:38 its not about the size of the case, its about the flow of the air
For the AIO you don’t need to use the RGB controller with your the molex connection if you use the 12 V RGB connection on the motherboard. That’s what I learned from using that AIO
Same I don't use the controller. I use RGB hub and let Mobo control through RGB Fusion
@@CandelarioJrAmaya same i do to he don't need the molex
Lol, I was confused as to what he was connecting. Does that board not include a 12v RGB?
man thats one sweet build for #1 best seller parts in amazon, wish i had a rig half as good as this. gotta stick with the potato for now.
I have a question would the AMD Ryzen™ 7 5700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor work for this build?
yes
yes, its basically the same as 5800x just a little lower clock speeds and lower TDP. I just installed a 5700x to my pc just two days ago
Any 5000 series cpu will do you wonders. I mean hell went from like MAX 200fps to like 400-600 fps on csgo
@William Taylor for same price you can get a 4080 which alone is 21 percent better then 3090 ti
@William Taylor why would you get a 3090?? over a 4080
I built a PC in October off links in a youtube video. lots of the same stuff. you cant use the case usb-c but the motherboard has one. My audio interface is hooked up. works great. I ended up with a 3090 5900x. Interesting the best selling ended up having such good components.
i upgraded my gtx 980 to a 3070ti recently. I cant fathom people who upgrade yearly
🗿
i’m about to upgrade my gtx 1650 to a rtx 2060 or 3060 and it’s been three years since i built my pc
I upgarded from a gt 660ti to a gtx980 to a rx6800xt. I dont buy a graphics card unless it is at least twice as powerful
5800x + rtx 3080 + 32gb ram = an elite system
What about the i711700k with 3080 which is currently going for less than the i710700k
If you're asking me, I'd say that paring would be an excellent choice. Slightly better than this PC because of encoding. Both systems are at end of life, but will be relevant for years to come.
Well made molex connectors are actually really nice, they plug and unplug smoothly. Unfortunately modern molex plugs are super cheap.
I have also heard about the chip set noise problem. My x 570 mobo that I bought in late 2020 has a chip set fan also. It has yet to ever turn on. not even once. so even if it is loud I am not sure that it matters! lol
Great to see there is still value in older parts.....
How much did it cost together?
Around $2100.
i love how the insense is in the background still

such a chill video! also this video has sold me on the corsair 4000D airflow... whenever i actually have the money to build a pc
Amazon decides what is “the best seller”. They simply place something they prefer at the top of the list with a “best seller” tag. People will buy that part, so it becomes “the best seller”. It probably is the part with the biggest profit margins for Amazon.
yeah I feel this is the case for any online store. even digital goods on PSN or Xbox. the, "top sellers," always feel like they are ads. who's seriously still buying Skyrim? everyone already owns multiple copies lol.
best seller is actually best seller but it could be best seller in "things you shouldnt put up your butt"
Hey Bitwit, just wanted to apologize for my comments about your sponsor a few videos ago. Loved the video!
This pc build is almost identicle to my build currently and its scary, im also jelous because this was way cheaper and if has better preformace. It's expected because i bought my computer parts duing covid/bitcoin mining peak. :(
Yep it's the way the cookie crumbles. My brother purchased a 3080ti last year for $1200, I bought one last month for $650 😂

@@EX0007 today's (26 Oct) price is $1875. Yikes!!!!
X570/B550 is also known to have USB issues especially with the USB 2.0
A big deal for gaming.
Waoososo
G'day Kyle,
I went with a X570Tomahawk for my R9 3900X Editing PC,
So happy with it even when Ambient temps were over 35°C during last Summer the VRM had no problem keeping cool & I have never heard the Chipset Fan even during long Data Transfers of video files.
I'm running an 11th gen i7 and an RTX 2070... I've got no complaints.

“Sorry for cricket noises. I blame cricket” had me dead 😂😂😂😂
i had my 1080 for 6 years and i don’t feel the need to change it. it still holds up great
the 1080 was a super good purchase in its year
I built my pc in 2013 with most parts already released years prior and it is still running games today at 120fps (using similar method of best rated parts and the only thing ive upgraded was 8gb to 16gb and the old hd 6780 gpu to a gtx 1070)
I like the Be Quiet fans. Nice and black and quiet.
600 dollars for a 2 year old card is mad
It's true bro. Molex disk drive power connectors suck and needs to die already. It's been in use since 1963 FFS. Fun fact: The ATX motherboard power connections are Molex too. I feel like we can evolve beyond those as well. Looking forward to seeing something smaller.
Now THAT a strong opening to a video.
"Tasty tasty thermal pasty" - Kyle, 2022 :D :D :D Never considered adding thermal paste into my whiskey sours ... until now :D On a more serious note, I belive a tech savy crowd such as your audience will always appreciate learning what are the most tried and true parts that served most tech enthusiasts best. No much motivation or explanation needed. The premise is interesting enough in itself :)
I'm convinced the Corsair 4000D Airflow makes any build look premium. Gotta admit, I was sold. Almost went for the Fractal Design Meshify C, but the front dust filter and the way the glass panel on the Corsair was so sleek without the buttons on the Fractal's sealed the deal.
wtf
I have their extensions on my 5800x & 3080 build an no issues the past year. Wonder if you happened to get a bad set? But interesting...
The USB 3.0 header usually runs the USB-c connector. My system I built may of last year uses that board and I know the c header is through the 3.0 header on the board.
I just bought a R7 5800X for $150 yesterday. I’m excited to see what I can build with it.
