Also, if you're worried about ingesting chemicals, with the exception of sugar, the instant pudding is nothing but chemicals. I make a similar cake, but I use the zest and juice of five or six lemons and forgo the pudding and the flavoring.
This is my third time making this cake since Thanksgiving. Just put it in the oven for Christmas tomorrow. This is the absolute BEST lemon cream cheese pound cake I've ever tasted. Followed the recipe exactly! Thanks again for posting this! ❤

It was the same way with Canola oil. There's no such plant as a canola so what is it? The name comes from a combination of the words Canada and oil. I haven't used that stuff in over a decade either. Wow, that is so wrong. Canola oil is rapeseed oil from the rapeseed plant, which is in the cabbage family. Canola is the trade name - Canada Oil Low Acid, because the plants were bred to have lower erucic acid than regular rapeseed oil. It also sounded good for marketing. Geez, it’s not the healthiest oil in the world, but it’s not freaking motor oil! How do you people come up with this stuff?

Hiya Meso! I made a pound cake yesterday, similar to your recipe. Next time, I want to try your recipe because I am very intrigued by the lemon pudding. It has been so long since I've made a pound cake. It used to be the one cake I made frequently, other than cheesecakes. I often made two at a time. One without glaze for myself, and the other for everyone else. I think pound cake is sweet enough itself. I'm cutting up most of this cake today to freeze slices so I don't try to eat it all. I came to your channel last night looking for a chicken recipe for the drumsticks I have, and of course got distracted. And today had to watch this video several times. And the french vanilla one. I never get bored of hanging out in Meso's kitchen. I made a loaf of yummy herb bread - fat loaf I should have made into two loaves. Your smothered wings look like a good match but I'm all out of bouillon. You don't know how my mouth was already tasting that gravy, scooping that gravy up with my lima beans, and sopping up every drop of the gravy from my plate with my herb bread. Then dessert of pound cake, perfect meal for these cold winter nights. These are real tears of disappointment falling onto my keyboard as I type this because I won't get to the store 'til later in the week. Dream bubble completely bursted.

You can use whatever butter you have but I prefer unsalted in this recipe but salted won't hurt. 2. Yes you can use cake flour instead of plain or all-purpose flour. Hey there- I've used Almond, Orange, & a rum extracts along with the vanilla & lemon. I've also added a a bit under a 1/4 tsp of ground ginger. Hope that helps!
Yes you can use other extracts in this recipe. For example, if you wanted to make it pineapple you could use pineapple flavoring and use pineapple pudding or banana pudding with banana flavoring. Feel free to experiment you will find some wonderful things. Blessings

Meso, I just relize that this recipe you have is the same one i been had for years the only thing i stop doing was adding the instant pudding mix to mines because the sugar was enough
Angela, yes all pound cake recipes are about the same with a few little tweaks. You've been making this recipe for 5 years so I already know it turns out well for you. I use the pudding most of the time because of the moistness. I don't find it adds too much sweetness for me and my crew. Sometimes I use the sugar free pudding too. Depends on who I am making it for. Hey Meso! Its Kimmie! Lol I made this for Christmas and it was a Super Hit! Mmmmm... I even have requests to make it for New Year's Day. Yay me! I have an issue with all of my pound cakes, and that is, the top of the cake always opens up. (parts of it) I hope you know what I mean. So, the cake is done but the portion(s) that are open are loose and jiggly. ...now, I have to let that get done, almost burning the sides of the cake. I always turn the cake over, but that top part never fails to open up. I shake my batter in the pan and use a rubber spatula to remove any air pockets. Help me Please!!! Girl ...... wow em' and knock it out of the park for New Years. I'm gonna try and help. Now for the cake top cracking in places .... that's normal and that part goes down against the cake plate but if inside the cracks are loose and jiggly you are right, it is certainly not done. Let's re-cap: Make sure your oven is pre-heated to 325 before putting cake in. Bake at least 1 & 1/2 hours (90 min.) before opening oven door. Make sure all ingredients are totally room temperature. Place pan on middle rack in oven for baking. Use large spoon to spoon batter instead of shaking. Don't use spatula for air bubbles just tap bottom of pan against counter top once. Make sure to check inside crack with toothpick or skewer that should come back clean. If it is loose I would estimate cooking only 5 to 7 more minutes. Not long enough that it almost burns. If all of this fails get oven thermometer to check that oven is heating properly and evenly. Follow this checklist and Please, please let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching and commenting. +Kimberly “Kimmie” Fowler I been making this pound cake since 1987. Here's what I do to prevent over browning. To start off, I do not preheat my oven. Place heavy duty foil on the top rack of your oven. Once you have poured your batter into your baking pan of choice, place the pan on top of a cookie sheet pan and then place your cake into the COLD OVEN. YOU NOTICED I SAID COLD OVEN. Place the cake on the bottom oven level. My oven has 6 different levels, so I place my cake on the 2nd level from the bottom. Set the oven temperature to 350. In my oven, it takes this cake 1hr:20-25 min. to fully bake. After 1hr: 15 min. has passed, remove the foil from the top oven rack. Now would be a safe time to check for doneness. Stick a long wooden skewer into the middle of the cake. If the skewer has batter on it, continue to bake for another 5 to 10min. I hope this helps...
Kimberly Fowler You're welcome...In regard to placing the foil on the top oven rack, I always place the foil on a rack directly above my cake. PS...Make sure you use 2 long pieces of heavy duty foil to place on the rack. So let us recap the methods to prevent over browning: (1). The "COLD OVEN METHOD" prevents the cake from cooking too fast. (2). Placing the "FOIL ABOVE THE CAKE" shields the top of the cake against direct heat. (3). The "COOKIE SHEET PAN" does the same for the bottom of the cake. You should be fine with your next cream cheese pound cake...! Happy cooking...!
Just discovered you and am excited to bake. .Question? When I bake , my cakes rises beautifully until the last 30 minutes then fall in the oven right before my eyes. Hey Rhonda, sorry for the late response honey. Here are a few things to trouble shoot ........ make sure you are starting off in a fully pre-heated oven, make sure temp is 325 degrees when you put cake in, make sure all ingredients like baking soda and baking powder (for any cake) are fresh, make sure ingredients are properly measured, don't open oven door to early, don't let batter sit too long before getting into properly heated oven, don't over beat batter in last stage, don't slam or close oven door to hard, and sometimes mixing ingredients in wrong order can have an affect on cake as well. Aqua, sometimes your sugar will have lumps in it and really large granules. When I sift I through all of that away. But, technically I guess your cake will taste okay if you don't but I know it will taste awesome if you do. Thanks and be blessed.
Carolyn, I think you could drop the amount of sugar by about a half to 3/4 cup and of course you could add back in another kind of sweetener be it artificial or natural. Actually, a better way might be to eliminate or cut down on the icing because the cake itself is not all that sweet. Be blessed

Damien, I am sorry I'm running so far behind on my responses but I get so many it is impossible to keep up. But 1. You can use whatever butter you have but I prefer unsalted in this recipe but salted won't hurt. 2. Yes you can use cake flour instead of plain or all-purpose flour. Hey there- I've used Almond, Orange, & a rum extracts along with the vanilla & lemon. I've also added a a bit under a 1/4 tsp of ground ginger. Hope that helps!
Yes you can use other extracts in this recipe. For example, if you wanted to make it pineapple you could use pineapple flavoring and use pineapple pudding or banana pudding with banana flavoring. Feel free to experiment you will find some wonderful things. Blessings

Meso, I just relize that this recipe you have is the same one i been had for years the only thing i stop doing was adding the instant pudding mix to mines because the sugar was enough
Angela, yes all pound cake recipes are about the same with a few little tweaks. You've been making this recipe for 5 years so I already know it turns out well for you. I use the pudding most of the time because of the moistness. I don't find it adds too much sweetness for me and my crew. Sometimes I use the sugar free pudding too. Depends on who I am making it for. I am going to make this cake for Easter wonderful video, and by you saying margarine did not seem like Blasphemy; for my first pound cake ever i use margarine because i didnt want to expriement with my Amish butter, LOL so saying all that i will bake a lemon cream cake using your reciepe. Hey Meso! Its Kimmie! Lol I made this for Christmas and it was a Super Hit! Mmmmm... I even have requests to make it for New Year's Day. Yay me! I have an issue with all of my pound cakes, and that is, the top of the cake always opens up. (parts of it) I hope you know what I mean. So, the cake is done but the portion(s) that are open are loose and jiggly. ...now, I have to let that get done, almost burning the sides of the cake. I always turn the cake over, but that top part never fails to open up. I shake my batter in the pan and use a rubber spatula to remove any air pockets. Help me Please!!! Now for the cake top cracking in places .... that's normal and that part goes down against the cake plate but if inside the cracks are loose and jiggly you are right, it is certainly not done.
Let's re-cap: Make sure your oven is pre-heated to 325 before putting cake in. Bake at least 1 & 1/2 hours (90 min.) before opening oven door. Make sure all ingredients are totally room temperature. Place pan on middle rack in oven for baking. Use large spoon to spoon batter instead of shaking. Don't use spatula for air bubbles just tap bottom of pan against counter top once. Make sure to check inside crack with toothpick or skewer that should come back clean. If it is loose I would estimate cooking only 5 to 7 more minutes. Not long enough that it almost burns. If all of this fails get oven thermometer to check that oven is heating properly and evenly.

+Kimberly “Kimmie” Fowler I been making this pound cake since 1987. Here's what I do to prevent over browning. To start off, I do not preheat my oven. Place heavy duty foil on the top rack of your oven. Once you have poured your batter into your baking pan of choice, place the pan on top of a cookie sheet pan and then place your cake into the COLD OVEN. YOU NOTICED I SAID COLD OVEN. Place the cake on the bottom oven level. My oven has 6 different levels, so I place my cake on the 2nd level from the bottom. Set the oven temperature to 350. In my oven, it takes this cake 1hr:20-25 min. to fully bake. After 1hr: 15 min. has passed, remove the foil from the top oven rack. Now would be a safe time to check for doneness. Stick a long wooden skewer into the middle of the cake. If the skewer has batter on it, continue to bake for another 5 to 10min. I hope this helps...

Kimberly Fowler You're welcome...In regard to placing the foil on the top oven rack, I always place the foil on a rack directly above my cake. PS...Make sure you use 2 long pieces of heavy duty foil to place on the rack. So let us recap the methods to prevent over browning: (1). The "COLD OVEN METHOD" prevents the cake from cooking too fast. (2). Placing the "FOIL ABOVE THE CAKE" shields the top of the cake against direct heat. (3). The "COOKIE SHEET PAN" does the same for the bottom of the cake. You should be fine with your next cream cheese pound cake...! Happy cooking...!

.Question? When I bake , my cakes rises beautifully until the last 30 minutes then fall in the oven right before my eyes. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. I follow recipe directions, room temp for ingredients, purchased a new Artisian mixer and cakes still fall. I want to fix this. Help!!!

Hey Rhonda, sorry for the late response honey. Here are a few things to trouble shoot ........ make sure you are starting off in a fully pre-heated oven, make sure temp is 325 degrees when you put cake in, make sure all ingredients like baking soda and baking powder (for any cake) are fresh, make sure ingredients are properly measured, don't open oven door to early, don't let batter sit too long before getting into properly heated oven, don't over beat batter in last stage, don't slam or close oven door to hard, and sometimes mixing ingredients in wrong order can have an affect on cake as well. why sift sugar?
Aqua, sometimes your sugar will have lumps in it and really large granules. When I sift I through all of that away. But, technically I guess your cake will taste okay if you don't but I know it will taste awesome if you do. Thanks and be blessed.

From your recioe it looks like this is a really really sweet cake. Is it a way to adjust the sugar maybe use sweeten sugars. What you think?
Carolyn, I think you could drop the amount of sugar by about a half to 3/4 cup and of course you could add back in another kind of sweetener be it artificial or natural. Actually, a better way might be to eliminate or cut down on the icing because the cake itself is not all that sweet. Be blessed
