Omg I needed that detail for the knee shield. It sounds stupid but helps alot. Lol just slide forward into it and let it pass instead of trying to get around it...thanks
Chewy. I’d like your ideas on what attacksto focus on for tournament purposes. For a white belt. Since there are things I can’t do like jump guard leg or arm slicer. Standing guillotine. I’m quite confident in my defense. I have a strong base. And I escape armbar and triangles on the regular. But my defense is way better than my attack. What submissions or attacks do you think are most noticeable or more often accessible. Without much setup needed to accomplish them. Or should I try and pass guard whether taking the back or full mount. Get those points and stall.
Chew could you please answer this question : I am a purple belt in gi and I am pretty good but my nogi game is a advanced white belt. This makes me uncomfortable when I visit other gyms and easkly get smashed in no gi by their purple belts. What should I do? Shall I feel ashemed?
Mike Ehrmantraut start using non-gi grips sometimes when you roll even if wearing the gi. Force yourself to control a wrist instead of a sleeve, neck instead of collar, etc.
Hi Chewy, I've wanted to straight BJJ for a while now but haven't due to poor health. I've just been told I have CFS and was wondering if you've ever had an experience with students with this and how they got on?
Hey chewy do you have any videos or information on how to keep someone from standing up in no gi. When i play against non gaurd players they just do the technical stand up every time i sweep them and I just try to grab the foot or chase them but they usually get up any advice?
Hi Chew, I'm training BJJ NO GI for half a year, and yesterday I had my first class. I really felt like at day 1 on my no gi class. It was a bit frustrating. Do you have any experience with that. Thanks
QUESTION: Chewy, quick question. My instructor is very encouraging and regularly tells me how well I am progressing. I have been training bjj 8 weeks (I am 41) and am doing well in the gym. I do okay against one of the blue belts who is my size but 10 years younger. I entered a competition and lost very quickly by guilotine choke. I did know how to defend but i was surprised I lost so easily. What advice can you offer regarding competitions for new white belts?
Your first 10 fights will suck no matter how good you are get em out of the way and then start dominating. Huge difference between practice and battle. Once you're used to battle, you can start using those skills.
First of all congrats for stepping on the competition mats after only 8 weeks of training.. stud 💪 also that guillotine wont happen so quick again as you have been exposed to how fast paced competition is compared to rolling in your club. A brown belt who recently joined our club said this to me before my blue belt comp debut, "if your not having fun then its not worth it, your not there to prove yourself, your there to improve yourself" keep rocking and rolling man, im a late starter too myself but loving it.
any insight on a submission i almsot got wrapping my right leg around there left while i was mounted and sprawled out then i wrapped my other leg around my own and could feel my feet ankle locking his to the point he panicked so it could be a sub i would try but i cant find any info on the internet about anyone else finding this
The way Adam explains critical details is just incredible. Can't wait for his instuctional to come out!
1:47 ADAM 🤣🤣 so dead right now lol. Great stuff as always!
Adam is actually the strongest Pokemon.
I came here to make this exact comment. 🤣
Adrian Q i’ve not laughed this hard in a long time 😂😂😂
ADAM can explain details in ways Prof. Danaher can’t possibly comprehend.
Thanks Chewy! I've been stuck in my instructor's shield FOREVER because of his freakishly long legs. I'll give this a try tomorrow!
That step up is a new detail for me. Adding it. Thanks Nick.
Thanks for inspiring me to start jiu jitsu
My chewjitsu shirt just arrived AND a new chewy vid dropped, what a nice way to come home from work!
Comfortable shirt, isn’t it?!
I bought one a couple months ago and it quickly became one of my favorites.
@@itscork yea man, super lightweight. It seems like it'd be perfect to roll in without getting too sweaty, but I'll see monday
Excellent explanation - especially backing up to smash the knees & windshield wipers - thanks 🙏
This is literally what we've been doing in the gym for the last 2 weeks. Are you spying on us chewy?!
Thats cool we were working on some knee shield stuff where i train last night so its nice to see some more on here
I love the (maybe) accidental Penn & Teller act. Adam.
Omg I needed that detail for the knee shield. It sounds stupid but helps alot. Lol just slide forward into it and let it pass instead of trying to get around it...thanks
Dynamite drop in Adam! Way to really interrupt
Thank you for the instruction!
Anyone else notice that Adam only blinks his eyes like 3 times in the whole video?!

Listen to the sound of Chewy breaking the grip at 2:36
That pass seemed like a good setup for Electric chair too, though I might be wrong, I've never been to a 10 planet gym
@4:39 Adam's feet lookin like a damn ballerina 🤣
jts3m4 my foot was a balloon Ariel
This is cool thanks... i also see a chance to heelhook there
I saw the same thing... slide that left leg in and sit back into ashi.
Chewy are you going to release any kind of jiu jitsu equipment other than shirts? I would love to have a chewjitsu gi or shorts.
zach keeth I’m definitely getting some chewjitsu shorts if they come out
When you gonna do a military history video or livestream? That would fucking awesome.
Am I the only one doing Jazz hand with my feet??
Adam rocks!
Holding my phone, watching this in the bath, jazz feet are all I can manage as well
Opponent: plays knee shield
Chewy: aight I'm out
I needed this video!
Adam rocks!

Standing up is so key
This is a cool pass

In your opinion, which do u think is better? Gi or no gi bjj?
Haymaker Marcelo Garcia settles that debate.
I wish this helps. The guy who does this to me has really long legs and just knee shields with his legs locked.
I wanna slap the look off Adams face....but I can’t, and I know that.
How good is crossfit for BJJ practitioner?
It helps
Did it help you a lot?
Is there any particular workout in crossfit that can improve your bjj skills ?
Just do moar bjj
I was today years old when I realized I could just stand up.
Adam? Adam
5 weeks into BJJ
