      make sure you trap the hip holding the belt to they don’t hip escape when you pass your knee over the Ankle..

    Great stuff Professor. We trained together during a trip to NY many years ago at Marcelo’s when we were both still brown belts. You and the rest of Marcelo’s brown belts (Manch, Dillan, Matheus)sent me back to Texas very humbled. I learned a lot on that short trip. I wish you the best.

    Good stuff. I’d love to see you teach some attacks from closed guard chained together based upon reactions of your opponent. Being able to put 5 or so potential attack chains together would be good. Just a thought.

    Excellent information, as always. I have a suggestion: lately I've had a ton of trouble stopping the knee cut (or knee slice) pass. I usually play half guard, but opponents are killing me with this pass. What do you do to stop this pass?

    None of these methods the bottom guy has grips, not even a cross collar shoulder control. Would love to see your take on the realistic grip battle (breaking or negating it while attempting these passes)

      you are not the only one to get stuck there a lot people does... for the person on bottom its their first reactions of guard recover/ defense, (thats why ) if you pass from the knees you are in their knee shield 85%, you need to stands up to pass will help a lot.. thank you for watch BIG OSS

      @@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU yup. I have played with standing up, but that is usually when I get off balanced. Or so much space comes in that they just go right back to reguard.
      I'm big and strong but slow and top heavy. Hehe.
      But I think your methods are solid, it's not that they don't work for big guys, it's that I just haven't practiced them enough yet. Hehe. It's gonna be some fun coming soon.

    In the first example, how do you prevent your opponent from getting the Kimura on the arm you're gripping the collar?

      They’ll get a kimura if you let them break the collar grip. If they break it then its best to forget about pressuring the knee until you can free your arm from their sleeve grip and re-establish collar grip.

      I will do a video cover up that situation can be very trick but the quick I can say is hold their collar between your legs that will prevent yourself from falling and they will feel really heavy to posture.

    Professor question- I tried the back step variation (last technique in the video) and while doing that I got my back step leg caught. I think my opponent saw it coming and he hooked my leg with his ankle. Any guidance on how to prevent getting caught? Big oss!

      I think he only way he can take your back maybe if you your hands on the other side like what you see in the video I always post around his back gives me a better control. If you back step and post on the other side looking to his feet you kind expose your back little bit but much. So keep your eyes when you post your hand hold his belt if you can and you will

    Great stuff but nowdays when people is showing a technique, they assume too much. Like Kurt Osiander said when a guy is in your guard, you should harass him. With full resistance i doubt that is working. No hate just facts. 🙏
