John Doe and Exene Cervenka (X), "In This House That I Call Home" - Skyline Sessions

John Doe & Exene Cervenka, co-founders of the Los Angeles-based band X (and a former married couple), are punk-rock royalty. At the height of the late-'70s/early-'80s explosion of punk, while the Ramones ruled New York City, X was one of the hottest bands in L.A. (even appearing twice on American Bandstand). X continues to tour with original members Doe, Cervenka, Billy Zoom, and DJ Bonebrake, and Cervenka says she'll keep doing it until she dies. "You just keep going," she says, "I have this kind of pride that we're still together, and I feel pretty tough about that." While in Houston for a concert at the House of Blues, Doe and Cervenka visited Houston Public Media to record acoustic versions of the X songs "In This House That I Call Home" (from the 1981 album Wild Gift) and "Because I Do" (off 1982's Under the Big Black Sun).

40 years later they still sound great together. John does strumming still has the same raw energy.
He reminds me of woody Guthrie now. I'd love to see John doe and exene cover pretty boy floyd!

Tell me about it you Fabulous Peeps. Loved you when I met you, coming into Toby's office looking for management. I couldn't manage you but I offered the house to you as it was in the thick of it all, The Spike, haha.. You paid the rent while I moved to Venice for a while with Rory, Malcolm's partner, Sex P. I saw x in Minneapolis 1987. they opened for warranty zevon. The twins won the world series that night. What a street party. my girl friend and l were so happy. Then had a fight from which we never recovered.
