    Loved this video, I have a bmw 230i and this really made my day. I am 19 years old and to know that a good guy like you and I have the same exact car basically just makes me smile!

    Me and my buddies used to do street races in my home country. One day, during the race, my friend lost the control of his car. First he hit the highway crash barrier, and then that led to a terrible scene, where the car flipped over two times an landed in bus rapid transit road. We almost lost him, broke his whole body, had internal bleeding, his liver lost the ability of holding the air, he had to stay in intensive care unit for 2 months, and another 5 months in the house in his bed. And that race night, my friend, the road was slippery because of the rain. As you’re experiencing low loevel PTSD, so am I. That night was the last night of me driving recklessly. Everytime I pedal to metal, whole scene of that accident comes right in front of my eyes. I think You made the right decision to leave the track since you didnt feel comfortable. Feeling that way might led anybody to lose focus on driving, which is very dangerous. Lastly, I’m lookinf for a bmw 2 series as well. This is how I found this channel. I think the way you run this channel is great. Your videos are fun to watch and educational. Looking forward to seeing more of your 2 series videos. Thank you for sharing!

    First off, the writing for this video was sensational. The emotions described here were palpable and it was so easy to see this experience from your perspective. Looking into a 228i for myself as a daily commuter and to begin learning on the track. I appreciate that you do not pull punches and are willing to show the more serious elements of track driving. Hope you continue to work your way back onto the circuit.

    I just discovered your channel because we are buying a SLK for my wife. I drive a 2019 Z06 and I’ve got to say that my wife and I already love your channel.

    Great video, man. And good call on trusting your gut. Just finished a short season on track with the 228i and love it. One of those days was in the wet and I had similar concerns having totaled an E30 a couple years back. This car is so balanced that even if it oversteers, it is really manageable and my fears were quickly put to rest. I run with RS-4’s square. - Looking forward to more content.

      I’ve purposely avoided tracking in extreme temperatures- usually just in spring and fall. Never come close to having issues with stock heat exchanger / dual intercooler, which comes with the M-sport models. - I have an OBDII P3 gauge to monitor oil and coolant temps. After 20 min driving hard, oil temp gets to about 230. It’s never gone above 237. I shut it down once it returns to around 200. 7 track days, one with a 40 min session, often revving to redline. - planning on doing rod bearings soon as preventative measure. Otherwise, engine’s never failed me at 57k miles. Cheers

    Mixed dry/wet conditions (and presumably cold, too) like that are the worst. Like you, perhaps, I struggle to find a rhythm without lots of feel/feedback from the car. And in my brief time behind the wheel I found the 228i steering very uninformative. Even in Sport+ with Traction Control disabled. Hardly the first to make this complaint, and I'm sure I'd adjust eventually. The chassis and motor are obviously capable of great things (240 bhp my foot!). Very comfortable ride, too.. even on run flats. But I'm clearly not sensitive enough to extract its full potential.

    You may feel better with an open faced helmet, driving in the rain can quickly get beyond anyone's skill set when the unpredictable variables come into play. Pity that you got a BMW but your reasons are good so I look forward to more (dry) track time.

      Very good. Just passed 50k miles and I’ve experienced no issues except for a potential diff seal leak that I’m monitoring.
