Great episode, I’ve been to lakes many times, terrific to see the entrance from the ocean as you were coming in. Thoroughly enjoying your Tassie trip, thanks for taking us with you!

Outgoing tide plus over run can reach 6kts or more. Six rivers feed the Lakes so they add to overrun of the tide at the Entrance.

    Hi Norm.
Have You thought about talking to Bruce about hooking a 12 volt battery to Your new outboard to give You a vastly extended range. You could probably charge the battery in the dinghy while travelling.
It should not be difficult for someone with his experience and knowledge.
I know that this is something that I would be attempting with an electric outboard.
Just a thought for another project and You never know if it caught on You and Bruce might be able to sell the kits to do it.
    Regards.
    David.

Yeah could be a good idea David. I could by a second clip on battery if I thought i needed the extra range.

Norm - Thank you what a great insight into that part of our coast, I’ve just finished reading “Three Sheets to the Wind” by Adam Courtenay all about that part of the coast - Smooth Sailing Regards

We have a very interesting and varied coastline David. I never get tired of exploring it.

Rather than shelter @ Pt Hicks, another spot to shelter from West & SW weather is on east side of the Skerries nearby.

Hi Norm, nice video, I have wondered about, anchoring there under the headland off Mallacoota. Weather would need to be right as always,

For sure Allan. We had it offshore and had been that way for a couple of days.
Can't beet a good forecast dude.

Norm, I went to sea for close on 30 years, give or take, sailed on all the oceans, and never saw the green flash.

      @MotorSailingforOldDudes  Год назад

Yeah Drew. I have only seen one and it was just after another sailor told me about it as we watched the sun go down. Been looking ever since with no luck.

Are you pulling our collective legs about seeing the green flash or are you being fair dinkum. Great vid as always

Great cruising Norm, Pt Hicks anchorage a new one for me too and a great way to break the trip. Have you thought about increasing the sail area for those favourable conditions as diesel prices rise? However I am surprised how often there is little to no wind offshore when you cruise.

Yeah Peter. The wind can be very fickle and another sail would be a bit hard to set up. Just have to keep getting ripped off for "motion lotion" I guess dude.

I feel sorry for people who live their entire lives and die, without knowing that the Sun does NOT "go down over the horizon".....people out there who KNOW the truth will understand ( less than 1% of all people on Earth)

Yeah Tracy. Just have to keep looking at the weather and timing it for the last part of the flood when you arrive. Maybe better in Autumn.
      Safe travels dudes.
