    Great details. Don't suppose you could do a video on top side control - climbing from when you are close to the hips to getting solid control of the head, and then getting to mount?

      Ben Purcell I'd love this too but just in case you need it soon, Ryan hall has a great DVD on this called passing the guard that's worth checking out just because it's very good. Don't get me wrong though the more videos Jon puts out the better

    From top 1/2 how do you stop or counter deep 1/2 sweeps especially waiter sweeps?

    Hey Jon, are you worried about a rolling toe hold counter when sitting to an open guard? It’s something I’ve encountered unfortunately

    Do you think whitebelts should generally aim to pull to closed guard?

    • @JonThomasBJJ
      @JonThomasBJJ  6 лет назад +3

      James Yoo Its certainly easier to play closed guard in the beginning, but I also think that people need to learn to become comfortable outside of closed guard because you can’t always get to it and that’s where recomposing come in. That’s what build real confidence in fighting off your back. But if the white belt really likes closed guard and is good at it, it’s a good goal just depends on the positions they prefer to play.
