I thought so too, however I thought the dude the black Gi was hilArious! The little sneak things he did during the video were priceless, i.e. 2:01! Funny guy, at first I didn't expect him to be a skilled as he was for some reason...
I hate guard pulling. I think it encourages people to bypass wrestling and is also turning bjj from being a combat martial art with the aim of self defence into a sport with the aim of competing in competitions.
@@Ebenezer563 the slaps represent strikes, the idea is to learn to work your grappling to avoid being hit which is what the slaps represent. I don't think training on a hard surface is a good idea. yes a street fight is on a hard ground but that is a 1 off event where your adrenaline will be high. You don't want to train 4x a week on a hard ground because you will just get injuries
Hi Chad. At our school the teach us to pull guard by placing the foot on the side where you are grabbing the arm. Makes it difficult to counter as you are controlling the arm on the side already. I know you have answered this question already but a video showing counter to the other side will be great.
The first one should be dont on the collar side, it should be done on the arm side. Thats the reason why you catch his arm to not let him to move your leg as you show here with your free hand. The second one is gold, I never saw it and I will try it on my next roll
A little late on this video: In Judo, they teach you to under hook both legs and smash for ippon. It's why you don't see them pull guard very often. You end up in smash pass position with hips high and the opponent with the air knocked out of them. But these are both viable too, and a little less rough, which is nice. Curios do you think kids should be heavy guard pullers at young ages?

uipize good question! Sorry, I should have been more clear on my thoughts. I’ll have to do a video on this to make more sense of it. But if I am pulling closed guard or attacking overhead sweeps I find it easier to pull with my foot on the collar side. If I go to the opposite side I will be attacking the de la Riva because usually I won’t have enough power to get to closed guard (my opponent will just squat.) If I squat down before I put my leg up I will put my arm side leg up first. It really depends on the type of pull you are looking at. Both sides have counters though so it’s really a preference. I can do the knee slice on both sides. I’ll mark this down and try to get a video out on everything.
These two are the funniest couple in all of BJJ.

It is a sport. It won't ever be legitimate self defence if you are ignoring strikes.
@@Ebenezer563 exactly my point. combat bjj has strikes and is what I think bjj should focus on.
@@footballchat6940 it has slaps. You need proper striking. You should also be fighting on a hard surface, not mats

I was just about to post this question as well. Chad says it should be easy to pass. I'm struggling. Please help!
Guard Puller watches this. Becomes even more powerful guard puller
this made me laugh out loud

Great stuff. Quick simple to the point. Easy to understand. Thank you.
Any time. Thank you for the comment!
Awesome.
Not the pooper! Hahahahahaha
I hope my girlfriend doesn't watch this. If she does my foreplay is no longer effective.

His face when the guy said "I think you'd break my back" 😆.
Great lovable guys 😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Me a guard puller studying how to counter counters
nice...
what's the song at the end of the video?
Is flying triangle legal at blue belt?
You should to guard pull with the same side where you holding sleeve. Pulling guard with the side where you holding collar is bad .
Problem is they are putting the foot on the trapped hand's side not the collar grip side...
why is pulling the other way weaker or more easy to pass?
I though pulling on the side like you did is the "wrong" side because of the blocking hand
