My personal theory is that mr.fantastik was just a close friend of DOOM. I think he just wanted a chance to spit and DOOM gave him one and it was legendary
@@jonathanmikarui8931 i thought that was made clear from the way he introduced himself in his first song appearance on anti-matter. he goes "It's showtime, nihha King Geedorah on the boards (King Geedorah), MF DOOM And I am Mister Fantastik" and then he does a little laugh after hesitantly introducing himself. as in "ye whatever, im mr fantastic, thats what i just came up with after reading out "DOOM" "
"On Doomsday, ever since the womb til i'm back where my brother went, that's what my tomb'll say. Right above my government, Dumile." Always wondered how folks took so long to find Doom's identity when he straight up said it in one of his most popular tracks
@@Watchingvideoslikeu Yup, like he let motherfuckers know what it was and was cool with that 😆 plus you have to think he was friends with doom, so he probably heard what the music business is actually like and probably said fuck it... I know I'm reaching l, but just a guess...
Actually it was pretty common in the 90ies and 2000s that some rappers appeared on only a few features and then completely disappeared. A lot of times it was just some dude that was known in the local neighborhood, person that got signed and things didn't work out, etc.A great example is Deda, who recorded 2 tracks as a feature in 92 and 94 with Pete Rock and CL Smooth. He was as feature on another track in 96 with Saddat X that was it. In 2003 Pete Rock released a full album of him that was recorded in 1995, but wasn't released back then due to some dispute with the label. Since Inetnet, Scoial Media and recording music in general wasn't as easy and accessible as it is today, a lot of artists just became invincible if things went south.
There's plenty of people from NYC now in their 40s/50s who recorded a couple rap songs and called it a career. Not everybody who rapped was trying to get paid. But if you guys really want to know the answer to this: has anybody bothered asking Lord Scotch aka keo?
The internet's obsession of finding info about an artist who for the longest time clearly doesn't want to be identified is baffling. Sometimes artists don't need a face, they can just make music and that's it.
So Mr. Fantastik was a drug dealer or something, balled out for a while, did some time, and just got back. The fact we still got him, and he's still getting paid of his one song is still great. Song is just as relevant today as it was back then, aybe even more so.
He's not missing if he was never yours to begin with. Let the man live. He clearly doesn't want the fame. Maybe the money. But in that case pay him for a verse. Maybe he'll rap again for some money and anonymity.
Its a local legend that tommy gun and mr fantasitik were dooms boys growing up in long beach so that last freestyle and reddit post make complete sense
Kinda funny when u think of how many ppl prolly crossed paths wit Fantastik all these years n had no idea whose presence dey in…he even dapped Shaq up on his IG and O’Neal ain’t realize it😂
pretty sure it was made clear in the past that he was just a friend of doom and rapping wasnt really his whole thing that he wanted to make a career and that hes j trying to live a normal private life.
hey i dont wanna make any bold accusations, but i feel like this video is very similarly formatted to an absurd existences video on mr. Fantastik. Like the fan theory speculation on rodan and stuff, im curious if you saw his video on this before and this is just a coincidence?
i saw his vid a long time ago, it seemed a bit more opinionated yk. ofc there isnt much information to work with so its gonna be similar stuff + the new info that came out that i added. and yea i format most of my videos this way so i wasnt tryna rip anything, just how it turned out
oh also the pebbles thing i thought was a cool segue into the truth ab mr fantastik. havent seen anyone do that and was proud of myself for that comparison haha
It’s probably me just tripping, but the person doing the tribute freestyle sounds like “substantial”. Compare this freestyle to Substantials verse on the song “City Light” by Nujabes….
I'll give you all a few clues. He was a DJ and Graph artist who was up everywhere in the 80s. He tagged many names, but he often wrote SLYc (Slice) with a crown. There is a picture of him floating around on the internet. He is no longer around, and he was well known in the A. He rapped on a couple of old tracks that never really hit hard. He made a lot of money in the weed game and was known for driving a sick BMW.
My personal theory is that mr.fantastik was just a close friend of DOOM. I think he just wanted a chance to spit and DOOM gave him one and it was legendary
The name would support that theory. Nobodies gonna pick an MC name directly related to another’s like that if they’re gonna stick with it
This the most realistic theory Imo
same
I mean it's basically what doom said everyone just wants to figure out who he is

what 😭

They knew better than to snitch and say who Mr Fantastik is, they heard the feature
He spit on 2 fire DOOM songs and then vanished. The definition of a villain.
7:40 "Those hooks changed my life, man..." LOL
Mr. Fantastik is probably in the drug game, he avoided the rap game to not end up being his own star witness.
Pretty much the feeling I got! Different era, people still knew how to keep quiet back in them days, not everyone, but some 😆
Yeah I figured he was a real drug dealer who was satisfied getting one or two stellar verses in.

Arms dealer
"I first met Mr.Fantastik at an arms deal"
Dude may be in the black market
how did I miss that lol
Maybe it was all a idea from DOOM and Mr. Fantastik is just a random friend from DOOM who rapped for him and had DOOM write his lyrics.
I typed this before the 9 minute mark😂
That was always my thought. Given Doom's penchant for different personas, it's possible he just wanted a few to have different sounds.
Its probably the same ordeal with Pebbles The Invisible Girl who sang on Doomsday and The Mic

I was a fan of DOOM and once i saw the thumbnail i knew he was gonna be talking about Mr fantastik.
He posted recently on Spotify
I think it might of been a close friend who just wanted to give rap a try and came out with some fire verses
