1st you never use a needle nose or any other pliers to keep the Pex fitting from moving when crimping.
You only use the Crimping tool. 2nd The ring that your crimp should be an 1/8 of an inch away from the Pex connection. In this video it looks like it is at least 1/4 inch away. And the most important part is after you crimp check it with a Go or No Go tool.
A quick search helps to find that a distance from the end of the PEX tube to copper ring can be between 1/8" - 1/4", but i guess 1/8" might be better than 1/4". Can you explain why one would never use needle nose pliers? I find it very helpful to hold the ring in place while I am crimping it. I agree about using Go-NoGo tool to verify tight crimp. Forgot about that in the video.
I use a Dremel to cut the rings
I use to do that too before I found out about the ring cutter, but with Dremel it's much harder and easy to damage the tube.
Sharkbite
Sharkbyte are not secure. I had a situation that someone did sharkbytes for me (before I learned plumbing), 1 week later two sharkbytes popped out and water sprayed everywhere. That’s when I realized that I gotto figure stuff out myself. PEX is so much cheaper than sharkbytes and more secure. Thanks for comment though.
