    Watched your video after my CRV stopped dead one night. It would turn over strong, battery at 12.4 but not start. The solution of the Ignition coil was the exact fix needed, and for $20 in parts, my CRV started right up, and starts up instantly. THANKS FOR SHARING THE VIDEO AND KNOWLEDGE!

    Don't forget the ICM which is smaller than the coil and lives right below it. Might as well replace both for around $80 total, use Delphi/Hitachi only. Distributor rebuild for $100 if you do cap and rotor too (YEC brand). I did mine as preventative maintenance because parts are so cheap and less than an hour labor. Add NGK copper plugs and NGK blue wires for a full ignition tune up for another $60. Money very well spent!!!

    I have a CRV 97 with the code P1362 - Camshaft Position Sensor A no signal or Top Dead Center Sensor no signal. I did a bunch of research and it was impossible to find the camshaft/TDC sensor locally. I was told by a mechanic that the distributor needed to be replace because those sensors are in there (?!?). The local price is $450 plus labour. I'm planning to go to the car junkyard and see if i can grab one and do the work myself. I am no handyman, but this video really made it so easy to do! Thanks for doing this video! In your experiences, this code.....am I doing the right thing by changing the distributor?

      Nicky Doo pretty sure it was yeah, I replaced the distributor cap, rotor, coil pack and spark plugs. I found there was a break in a seal caused by a broken bolt on the distributor cap so there was a decent amount of corrosion on a few of the parts. This wasn’t the only video I watched that day and as per usual with cars, everyones problem is a little unique. After skateboarding around the city picking up the parts, and a few phone calls to my dad I got it figured it out within two days.

    good video .. a friends crv petrol is having the same starting issues. I drove 40 miles to take them home and after their plumber had finished I drove them back to their stranded Honda crv which started immediately .. AN annoying fault .. The battery and starter are functioning as normal . it has new plugs and seems to be in good order . Could an aging battery low cranking voltage cause the problem . The cranking speed seems ok.

    Had an ICM go out on my civic once. Was a huge pain in my ass to track down the problem but eventually got it figured out. However, i think my coil is starting to go bad. Do you recall how to test them with a multi meter?

    • @NathansPorscheWorkshop
      @NathansPorscheWorkshop  8 лет назад

      +Grimfate20 Well the trick is if it still is working and has not totally gone you can take it out and clean it, when you remove it you will see that it sets in a metal holder bracket, you will notice that there will be rainbow colored arcing where its jumping spark to the metal case, i take a rag and wd40 or any penetrating oil and clean up the coil and the metal bracket and that will save the coil , also bad plug wires will blow the coil up.

    • @Grimfate20
      @Grimfate20 8 лет назад

      Well, the story goes: car broke down, i replaced the ICM and main relay which fixed the problem, also replaced cap, rotor button, and wires. After all of that its been very hard to get the car started in colder weather, and the last time i checked the spark it was orange rather than blue.

I changed it and it started up fine. Two weeks later it won't start saying the same code. After several weeks of testing and frustration, I replaced it again with a better $40 coil because I had run out of parts to test. Problem solved. I was so pissed I had spent a few weeks of my spare time chasing and testing everything else. Lol. There's no reliable way to test those out of the vehicle. Then touch the tip of the test light to the negative terminal from the ICM and start the car. If it doesn't blink, you need a new ICM. If it does blink, you may need a new coil and/or a cap and rotor. Hope that helps.

    The three items you tube videos talk about are to replace the coil, ignition module and temperature sensor. None of those solved that my 2001 CR-V(A) will not start after it has been running. For example, I'll drive to store, it sits about 10 minutes, than it will not start when I come back to car. I have to wait for engine to cool down about a 1/2 hour and then it is hard to start. I have also replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. I own three 2001 CR-Vs. I even swapped out the difference between CR-V(A) and CR-V(D). No help. I am now being told it may be the crank shaft position sensor, or even the cam shaft position sensor. The CR-V(A) I am working on has 190k miles. CR-V(D) only has 71k miles. CR-V(A) had a burnt valve and I had to have that replaced about 2 years ago. I bought it that way cheap and paid a Honda mechanic to fix it. I am still wondering if there is a connection to that work - but I doubt it.
