    Me thinks...Cam bridge...that little port screen comes out and blocks oil flow...it starves the intake cam and you will hear that awful sound. I just had this issue on my gen 1 ea888. Replace it with an Audi part. Remove the screen in the new one before installing.

  • @composedlight6850
    @composedlight6850 Год назад

    But whats wrong with it; if its cam chain /timing issues then could be a big job. The knocking could be valves, is it a interference engine? If no misfire then what about the dual mass flywheel failure maybe. I would not run it at all until i look at the valves. You may not have paid to much ----- but it depends on how many hours you have to invest in the repair .

    Having bought one in literwlly the same condition interesting to see this, ended up changing my enginw but still got my old one lying around and tbh the old one looked pretty good, turned out to be a bad oil solenoid giving bad oil pressure but unfortunately didmt figure that out till i changed the engine, changed the crankshaft sensor aswell as i had the sam crankshaft and camshaft codes. Had a horribke knock when i furst started it when i got it so assumed it was rod knock but after giving it to the garage and they stripped it down and sent me videos the engine didnt actually look to bad , bjt recon the mechanic i gave it to just wsnted the extra money and less work so he pushed me to change the engine and true i had sent the car off 3 hours away and they ha dit for about 6 months i gor irritated and went off on them but ultimately changed the engine to save headache and time, but i recon the engine i had was fine and it was just bad oil solenoid but havnt been able to het the old block from the mechanic, leading me to think it wasnt a knackered engine, and fyi my engine was exactly rhe same sounding when i started it, just some insight that might be helpful to you 👍

    • @apoco_lips9957
      @apoco_lips9957 Год назад

      That is really an informative comment. This sounds promising, hopefully he sees it. Even if the rod bearing are a bit knackered, or even pretty rough, they could be changed. As long as the bearing haven't spun it should be alright to change, and if they are spun some with aluminum transfer on the crank that can be fixed with some acid to clean alum off the crank. New engine might be easier depending on how tough it is to get to the rods but hopefully the solenoid will fix it

    I think its too expensive as your working for free to repair it, I think £ 1,500 cheaper would be the ideal. Looks like a Copart purchase to me and everything they sell is expensive and with hidden problems. The Trade are now dumping problem cars at Copart and its a very dangerous expensive risk to buy from them.
