Methodist should make George Whitefield cool again. He was a Calvinist Methodist. That’s a Methodism I could get with!

Just started the video. This is the one thing that ultimately keeps me from being a full blown Wesleyan. Excited to watch this!

The problem with this, is the idea of perfection actually becomes an idol in and of itself, over imperfectly loving God just for love's sake; it feeds pride in performance. Because of our sin nature that is always residual in this life, our deceitful heart will constantly be looking for ways to smuggle hidden self-righteousness under the banner of grace. No one can reach perfection in this life, period, it's delusion. There is value in brokenness, the admission that we are fundamentally faulty. Jesus is all the perfection we need. The holier a saint is, the more sinful they see that they are. The way up is down. More of Christ, less of me, means it's not about my performance anymore, but to simply grow in grace where I am.

The goal of perfection is love towards God. Not self, which is the opposite of it. In heaven, we’ll be perfect. Surely you don’t think that means it’ll be an idol in heaven?

It's delusional to believe that we can keep in step with the Holy Spirit every day?
This is the part of the discussion I don't comprehend from people who object to Entire Sanctification. Are you suggesting to me that the Holy Spirit is unable and lacks the power to overcome our sin nature? Even on this side of heaven?
If the Holy Spirit lives in us and the power of sin has been overcome by the cross, then entire sanctification is necessarily a reality. If it is not, then the Holy Spirit cannot overcome the flesh through our faith and submission to the will of God. If that is the case, then you have to confess, logically, that the Holy Spirit does not have the power to overcome the sin in our lives.
Now, the response can be, "The Holy Spirit is able to cleanse our sin, but we are unable to respond in a way where entire sanctification is a reality."
Two things: 1) Entire sanctification is not something we accomplish, but something which is accomplished in us by God and 2) the Holy Spirit grants us the ability to respond to his direction and calling.
I do not see how we can logically dismiss entire sanctification as a reality if we look at the matter from a top-down perspective. If we start with God and work down to humans, entire sanctification is not only theoretical, but a practical reality.

I would redo the video and name it can Christians not be nasty, mean, and cruel?

But the "involuntary sin" in the example given doesn't sound like a "sin" per se; sounds more like an "accident."

Also, I thought all sin is voluntary, and that's what makes it sin. Help!
