    I'll get the honesty out of the way first: I'm not a fan of Fords or large SUV's. That said, your review of the Expedition here has somewhat challenged my perspective. Quite an impressive vehicle overall! However, I also do not like that push button manual mode setup. It's too bad Ford couldn't have put paddle shifters on this one like they do with the all new Raptor. While I myself will probably never buy an Expedition, I wouldn't shy away from recommending it to someone in the market for a large SUV....or at least test drive one. Another great review, Paul! :)

    Finally!!!! A reviewer who is aware of the fact that the 2nd row captains chairs DON'T keep the dogs and groceries in the back! You even have a Rhodesian Ridgeback! I have two and the idea of no barrier for my freaky 80 lbs rescue who wants to get into my lap in the car is what's keeping me from getting a midsized vehicle. I love my dogs, but I love my creature comforts too. I want all the bells and whistles, so being able to have the ventilated seats, huge moon roof and all the safety features AND a 2nd row bench. Well, the Expedition meets all those needs. It's just going to take a couple of weeks to get comfortable parking a full-size SUV again.

    This is unrealistic without a v8. It is hard to believe this turbo engine could tow so much on a regular basis. These vehicles are known to depreciate quickly. Most likely you will be able to get one for around 40 grand. Most American males don't like knobs for a grandmother. Dodge finally caught on in their Durango.

    Thx I’ve followed you for a few yrs your rear facing kids seat is one that dads with little kids really get!!! Though my kids are in boosters now and soon out of those. I do recommend your reviews to our younger friends with kids!!!! Regarding the Expedition we bought one. For all the reasons you mentioned. Plus there are zero mid sized SUVs today that offer the space and 4x4 we had in our old 2006 Sequoia. It was a frustrating process trust me! We didn’t buy another Toyota because they are old as dirt and a decade behind in technology. 👍

    Expeditions with one formerly motorized board half-deployed coming to your town in two years. This is obscenely expensive and this is why car manufacturers love SUVs and the fat profit margins they bring. A similarly equipped minivan would cost 30% less. This vehicle is targeting the "Joe the Plumber" blue collar types who pay BMW money for full size pickup trucks.

    Are there any versions with a split bench up front?

    • @mobgma

      Yes

    • @mountainhobo
      @mountainhobo 6 лет назад

      @mobgma: Which model would that be? I've been looking at Ford's website, and they only list second row split bench, never front, in any trim that I see. What am I missing?

    • @mobgma
      @mobgma 6 лет назад +1

      Not available in XLT Trim. Have to go Limited (2nd row cloth) or Platinum (2nd row leather) for it to show up as an available option for the interior lol. $400 Adder CDN. Not sure what your missing but it is their as an option. I just did it.

    • @mountainhobo
      @mountainhobo 6 лет назад

      Wow, that's counterintuitive. I thought it would be like in a truck -- available in a work truck. An option for higher trims... that I wasn't looking at. Heh, thanks, I will check it out.

    A lot of the roads near me are in disrepair and crumbling along the sides on the edge of drops, and I am scared if I drove a vehicle this wide I would catch the place where the asphalt is damaged and end up flipped over in a ravine.

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  6 лет назад +1

      It's not that much wider than a smaller SUV like an Explorer. Its length that's the real change.

    I learned a new word--parkade (@7:18). As someone who loves learning about the differences in the English language, whether internationally or just regionally, that was great.
    Next time I head north to Montreal or Toronto, I now know to ask for directions to the parkade. Thanks Paul!

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  6 лет назад +1

      Haha... that's fantastic. You don't say parkade in the states?

    • @rnunez6398
      @rnunez6398 6 лет назад

      No, we don't. At least I've never heard it used. Here's what I'm familiar with:
      Parking Lot for a paved, striped surface. I think in Europe they use the term Car Parks. What do you say in Canada?
      Parking Structure for a multi-level building (often connected to a shopping mall/center or to a hospital), if being more formal. More often I hear Parking Deck or Parking Garage used. The underground parking you reference I experience most often in NYC and if memory serves right, people tend to refer to those as Parking Garages.
      When visiting Minnesota, I seem to remember people there calling them Parking Ramps. Maybe that's a mid-western thing?

    This new expedition is AWESOME BUT they really screwed up on rear windshield wiper. They should have taken a page from the Yukon where it is hidden nicely under the spoiler. The design under the spoiler also fares better long term especially under nasty snowy conditions. The only problem with the Yukon is for the big $$$, you don't even get 360 degree cameras in the Denali. Cmon GM...

    • @j.r.3602
      @j.r.3602 6 лет назад

      mobgma I think the reason the rear wiper isn't hidden underneath the spoiler is because the Expedition has a rear window that opens independently from the tailgate. So, opening the rear window with the spoiler up top wouldn't allow for it to completely open outward like it does.
      Edit: grammar.

    Hey Paul, I really enjoy your work. Your reviews are very good, on point and super professional. However I have one pet peeve. I like the name of your channel but to say that it is for "your growing family" is a bit too much. I have 2 kids (5 & 8) and I am perfectly happy as it is and the last thing that I want on earth is another kid. Therefore you can just say "another review for your lovely family" and it would be more appropriate. Keep up the good work. Say hello to Roger and to your lovely wife Devon.

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  6 лет назад

      Hi Joe... that's an interesting point. I hear you on being satisfied with your current family. We're the same! This is just a catch phrase. The whole impetus for the channel came about when we were about to have Roger and I realized no channels were specifically addressing the needs of couples expecting child(ren). Not at all meant to suggest you need to keep having them, though!

    • @jocelynchouinard
      @jocelynchouinard 6 лет назад

      you are right, most channels are more "generic" and are not addressing a specific need. Keep up the good work!

    Looked at it. WAY to much cheap plastic around the dash and especially the steering wheel. This model should be $65k tops. They've inflated the price to quality ratio by a large margin.
    I'd buy a used Lexus LX 570 or for this price as shown or you might be able to get a new one.
    I walked away from it thinking it was nice but not $80k nice.
    Also I have concerns about putting a 6 cylinder engine into a 3 ton vehicle for long term reliability.
    The LX570 appropriately has the V8 which is a walk in the park for a 3 ton vehicle.
    Nice review.

    This is one of those vehicles i really question why it exists other than those who want excess in life. Im going to date myself but i remember my parents fitting 4 Wisconsin farm kids in there Tarus wagon with two adults in as well. Why do we need these huge boats on the road? They are more like weapons given the size and blind spots. I clearly just don't get it

      We’re looking into a car like this and the main reason is because we have two children in car seats and they take up soooo much space (we currently drive an XV Crosstrek). We also live far away from family so we need a car that can fit people plus luggage when they come to visit so guests don’t have to worry about renting a car, we also move a lot (Military) and we drive our car cross country with the kids and household essentials. So this is very necessary for a lot of people

  • @yogiyo888

    If you are considering a 4x4, be sure to listen for the sleigh bells going off in the transfer case when you apply throttle in the 4A mode. It is beyond annoying that you have to hear that in a vehicle that costs $70K+. You don’t hear it in any other Ford or Lincoln vehicle. There were 5 other problems that points to a cheap build. I had the new Raptor and it was great. But the problems I have with my 30-day old 2020 Expedition is a complete disappointment. My conclusion is that this is an over priced car. There were lot to like about the car. But those problems should not be present in what is essentially Ford’s flagship car. Totally disappointed.
