I was a 8-9 yr old little girl running home from school to play moms record of this & other Jackson 5 songs. OMGooodness!! So sick when he passed, I think I went through a whole roll of tissue, smh RIP forever loved & missed ♥
Willie Hutch, a producer back in the day, wrote this for MJ. Willie also did his version of the song. You might wanna chk him out!!! Willie also wrote "I Choose You" from the movie soundtrack "The Mack". That song has been sampled soooo many times!!😊
Around that age he also recorded his version of “People Make The World Go Round” that rivals the one by the Stylistics, recorded when Michael was 13, and released the same year - 1972.
Check out “Maria (You Were The Only One)”, “Never Can Say Goodbye “, “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Love Is Here And Now You’re Gone” also check out Foster Sylvers’ “Misdemeanor”
the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson and the Jacksons HAD SOME OF THE FUNKIEST MUSIC EVER. growing up, i saw every J%, Jacksons, Micheal Jackson concert. still have the program books from 60, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc.
I'm an old skooler with that reverse ability. I can recognize any chord (and name the song) from the 20th Century sampled by anyone after the year 2000. Guess that makes me *Reverse Flash!*
Michael Jackson - Ain't No Sunshine / With A Child's Heart / Doggin' Me Around Michael Jackson - People Make The World Go Round / Jackson 5 - Can You Remember / Don't Say Goodbye Again / All I Do (is think of you)
@@DjTIMEJD No doubt, P/Funk was in a class of their own. They were on the Mothership in another world. I really don't know what to classify them as. They were no EW&F, Jackson 5, Brass Construction, Spinners, Skyy, Commodores, Tavares. I consider them Soul / R&B.
Jermaine Dupri also sampled this in his song called “Been Away”. It was used in the movie Drumline. Maybe that’s where you’ve also heard a sample of this song 👌🏽
Younger Michael: "I'll Be There", "Got To Be There", "Ben", "Never Can Say Goodbye", "Don't Know Why I Love You" (originally recorded by Stevie Wonder"), "Sugar Daddy". He has gems as a teenager/young adult (The Jacksons). Give a listen to: "Push Me Away", "All I Do Is Think Of You" (this song was redone by Troop in 1989), "That's What You Get For Being Polite".
THIS (BEAUTIFUL) SONG IS ONE OF MANY (BEAUTFUL CLASSICS) FROM MICHAEL AND HIS BROTHERS (THE JACKSON 5). THIS WAS DONE IN THE (70'S). I WAS FROM THAT (GENERATION) AND A (GREAT FAN) FROM THOSE DAYS. YOU CAN HERE THAT SONG AND MANY OTHERS FROM THE MOVIE (THE "JACKSONS", AN AMERICAN DREAM", THAT TELLS ABOUT THEIR (RISE) TO (FAME) AND (HISTORY). I RECOMMEND IT IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT. IT TELLS THEIR FAMILY HISTORY. 😄😄😄😄
Yeah, MC had multiple sample on Poor Georgie, with the main one being Halle Berry’s ex, Eric Benet’s Georgie Poorgie, which he recorded, featuring Faith Evans. In the middle of Lyte’s track the sample of Michael’s voice singin ‘Can it be I’m stayin away too long’, is thrown in. It’s kinda mish mosh how it’s done, with other stuff & not really in the same key as the track, but that’s part of that samplin culture.
Awww, I LOVEEE this SONG🥰Lol, I lost my sh!t cleaning when I found an old MOTOWN 45 vinyl album that was my moms of "DEAR MICHAEL" and opposite side "JUST A LITTLE BIT OF YOU"❤So your reaction made me SMILE AND wanna go through ALL her old records and see what she's STASHING from me LOL🤣
I miss the days when bongos and congos were used in soul music. Eddie "Bongo" Brown on this song by the great Leon Ware and Arthur "T-Boy" Ross , Diana Ross's brother.
As a 32 yr old that grew up listening to all decades of music as well as growing up in the 90s and 2000s . I notice all the samples and you definitely impress me . You have an ear for a fact
no lol they all sound the same. when they sampled back in the day it was a different groove, because everyone had their own interpretation of the sample
It's a good thing (in some ways) that artists sample because it keeps legends work alive, but at the same time it's sad that these individuals don't have their own musical creativity.
I had all this MJ / J5 stuff in my collection. I know every note and nuanced vocal. It's safe to say that Mike, while at Motown, NEVER mailed it in. The Mowtown production level was second to NONE in providing him with great writers and producers. Strictly isolated as a singer, as a child he could match any elite and vital adult who thriving at that time (Marvin, Stevie, Frank, Mathis, Sammy ...).
MJ was lit for 40 years straight. unreal!!!
He was the most BEAUTIFUL looking child. He was simply GORGEOUS. I hate what happened to his looks later. It was simply tragic.
Favorite lil MJ song
This is my favorite MJ song it's just one of them songs that really puts you in a happy mood Michael Jackson forever the King of Pop 👑
I was a 8-9 yr old little girl running home from school to play moms record of this & other Jackson 5 songs. OMGooodness!! So sick when he passed, I think I went through a whole roll of tissue, smh RIP forever loved & missed ♥
One of my favs "Looking Through The Window - The Jackson 5"
One of the Very best albums. "To Know" beats "I'll Be There" to me.
Michael Jackson is phenomenal. I've been listening to his music since 1970. "Got To Be There" all the way to 2014's "Love Never Felt So Good".
This is song came 50 years ago and still jamming
Willie Hutch, a producer back in the day, wrote this for MJ. Willie also did his version of the song. You might wanna chk him out!!! Willie also wrote "I Choose You" from the movie soundtrack "The Mack". That song has been sampled soooo many times!!😊
Willie Hutch is also the uncle of Cold187um from the Above the Law rap group.
This song was Leon Ware and Tboy Ross(Diana Ross' brother) Willie Hutch produced it
I was at work when this came on the radio one time.Same week he passed away.Hit me hard. This is my first time hearing this track since then.
One of my favorite songs by MJ I love this song.
Around that age he also recorded his version of “People Make The World Go Round” that rivals the one by the Stylistics, recorded when Michael was 13, and released the same year - 1972.
That sucks they didn't put his version out as a single
Check out “Maria (You Were The Only One)”, “Never Can Say Goodbye “, “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Love Is Here And Now You’re Gone” also check out Foster Sylvers’ “Misdemeanor”
Yes!! "Misdemeanor" Jam!!
The drumming on this track is 👌🏾
His eyes😻😻😻😻
This is a classic.
God bless him. He was destined for greatness!
Yes JJ your sample knowledge is off the hook! Take a bow baby!
MC Lyte sampled this song,"Poor Georgie".
The song is from the group Toto with Georgie Porgy
the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson and the Jacksons HAD SOME OF THE FUNKIEST MUSIC EVER. growing up, i saw every J%, Jacksons, Micheal Jackson concert. still have the program books from 60, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc.
Yea, your sample flashbacks are on another level. Love this song, yes!
YES!! Always loved the harpsichord in this song!
* The BEN Album was my fave as a youngster.
*Ear For Samples is definitely sharp
You're right. And Nick Cannon from The Drumline Soundtrack.
Yes. I agree that your sample knowledge is insane! Yes, you got it right on MC Lyte. You're the man.
His Google sample knowledge because every black person over 18 knows this song, please...
It was in "Drumline"
bruh that instrumental accompaniment and musical arrangement has all the telltale signs of trademark Motown brilliance and magic!
You be on point with the samples bro! Lol
I try!
There's probably 20 plus samples of this song lol
I'm an old skooler with that reverse ability. I can recognize any chord (and name the song) from the 20th Century sampled by anyone after the year 2000. Guess that makes me *Reverse Flash!*
Michael Jackson - Ain't No Sunshine / With A Child's Heart / Doggin' Me Around
Michael Jackson - People Make The World Go Round /
Jackson 5 - Can You Remember / Don't Say Goodbye Again / All I Do (is think of you)
There will never be another MJ! Once in an Eternity…..RIH MJ😢
Most R&B songs back in the 70's were often right around or just under 3 minutes.....
Except for Parlament/Funkadelic
@@DjTIMEJD No doubt, P/Funk was in a class of their own. They were on the Mothership in another world. I really don't know what to classify them as. They were no EW&F, Jackson 5, Brass Construction, Spinners, Skyy, Commodores, Tavares. I consider them Soul / R&B.
I think it was The Temptations who started to make songs over the 3-3 and a half minute mark. Papa was a rolling stone was almost 7 minutes long.
Jermaine Dupri also sampled this in his song called “Been Away”. It was used in the movie Drumline. Maybe that’s where you’ve also heard a sample of this song 👌🏽

Michael Jackson IS a "FORCE OF NATURE".
THIS (BEAUTIFUL) SONG IS ONE OF MANY (BEAUTFUL CLASSICS) FROM MICHAEL AND HIS BROTHERS (THE JACKSON 5). THIS WAS DONE IN THE (70'S). I WAS FROM THAT (GENERATION) AND A (GREAT FAN) FROM THOSE DAYS. This song reminds me when I was 14 loved it then and still now. Thanks little brother

I agree young Brotha, your sample IQ is amazing

Ross's brother.
Thus was the first record album I bought. I think I was 10 years old and had gotten a small record player fir Christmas.
Your sample knowledge is indeed insane, thank goodness! Teach your peers!
You got it!
As a 32 yr old that grew up listening to all decades of music as well as growing up in the 90s and 2000s . I notice all the samples and you definitely impress me . You have an ear for a fact
So with all this sampling, I'm wondering do any of the newer artists create anything unique or original on their own?
no lol they all sound the same. when they sampled back in the day it was a different groove, because everyone had their own interpretation of the sample

everything old school you play/listen to is #sampled, EVERYTHING :)
Damn nailed it, MC Lyte Poor Georgie.
MC Lyte sampled TOTO VERSION OF GORGY PORGY featuring Cheryl Lynn
She sampled this song as well on the hook. - www.whosampled.com/sample/4700/MC-Lyte-Poor-Georgie-Michael-Jackson-I-Wanna-Be-Where-You-Are/
Drumline
I was about to reply they played this during a montage in the movie Drumline.
Love this song! Can you please also do "Who's Loving You?" Thanks!
Also sampled for "Back Where I've Stayed" by Choclair.
You gots hops in the sample dept., no doubt! In the middle of the song You hear tsp dancing to the beat.

Classic! SWV performed a nice cover of this song on the “Hav Plenty” soundtrack. Check it out.
I'm late but the movie u was talking about is "the jacksons an american dreams"
I want you back and who's loving you
Yep. MC Lyte on poor georgie on the chorus
Interesting 2Pac would sample this. I wouldn’t say him and MJ had beef but certainly not eye to eye(unless I’m mistaken) Talent recognizes talent.
This the L.A. Motown days stuff
Tupac sampled a ton of his mama's music.
Murs sampled it as well
Mc lite was TOTO the group that made Georgie porchie
Your sample knowledge is good young man but there is still more to learn on your journey.
Listen to the willie hutch version. Its even better
Maybe you heard it in the Jackson 5 movie
This sounds so similar to Janelle Monaes It’s Code from 2013
Beyoncé sampled this at a MJ Tribute.
SWV remade this too.
Beyoncé also did a remake...
Yes you Did Mc Lyte
❤️
Can you react to Michael Jackson- on the line
Bro do Jonzun Crew “Space Cowboy”
Please react to Maria by MJ...
Seems like all rappers know to do is steal other artists music because they aren't real singers or writers themselves.
