The Sisters have been such a good thing for this franchise, its crazy how their appearances can lead to a lot of hype moments, gold comedy, very likable attitude literally no matter the arc on top of actually bailing Touma and Accel out of their worst/most depressing moments in their life (at least for now).
True, they definitely have a variety of roles in the story!
It's kinda annoying/sad that Misaka herself is never involved or rarely with the arcs or moments regarding the clones. Unless it's in her own Manga.
But instead gets shoved in arcs were she is not even needed and is there for fan service. Which is why I get even as a hardcore Misaka fan why people get annoyed by her constantly being there yet her character is not doing anything or rarely moves forward. I'd rather have her appear waaay less and actually be put in in interesting science side situations or stuff regarding the sisters like accelator. Heck, have the two team up once in awhile. We haven't seen them working together in ages.
@@Zenfrogn ye, tbh im still going to hang on what Kamachi said in an interview a while ago that he wants to leave both Index and Misaka's development for later. But i know it can get very annoying when the fanbase starts arguing regarding anything with her (curiously the reddit sub went on flames yesterday with this same argument about popularity...)
Man, I love how Kamachi depicts and intermingle Science and Magic concepts together. Not only does shit like this expand the lore of the series but it also gives a concrete example of Aleister being a genius in his own verse. He's not just tell no show like a lot of other anime villain that wanks off their villains as geniuses just by having op abilities.
Yeah for real, Aleister is such an amazing character

I remember almost falling out of my chair when I got to the point where the Clonoth came into play. It was such a cool climax dor all of that buildup. Its stuff like this that makes this one of my favorite series ever.

This certainly pushes me towards my second theory for how magic and science, in regards to powers, are the same thing as Aleister has stated themself. My initial theory had to do with magic circuits and AIM being a type of sparks or spray. However as I have been reviewing things I came to a sort of realization, there is a much better explanation with tangible examples to use in order to backup the theory. So here goes the rough version of my secondary theory, which I think will become my go to theory from now on.
My theory is that the academy city esper development program is designed to remodel the bodies and minds of espers to be closer to that of angels. This remodelling is done in order to take advantage of idol theory. In idol theory an object or person that shares certain characteristics with a subject, in this case angels, and as such is able to harness a small fraction of their abilities. Idol theory is the reason that magicians can utilize magic in the first place as being children of god they are supposed to be made in his image and thus take on a small part of his abilities, think something like the power system in needless. With this in mind the esper development program could be changing the bodies and minds of espers so that they are closer to angels and thus different from god. This would explain why trying to use magic causes a rejection, as they are essentially trying to use a different system of power like using DC in an appliance that uses AC.
We actually have an example of something similar in the story with the members of God's right seat and their alignment with the 4 archangels. The members of the group lack the ability to use common magic that normal magicians use, known as imitative magic as it is based on idol theory, but instead use special spells that are tweaked to work with them based on their aligned archangel. In the story it is explained that this is achieved through diluting their original sin and thus losing the sin that originates from eating the fruit of knowledge and that is why they are able to use angel like magic but not imitation magic that is "meant for humans". However we know from the light novels that the basis of esper powers is built from the theory found in The Temple of Thelma, as Toyama Luca noted after viewing the AAA that was in Mikoto's possession. This would make sense as we know that Aleister hated Christianity, despite being better versed in it than pretty much any character to date, and his theory of magic built upon knowledge given to him by Aiwass didn't use Christianity as a frame work. As such what the members of God's right seat were said to be diluting may not have been their sin but their likeness to god and as such they changed the system of magic that they function within.
This change would also explain why Accelerator is able to use magic to some extent despite being an esper and why he is able to prevent most of the effects of the feedback if he uses magic of his own free will. In short because imitation magic and the abilities from espers use different currents, think the AC and DC example from earlier, then by using his vector control abilities he can convert one to the other in order to prevent or limit the effects of feedback. This also explains why despite his knowledge of magic he is still able to be hurt by unwittingly casting a magic spell without preparing himself first.
This would mean that the ultimate goal of level six is to fully embody an angel, maybe one such as Aiwass, and thus obtain powers far beyond humanity. It would also explain why so much of the level six project needed the sisters network and its tree of knowledge to function as the shift required occupying the 11th circle.
I could keep going from here but I am still working on this theory and I am sure there are either misunderstandings or a lack of information in some parts, so I will end it here.

Hell yeah, people can still find enjoyment from the series without having to understand every single concept from it, but if you do it definitely can enhance the story

I feel like it's hinted that there's a magic of divinity. The magic of God. The division of this divinity is science and magic. When you put them together you create divinity, Humanity is able to tap into to forbidden power. It would explain why science and magic have such an intimate relationship within this universe. Because they're 1/2 of a whole

The Misaka network is like building an American house with American materials, techniques, and manpower (Science) while using a layout from Japan (magic) as the blueprint. Or something like that.
So glad you made this video topic about the misaka network I read to aru concepts and plots from the wiki. I love your channel which makes things often easier to understand. To aru world building and lore is so deep and complex one.

@@AeonofHorus I think it quite interesting take how he fuses magic and science. I might could say I never seen anything fuse the concepts better. I also watch otakudaikun channel which I love because I love complex worlds like to aru and typemoon also known as the nasuverse.
What's interesting is that if Kakine actually mastered Dark Matter perfectly then he would have built up an even better Misaka Network considering that he is as smart as Accelerator and can produce infinite versions of himself, hell, if we take it further, if he ever discovered magic or Telesma, the next thing you know, Kakine would end up creating an artificial demon similar to how Coronzon did via the Qliphoth and Kakine creates a Kabbalistic Tree for himself. It's a shame how Kamachi put him in a backseat when Kakine had the potential to become one of the most dangerous enemies of Accelerator, and to an extent, Hamazura and Touma.
Also since Qlipah is from the Qliphoth and Accelerator needs Qlipah to access Clonoth, it's probably safe to assume that Clonoth is more closely tied to Qliphoth so I wonder what would happen if the tree was based on Sephiroth
Precisely bc of intrinsically complicated Dark Matter is, i still expect Kamachi to deepen into him. We gotta remember this series is going for like idk 100 volumes so theres always time to debunk every single thing as long as its interesting 😂 (just like how we all expect to have more Aihana and Sogiita's backstory or arcs)

One thought experiment I have been thinking about is would it be possible for a person who forms all of their beliefs based on science and can perform science perfectly as well as trying to progress science as much as possible to both believe in and a master a fictional settings magic system but for a series like toaru I think the answer is obviously yes since there's a whole science side to the magic system.

Aeon please help me out here cause I love index but I don’t like reading light novels so your videos have been a HUGE help, what I don’t get is WHY does the misaka network have its own tree of life humans, angels and god exist in the sephirot while demons demon lords and demon kings exist in the qlipoth but aren’t the sisters just clones so they’re still biologically human so why do they create their own tree, it’d really help me out if you answer
The Misaka clones produce a massive amount of AIM or psychic energy thanks to the network, that exists via their brains being linked together from electric signals. AIM is linked to Aiwass who is a 'scientific angel' with links to the magic side. Just as the tree of life is structured in the sense that humans, angels and god are linked via their souls/life force, the Misaka clones are all linked too via the network. Since the Misaka network was based off Aiwass and the tree of life, it is able to create artificial angels like Fuse Kazakiri, and holds the key to becoming a Level 6, or the equivalent of God in the tree of life. Wasn't it obvious esper powers were magic? I mean, a bunch of old guys in robes put a lot of weird substances in your body until you awaken a mysterious energy most have the potential to awaken but few have the talent to and use it to reject reality and substitute it with your own? That's texbook magic.
In D&D terms, magicians who study magic to wield it are wizards, gemstones are sorcerers that are born magical and interact with magic in ways that cant (easily) be done artificially, and espers are artifical gemstones that have more defined/limited powers.
...I think Touma is a warlock.

Also the author has been reading up on magic. He probably has a deep interest in the occult. There's a lot of usage of words from many schools of belief of magic.

@@AeonofHorus Well I imagine he's read some kind of western literature on the subject of magic. He has a good grasp on the understanding of it and how he plays with the ideas about magic. I look up a lot about magic even though I don't practice it. He's like subtlety writing Hellblazer but with a very, very anime coat of paint. It's kind of amazing.
