I like how you perfectly correlates the Transcendants to Touma's new identity (post OT 1). As someone who is still reading half of OT, I now understand why the ToAru fandom (specifically in Reddit) are hyping and have very long thoughts about this particular arc in Index. I really don't mind the spoilers though since I'll forget them anyway... But still I can't wait to get to *that* part of that cliffhanger in GT. But that would take months of reading, and especially I'm excited first about the NT first since we all know where that is heading 😏

Well that was certainly eye opening. My own personally knowledge about the transcendence was severely lacking so I learned way more then expected from the video. This is one of those videos I will have to save and rewatch again. There is a lot in interesting things and game changing notions in here to take in. On a side note, the way you had the uncensored sign rotating around really had me on the edge of my seat trying to catch the small glimpses of the avatar it was covering lol.
Uh, one thing. Power aside, the special transcendents don't actually need secret chiefs to use their powers. 1-Anna Sprengal became a transcendent of Anna Sprengal first, then used that power to summon Awaiss later, this is stated in gt10. She did it because on her own she couldn't come close to the real Anna Kingsford even with transcendent power, so she tried filling in the gaps with Awaiss. 2- CRC and Alice seemingly have no connection or dependency on the secret chiefs power-wise at all. They are independently powerful. Only the normal transcendents need secret chiefs, because they are all basically immitations of Alice. They are mass produced and obtain power by having Alice open a rift in the world to connect them to a secret chief. Because they can't become transcendents on their own. They are dependent on Alice and on the secret chiefs for power, because they didn't become transcendents on their own.
While Anna became Anna Sprengel on her own and then used Aiwass for a further boost, GT7's Between the Lines implies that she was contacted by the Secret Chiefs to be their priestess before becoming Anna Sprengel. This can be implied because she's asked by "a being" if she's willing to become "a vessel" to achieve her goal. It's then stated she become a Transcendent. So while yes, Alice and CRC don't seem to have power from the Secret Chiefs, Anna seems to have been tied to them before boosting herself with Aiwass. And we also can't rule out the possibility of the Divine Cosplay spell itself coming from the Secret Chiefs. It's started to have been made by a "Teacher of Crowley." While Aleister had various human teachers, real life Aleister claimed contact with at least 4 (possibly 5) Secret Chiefs; Aiwass, Abuldiz, Amalantrah, and an unnamed person he says was "a companion" of his. So there's some possibility that Secret Chiefs could've created this spell. For more evidence, in NT22R, Anna says that it's more convenient to set oneself up in a position that allows them to draw on Secret Chief power than to go through the process of becoming one. While it's not explicitly stated, this is probably referring to becoming a Transcendent. So there's some tie between Divine Cosplay and being able to draw on the power of a Transcendent. However, for now, it is only Regular Transcendents and Anna that are explicitly confirmed to have ties to Secret Chiefs and you don't need Secret Chiefs' power to become a Transcendent. But, there is a slight hint that Alice might've had power from a Secret Chief too, that being the fact that she seemed to be part of the summoning ritual. Certain lines of dialogue seem to imply that the spells borrowed from the Secret Chiefs combined elements of the Transcendents' characters with Magickal concepts, seemingly to allow each one to contribute to the ritual. But it's never explicitly stated she's connected to a Secret Chief.

In CRC's(and also Anna's) case they used the seven walled tomb as a battery. I suppose the cosplay was to create a way to absorb and use that power while remaining human. Anna says she needed Awaiss to fill in the gaps, CRC as a true expert, could probably do it on his own. I think Alice's power functions independentally of them, although she probably could draw power from them if she wanted.

A good comparison would be God's Right Seat Magicians or even Espers, tbh I think a lot of the Level 5's if they got buffed could be on a similar level of power to regular Transcendents. (Not Irregular ones except Accelerator, and Maybe later Kakine and Gunha.)

They are. TMGs presence stated to destroy the physical world if they entered it. But at the same time, Alice's reality warping seems like it has more hax than the Magic Gods' phase magic.

Alastair I feel would have some interesting insights on this situation, considering that the foundation of their worldview (and the quote above) is that any act of human will must be performed with Love (Higer Consciousness or Free Will) at its foundation, and in accordance to one's True Will (which is distinct from the ordinary wants and desires of the ego. The True Will is essentially one's "calling" or "purpose" in life) or the resultant product will ultimately be chaotic. By this philosophy only actions based upon Love, therefore in harmony with Morality and Natural Law, could ever produce Order, either in our personal lives or society as a whole. That draws an eerie amount of parallels to the current plotline in some ways, does it not?
To be fair about the LARPing, GREMLIN were also LARPing, just to a lesser degree. And True GREMLIN had some LARPers as well like Tezcatlipoca (though, that doesn't seem by choice). Secret Chiefs can seemingly do it too since Aiwass seems to be able to take on forms based on different interpretations of him, such as an alien or a form seemingly based on Horus.
honestly though, i think transcendents are literally the same concept as espers, but far less controlled and unhinged. :) I love it. the main difference, espers draw from themselves, while they draw from mythologies.

Book just arrived, and holy shit, it is heavy. I was planning to read it while laying down on bed, but no way Am I having the book on top of my stomach while laying on my back to read it like I usual do when reading books in bed.
It's confusing to me that we never heard of the Transcendents before and wish to know their role in the Toaru Universe. I mean they could challenge the magic side outside the magic gods, what were they doing throughout NT. Outside of Alice, none of them are amazing characters and still need time to connect with them. Plus we're getting Trismegistus entering Acceleator's prison.
Finally a video about the Transcendnts, thanks Aeon a lot. I've been actually waiting for you to upload a video about them, thanks for explaining, I honestly feel bad about my favorite Transcendent Alice, her backstory is just horrible, meanwhile I can't understand how Trismegistus salvation condition is "common sense" despite his actions. The rest of the Transcendents salvation condition sure I can understand but for Trismegistus its hard to. We also need more information about the Secret Chiefs, hopefully in the future in GT.
Hey aeon wasn't it stated in epilog of GT6 that they did survive the initial destruction of all phases and stated to be able to kill othinus(probably just ment alice)but the problem was if they did kill her there will well be now way to recreate the world so they all excepted death when she created the first phase against touma.
No, that was Kamachi explaining the difference between the transcendents and the magic gods. The key word Kamachi uses is 'if', as in a hypothetical scenario. Only Touma and Othinus were left in the black world of NT9.

True GREMLIN was wanted potential. Same with half of the Terrorist GREMLIN. 90% of them was offcreen, and beside Othinus, only Marian and Thor Made a lasting impact on the story. The Transcendents meanwhile were all decent characters except for the three recent ones we got.
can someone explain to me how touma is so op in this seris im genuinely curious i know he can repell all esper powers with his right hand but thats just it its just his right hand surely the level 5 esper has noticed it so whats stopping them from either just chop his legs and left arm off and die of bleeding or just aim for any part that isnt the right hand
Bc Touma himself is smart about his fighting, the anime version nerfed him so bad that it looks like gets lucky but i promise you he is always putting himself in a good position, planning and strategizing mid battle in the light novel. Plus if his imagine breaker fails you gotta deal with the dragons but that wouldnt make the story interesting

@@1pr0fessor1 He could definitely dodge it, and debatable survive it given the numerous superhuman feats of durability he has in the series. Also, Accelerator doesn't fight like that against Touma. TLDR: he's just him, and anything you can think of in regards to "why don't they just do this" has likely already been tried against him, to varying levels of success.

H.T. Trimegistus is the transcendent that makes the least amount of sense to me. Like his Common sense sometimes isn't related to common sense at all.
Index questioned his common sense in the story itself. She questioned if Trismegistus' common sense is merely majoritarianism.

Bc Touma himself is smart about his fighting, the anime version nerfed him so bad that it looks like gets lucky but i promise you he is always putting himself in a good position, planning and strategizing mid battle in the light novel.
Plus if his imagine breaker fails you gotta deal with the dragons but that wouldnt make the story interesting

@@1pr0fessor1 whats the point of that? Touma already fought against people flocking builds at him tbh and yeah Accel can do that no problem but that wont make the story interesting nor give Accel his massive character development after the defeats
@@1pr0fessor1 He could definitely dodge it, and debatable survive it given the numerous superhuman feats of durability he has in the series.
Also, Accelerator doesn't fight like that against Touma.
TLDR: he's just him, and anything you can think of in regards to "why don't they just do this" has likely already been tried against him, to varying levels of success.
