I think it is worth it because there is more fluid so when the warm fluid mixes with the cool fluid since there is more cooler fluid then it should help keep the transmission somewhat cooler. There is a drain plug too which can come in handy.
I replaced both my Trans pan and oil pan. I would say highly recommend. More oil= more lubricant, more trans fluid= cooler trans temp. Plus I upgraded my trans cooler. Keep it up Josh, you've helped me gain knowledge and confidence in every upgrade I've done. I just got doing a 64mm RDS turbo and HSP bundle kit. Your the reason I have the know how to do everything with my LBZ!!! 🤙👊
I’m all in favor of deep transmission pans but there are some things to keep in mind Your transmission comes up to temperature by processing the fluid through. More fluid simply means it’ll take longer to come up to temperature and/or change temperature. Once all the fluid has processed through however it should be about the same temperature. The upside comes from when something goes wrong. Because you have more fluid to use, problems that would cause overheating are cushioned and give you more time to notice and more time to stop and check. What would cause the temperatures to be lower is dissipating heat. This is caused by those fins you see on the outside increasing surface area and allowing it to get rid of that heat outside of the pan. The point is- The problems that cause overheating are still going to be there. If you’re having overheating problems in your transmission this will not fix it. Those who notice lower temperatures often or once you drive shorter distances therefore their transmission doesn’t have the time to come up to temperature. You should also wear the extra cost associated with owning a deep transmission pan. The best thing you can do with an Allison is regular fluid and filter changes. If having this pan makes you want to stretch out those fluid changes you’re going to cause more harm than good.
I have one on my lly and didn't really notice a difference other than it taking longer to heat up and longer to cool down. If you really want to keep your trans cool then buy a solid aluminum cold case radiator.
I don't know watching Mr. Banks video on rear diff covers I'm very skeptical on any mod these days without seeing the tec data to back it up. Good video though
There's a difference between a rear gear cover with a ring gear slinging or beating oil vs a transmission or engine oil pan that just draw the oil or fluid out via a pump.
@@MrTundra2008 Changes stuff around? It adds more fluid capacity, it's cast aluminum and much more rigid compared to the stamped steel pan. It's a plus all the way around.
My argument against OE is the engineers have to design to a price point. Though with many of today's trucks being nearly $100k and some even over $100k one could say there price point has gone out the window. 🤣😂😵

Got the PPE deep pan, deep internal filter, and deep external filter on my 08 LMM. And yes, I think it is worth it. I plan on buying the PPE oil pan and oil filter next.
@@TruckMaster No prob man. If you do the deep oil pan in conjunction with the new high capacity PPE oil filters it raises our oil capacity to a full 12 quarts/ 3 gallons. The deep transmission pan on the Allison adds an additional 4 quarts capacity. Personally I love running both and have had zero problems from either.

For sure worth it, It REDUCES HEATin 2 ways 1. As another user commented the more transmission fluid there is the longer it takes to heat up and 2. The material these pans are made of is often a better conductor of heat than stock not only because of materials used but also even if the oem version has similar material it’s smaller which means less material to soak up heat from the fluid (important to note overcooling in the winter does exist and can be a problem use a fluid with good cold flow properties that won’t turn super thick in the winter redline fluids and amsoil fluids are good stuff for this I hear, also make sure if you get an external trans cooler you still keep the original internal oem cooler so that the engine helps to heat up the fluid faster, and it doesn’t hurt to consider a thermostat made for trans oil.) oh and btw although stacked plate coolers are known to be great for cooling capability and having a lower pressure drop than tube and fin style coolers they also can impede flow more than tube and fin and can be ridiculously expensive, consider a tube and fin that has copper tubes aka copper core and aluminum fins they actually stand up pretty well to an all aluminum stacked plate cooler and are cheaper without potentially restricting oil flow, the only downside is the slightly higher pressure drop. it also as stated in this video strengthens the transmission and acts as a brace almost like how sheathing braces the framing on a house. Additionally the extra fluid capacity means your fluid will last longer before needing changed and this is especially true with good fluids like redline or amsoil or even royal purple etc.
$300.00 bucks is better spent on PPE's Trans cooler. I got a 31 degree reduction in trans temp in 100 degree weather pulling 9k LBS of travel trailer. Skip the pan and get the cooler, money well spent!

Yeah a lot of people don’t even know to change transmission fluid I’ve heard countless times “don’t change it unless there’s a problem” but people don’t realize what’s actually going on down there and why when they have problems and go to change it it completely stops working
I have both oil and trans pans from ppe, of course from your recommendation on a previous video. Paid 299 for the trans pan and 279 oil pan. Gasket and filter included. I can say with the power im making it does make a huge difference being able to get more fluid on both. Yes it does look cool and all that but it makes sense to have the extra fluid. But watch with having a lift on your truck, i had to remove my front crossmember to do the oil pan. Trans went easy. Great addition to any truck. Sorry for the long comment. Oh and amazon is where i got mine, seller was a diesel seller ill have to check who. Little cheaper. Lol
I like the idea of an aftermarket pan that holds more fluid and has a better cooling fin design. I see the advantage and I have purchased the PPE oil pan already for my LLY due to its poor stock design, and plan on buying a larger aftermarket trans pan also. Swapping a transmission pan because it looks cool, unless your truck is lifted to the moon, doesn't make much sense to me. Only the driver would know he/she would know they have a sexy transmission pan under there.
I had a 2011 Suburban I did a B&M pan on, solely because the factory pan didn't have a drain plug. Unacceptable, being able to easily change fluids is a necessity for me.
That with the bigger cooler is well worth it lower temps towing for sure. And 100/110deg maybe ! Without pulling the trlr I also got the oil pan so all the oil is removed
Yea, if I am not mistaken the PPE carries an extra (4) quarts of tranny fluid. Any capacity enlargement(if that's a word) means more fluid to carry heat away---the biggest killer of autos. I also went with PPE on my lly duramax. I think it's the best choice because it has a built in filter lock and includes a new deep filter. I agree that my transmission takes longer to come up to temperature and runs cooler. I also used castrol transynd fluid which is expensive but you will save the money back because of the drastically longer service life.

Another thing - I really surprised that PPE didn’t decide to manufacture and distribute a shallow version of the deep PPE Allison Spin-On Filter - considering there are zillions of Silverados out there that see severe duty that aren't lifted this would be a no-brainer. Also, lately there are a LOT of great reviews on the Mobil 1 Delvac ATF which meets TES-295 specifications, is recommended by Allison and is extremely cost effective compared to other fluids that people use.

I heard that the gmc denali 1500 Have magnetic shock what do you think which brand you think would be good for my truck??
Yep, I did a factory Allison deep pan in mine, along with a filter lock, deep filter, and Mobil Delvac 1 ATF, altogether I think I spent less than just the cost of that fancy pan alone.
Just picked up your channel today and watched a few videos. In the last week I started looking for 2500 chevys. I can’t believe what they are asking for the diesels, in sane! I liked your tip on your preference for the 06 Duramax. What do you think of the 6.0L gas engine?
Going to get one of these, my trans was built by dimitri milliard, sometimes it got stuck in 4th gear and wouldnt work till the next day any ideas? Not a big problem as it’s only happened 3 times and now I need a new motor but still. Any ideas would be great thanks
Question, if I need to rebuild the turbo, would doing a drop in internal assembly while rebuilding it be worth it vs just rebuilding the turbo and keeping it stock? Drop in would be from KC turbos
I have a question if I have a PPE motor deep oil pan and I want to run the PPE high efficiency oil filter do I still run 11 quarts or do I have to add another quart too make it 12 quarts?
I installed the PPE trans pan on my 2006 lbz duramax. My question is…. Does the dip stick need to be changed to get a proper reading on fluid level? I have put 11.5 quarts in so far, ran to operating temp, and am showing right between cold/hot marking. Thanks!
The stock dip stick is all you need. If you got a longer dipstick(which I doubt they make) then there would be no point of this deep. The pan is for gaining fluid
hey I bought a ppe oil pan for my lly and i have a lift kit so the cross member does not unbolt like stock what would be the easiest way to install this oil pan
I’m in Michigan and getting ready to buy my first diesel truck if the price was right would you come along and check the truck out with me so I don’t over look anything?
You know that wasn't a stock transmission paint RUclips off the truck right because I got one of those on my diesel it looks just like that and that's an aftermarket and it holds more transmission fluid
Two words about PPE trans cooler. It does look like a quality cooler but - BUT!!! - why the fuck you included only six bolts instead of eight?!? It may not be a too big of a deal except that 1. I had to go to the hardware store in the middle of installation. Fortunately, I have three more vehicles, all Toyotas, so I had options others may not have. 2. If you can't count to 8, how can you be trusted with making ANYTHING? 3. If you cut corners by skipping 2 bolts, what other corners have you cut? And finally, PPE is the second most expensive cooler on the market. Not sure it was worth it - those 5 times cheaper may not be any worse...
I need your input! What is your honest opinion? Are these worth the money? Would you buy one?

Won't these pans cause trouble when it comes to excessive high speed turns? The oem design is extensively tested and a masterclass in engineering no?
You gotta get heat in your shop bro!
Just picked up your channel today and watched a few videos.
In the last week I started looking for 2500 chevys. I can’t believe what they are asking for the diesels, in sane! I liked your tip on your preference for the 06 Duramax.
What do you think of the 6.0L gas engine?
Love ur videos. Plus I want to meet u man. I be fun to hang out with. I live in Kalamazoo Michigan. Was that his new ride?
Thanks! That’s actually a truck he bought years ago.
Hey I am looking at a 2 gen is it worth it to buy one?
Going to get one of these, my trans was built by dimitri milliard, sometimes it got stuck in 4th gear and wouldnt work till the next day any ideas? Not a big problem as it’s only happened 3 times and now I need a new motor but still. Any ideas would be great thanks
Awesome vids I love the content. Are you a diesal mechanic full time?
Question, if I need to rebuild the turbo, would doing a drop in internal assembly while rebuilding it be worth it vs just rebuilding the turbo and keeping it stock? Drop in would be from KC turbos
What type of torque wrench do you guys use for the Internals, it looks automated
Snap on 3/8 inch lbs
I have a question if I have a PPE motor deep oil pan and I want to run the PPE high efficiency oil filter do I still run 11 quarts or do I have to add another quart too make it 12 quarts?
PPE pan adds an extra quart.
The PPE large oil filter adds another quart.
So using both would require 12 quarts.
@@saltysteel3996 ok thanks 👍 will be making the upgrade soon
Why didn’t you tell us the before and after temp’s on the fluid?
Are the up-pipes available in the same color as your manifolds on big Red?
Unfortunately not but that would be cool
I’ve got tha mag hi tech one is cooler looking to me and def worth it I got it on my built trans
I wonder what gale banks would do to that pan the tests he dose to see if it's really worth it
I installed the PPE trans pan on my 2006 lbz duramax.
I definitely seen that same type of oil pans along time. By power bank!!
Can you make a video on PPE oil pan upgrade on LLY? please
hey I bought a ppe oil pan for my lly and i have a lift kit so the cross member does not unbolt like stock what would be the easiest way to install this oil pan
on the real though, that camper is sick
👍
I’m in Michigan and getting ready to buy my first diesel truck if the price was right would you come along and check the truck out with me so I don’t over look anything?
How many quarts of trans oil did you’ll use in total???
Didnt show in video but did you adjust your 1-2 and 3-4 bands?
I did off camera. 2nd gear band and reverse band. 2nd gear band can be done pan on but reverse band needs pan off.
You know that wasn't a stock transmission paint RUclips off the truck right because I got one of those on my diesel it looks just like that and that's an aftermarket and it holds more transmission fluid
Yes. Thats the Deraile Pan. I was aware.
That’s the jankiest filter I’ve every seen. Looks like a slice of flattened bread!
Nice job you have good content
I really appreciate it
Awesome video!!!
Thanks
What is the difference between the pan and valve body by revmax ?
So no change of fluid in torque converter?
What is the best transmission oil change intervals?

Two words about PPE trans cooler.
It does look like a quality cooler but - BUT!!! - why the fuck you included only six bolts instead of eight?!? It may not be a too big of a deal except that
I thought 11/2 + 41/2=6 not 51/2 .
do they have that oil pan fore 1/2 ton chevy
How much lower did it drop trans temp on the lb7
Yes.

Poor guy, can't afford quality transmission fluid and expect good results from cheap fluid. You get what you pay!
Cheap fluid?!😄
8:25 Beautiful.. Can we get an encore? 🤣
👍👍
Nothing will save the transmissions in those dodges.
