Some people consider it the time after WWII which runs from mid 1940s until the 1990's, but other people would probably think it was the time of the Hippie generation which ran from 1960 - 1980, basically the reign of the Beatles. Peace, Love & Happiness. Unfortunately for them it also meant Pot, Mushrooms and LSD.

I don't think they have a bad album. check out Brazilian Rhyme too. as for the trippiness, they were one of many groups that embraced what people call afrofuturism. early Commodores stuff is comparable, and of course Parliament, Funkadelic, Undisputed Truth, Stargard, Faze-O, War, Bootsy Collins, Zapp... but if you just wanna hear some good music my recommendation is Cymande "Dove", the original version, then "Bra".

Yeah, I don't know about the US, but I can confirm that in the UK if you put this song on at a party in September or any month...people will dance.
