That odd tool is called a 8mm Triple Square in the USA. Thanks for the video.
This is a very good point Gerald - along with the names Spline and Triple Square they also go by the name of the Spline type - an 'XZN' - so several names can indeed mean the same thing :)
Great video, can't wait to see more from you on the 996!
More to come!
Thanks for the great guide. I've already done the rear seat delete before watching the video. But I didn't know the rear seat belts can be tucked in behind the trim once it's retracted. That's pretty cool. Do you have any issues of them rattling behind the trim?
I’ve had no issues with rattles mine are snug; you could wrap them in the soft side of sticky back Velcro or a bit of bubble wrap if you have any issues 👍
Have you figured out how the middle piece between the seats is removed without breaking it?
No - I’ve learned to live with it!
How much improvement for suitcase(s) and/or large duffle bags?
The seats folded forward flat is likely the most useful space. However I wasn’t aiming for more storage - Shortly afterwards I fitted a harness bar/roll bar and bucket seats so zero suitcases for me! 😁
Cool GT3 mod
easy too!
Dunno why they bothered having seats. I'm not tall and there's no space behind me for someone to sit. Should have made a cubby hole with a cover instead.
I think any human over 5 years of age is going to struggle back there!!
Just spent last night watching episode 1-14 and really enjoyed it. So, now the rear bench is out, will there be a front (bucket) seat upgrade?
Great to hear, and thank you. Yes buckets are on the list as the raised seat height is very noticeable versus the gt3.
Did this to mine before adding a bolt in rear cage. :)
Nice - which one did you go for?

Cheers to you for this wonderful guide. Referencing this to go the other way around - putting some seats back in. Hope this comment finds you well.
Thanks Adam - cheers for the note, happy you found it useful 🙂
I haven't used my imagination like this since grade school
you even get to relive your youth while modding the 996!
@@TheThrottleCable No doubt my friend, thanks for the vid
I’ve got to this video too late and also stripped the spline in the back... how did you remove it once it was stripped?
I noticed before any issue fortunately - in your shoes I would get a bolt extractor tool to avoid any more issue!
How much weight did you drop? Thanks for the video and channel!
Taking out the rear seats saved 12.9kg 👍
Excellent video just dumped back seats too -looks way better. Thanks 👍
Cheers Andrew. Glad it was helpful!
Nice....
Thank you 😊
Improve sound from exhaust?
No - the seats are only thin; there is some major sound deadening under the carpets and behind the rear cards. I guess that would have to go to make a difference in cabin noise.
