The point is the difference between driving blazed and driving with it in your system. I always have it in my system and would test positive for cannabis even when not effected by it. I haven’t had a accident on the road for well over 20 years. Cannabis is unfairly marginalised, the anti anxiety and depression medications that get prescribed like tic tacs are far worse
Thankyou David for your advocacy on this very important issue. My prescription has been life changing. Having tried prescription opiates which certainly were affecting my driving abilities . Now i have no alternative but to break the law. Not a good way to live, constantly scared. Thanks again.
Random Tests should be banned! When you consider the cost of them, the fact they take police away from more important things, the hassle it causes in traffic when they set up is dangerous and time consuming, and it ensures those using without impairment get caught. The law is criminal!
@ cops aren’t paid by the fines, well not in Victoria, it goes to some trust - no doubt the corporate partners skim a load off - and it’s meant to be put into road infrastructure and stuff. Judging by the pot holes, doesn’t look like a lot gets back to the roads here!
Lost my licence twice now , absolutely devastating as this medication lets me actually function in society. I was taking handfuls of pills and just getting stronger till I was a zombie good for nothing
Exactly right. The cops should have due reason to even approach you.. Both times I got done recently I was doing nothing out of the ordinary .. actually, the 2nd time I got done I was pumping petrol into my car at a service station. Not fair! Aholes!
I must say the laws are just insane I closed my transport business in Oct 2021 due to the fact that there is no set limit for driving and I couldnt take the chance anymore of maybe being pulled up and tested put off the road let my customers down loose my income and be tagged a criminal and no doubt get my rego flagged and anyone who might be driving one of my vans being pulled up and tested because of something that happened with another driver totally unjust laws yet we accept people driving around at .05 and some people are just totally wasted at that level but its not a crime its all about prohibition nothing else then I wake up this morning to findout the state govt can change the law on tabacco sales overnight what a joke this country has become and now just about every employer wants to drug test you before getting employed change the laws youve have shown us you can do it overnight because you are down on your tax take nothing to do with health thats for sure
I was profiled by the hospital system, they found my medication and ‘assumed’ cannabis psychosis, after a car accident and the hardest nights of my life. The bigotry is real, I want my day in court.
I'm so confused. Does that mean you can still get convicted and fined if unimpaired, but just keep licence? Or can the judge let you off with no consequences at all?
Truck drivers need to stop delivering food to these truck banning communities, stop doing deliveries to the hospital, refuse to do rubbish collections, cancel all construction leave them to sort out their own shit.
My.uncle was killed.in Geelong back in 1988 by a drunk off his face off duty police officer at 4 in the morning sitting at a red light the drunk driver drove up his ass so fast caused his car to catch fire and him in it so there's that 0.5 is ok aparantly.
Why a 24-hour ban on trucks? These are people's careers and livelihoods you're affecting, and also, this is how all your produce and products are delivered so you're shooting yourself in the foot with this ban... are you people that selfish and stupid???
Perhaps live in a suburban street which heavy trucks constantly use. The noise and physical vibrations will send you up the wall in no time. They are simply advocating to recognise this issue. It's called a democracy.
Patients can take up to 100 mills or more of Methodone with a few Valiums walk out the Chemist jump in the car & drive away without any concerns of being pulled over by Cops .
You are correct. The difference is that if they have an accident and it's found to be a result of their medication intoxication, they'll be held to a higher punishment. The other thing is that most methadone users who are stable do not actually experience drowsiness or euphoria. It just maintains the physical withdrawals
So multiple drug tests means multiple court appearances for non impaired medicinal cannabis users like myself or do police just let you go if your non impaired and have a prescription. I still cant get my head around it?
and when the Swab test is that bad austraila is one of 2 other countrys that still use's that brand test now NSW need to get off there arse and follow sute 6 month ban what a joke show vic is a nanny state
Road trauma is over represented by users of drugs, legal and illicit, hence the laws are for detection in your system. Our road toll is increasing, interestingly so is prescription for cannabis. I am not aware of any study into this but surely one should be done before changes put other drivers at risk.
The road toll increases every year... because there are more drivers, vehicles etc every year. Using the road toll to justify draconian punishment is a sick joke and misrepresentation of the facts.
Drugs being the sole reason for any number of road fatalities compared to speeding or even lack of attention is almost non existent I guarantee more people have accidents sober than drunk statisticly because less people drink drive but still have accidents? How can you explain that? It's very simple more people = more chance of human error THATS IT!
I live in Queensland do not legalise dope in any way for driving. If you seen how people drive up here there will just be more carnage. It's actually scary watching people drive on the roads. They don't concentrate now, so how in the fuck with dope in there system will they concentrate. They will just think it's a joke. I hope sanity prevails.
Hmm get your facts straight mate!! Cannabis should be legal period i live in fnq and have smoked all my life and so does the majority of people I know. People need to be educated better alcohol and opiates are a problem not weed.
The worst part here is that if it came to a debate, all major outlets and politicians would be using comments like these as a "well here's our side of the argument, this one comment represents how loads of folks feel, trust us" but not showing the responses fact checking them from literally everyone else watching. Then when it gets put out as "news" people like this eat it up, get on a high horse, start regurgitating more bullshit arguments already proven wrong about why weeds bad and then they disappear rather than take the chance to educate themselves when the staggering majority says they're wrong. Considering the general idea that pots meant to make you slow, dopey and gullible aswell as the fact that most people who dont smoke dont actually fact check what they've been told by a TV, it seems kinda fuckin rich being told we have a problem by people who can't differentiate between opinion and fact. And all due respect homie, I hope this makes you feel stupid, not in a negative way you should feel bad about but in a way that makes you do your own homework before trying to tell people what's right and wrong.
@davidhounslow7845 also last point, granted you see people smoke in the area you live, does that mean everyone causing havoc on the roads is stoned and how do you confirm each individual you have a problem with on the road is a stoner?

They know that but it's better to just keep criminalising people on them. Makes more money through systemic bureaucracy that way.
Thankyou David for your advocacy on this very important issue. My prescription has been life changing. Having tried prescription opiates which certainly were affecting my driving abilities . Now i have no alternative but to break the law. Not a good way to live, constantly scared. Thanks again.
Meanwhile there's people driving around on Stilnox and nothing happens to them.
Thank you for pushing this amendment.
Random Tests should be banned! When you consider the cost of them, the fact they take police away from more important things, the hassle it causes in traffic when they set up is dangerous and time consuming, and it ensures those using without impairment get caught. The law is criminal!
its all about them coins...if the cops are paid from are taxes then were does the money they make from fines go

@@thenewvoice8 thats what council rates are for fixing holes?
@@hx4791you appreciate they can be funded by more than one mechanism?
@@hx4791Depends on the road in question.

Shouldn't be stopped without cause. If you're safe and competent, no problem.
Exactly right. The cops should have due reason to even approach you..

❤❤Best thing in my lifetime here over the ditch❤❤
RBT's are "guilty until proven innocent " which goes against Australian law.
I was profiled by the hospital system, they found my medication and ‘assumed’ cannabis psychosis, after a car accident and the hardest nights of my life.
The bigotry is real, I want my day in court.
Test the parliament
At random . Every day .
They driving the country into the ground, test the impaired.
Thank you for your support mate🤗
Finally some type of common sense
Thank you
Compensation for cannabis users
I'm so confused. Does that mean you can still get convicted and fined if unimpaired, but just keep licence? Or can the judge let you off with no consequences at all?
Same here, so you can still be fined and they can still cancel your license based on their own opinion?
It is still confusing and they can still take money from you for not even being under the influence? Why am I not surprised? Turkeys as usual.
Truck drivers need to stop delivering food to these truck banning communities, stop doing deliveries to the hospital, refuse to do rubbish collections, cancel all construction leave them to sort out their own shit.
i should not even go to court if your not impared then its no prob
Amazing
Judges shouldn't have discretion, they should apply the law equally to everyone.
The law needs to change to stop the persecution.
I propose a driving test where they make you smoke double your dose. If you pass. You allowed to drive
My.uncle was killed.in Geelong back in 1988 by a drunk off his face off duty police officer at 4 in the morning sitting at a red light the drunk driver drove up his ass so fast caused his car to catch fire and him in it so there's that 0.5 is ok aparantly.
and to think the cop that Swabs you has Descression but they dont use it
what a load of shit how long do the tests for it's testing if it's in your system not imparied
Who are the flogs talking over the top of this bloke. Should be docked the days pay
What a joke governor
It's contradictory to say the very least.

If you have THC in your system it shouldn't matter if it's medicinal or not. Doctors hand out prescriptions to drug addicts, to flout the law.
I'm prescribed marijuana and am never inebriated! 100% safe to drive...
Are you taking CBD marijane
Yep politicians need to grow up.😢there is nothing worse than being discriminated against by them😢

Being a little stoned might make them a little more paranoid about getting caught and result in safer less risky driving
