The Stones started off doing the same and weren't getting any where so their manager made a decision for them to lose the suits and the Beatles looked like the nice boys making the Stones look like the not so nice guys and the rest is history!
Although I like the Beatles, it's no contest. Stones have been pumping out tunes for close to 60 (58) years. Ringo joined the Beatles in 1962 and they broke up in 1970. Give me a good old Stones song any time.
Satisfaction is their most well know song and one of the best riffs ever. The story goes that the riff actually came to guitarist Keith Richards in a dream.
There are LOTS of great songs by The Rolling Stones. Gimme Shelter, Jumping Jack Flash, Sympathy for The Devil, Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Wating on A Friend, Beast of Burden, You Can't Always Get What Want, and It's Only Rock & Roll.
I am largely a fan of the stones, so much so that I have the title of this song tattooed on my person. Some personal reasoning behind it but mostly just cos I love this song. Was wondering when you'd get round to this song brother, you rock! 😎 Keep on rocking in the free world 😉🤟
I used to think I was a huge Rolling Stones fan but I recently listened to all their albums in order and I discovered I'm a huge fan of the commercial Rolling Stones. I love all their singles and all those songs you know but listening to everything I found out they are really a jam band. Most of their songs don't much structure and go off in weird tangents. I also found out that one of my favorites songs, Honky Tonk Woman, is not even on an album. It was released as a single only. There is a song called Country Honk that is similar but not the same. Favorite Stones song by far is Sympathy For the Devil. You should give that a listen I think you'll really like it.
This is probably my favourite Stones song (I only know about 5 lol)). This song got embedded in my brain from the game Mafia 3. Their most famous song is probably (I can't get no) Satisfaction, that's the song I always thought of when they were mentioned, but now it's this song
The Beatles, or Rolling Stones. There is a place in my heart for Both. As there is for Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. Because it's a Buffet of music. The hundreds of groups, and tunes spanning the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. Belongs to everyone enjoy timeless music tracks. Enjoy it all. Life is too short to be narrow minded. Don't forget the One hit wonders. Bubble Gum, Psychedelic, Blues, Soul, Motown, Southern Rock, Story Tellers, Progressive, Brtish Invasion. American Groups, Doo Wop, Disco, Female groups. Seeing it all when they were new songs. Going to many concerts wishing I would of seen so many others. Loved it all...
Painted black is a very versatile song with multiple interpretations, how i see it is that its the perspective of an insane man being tempted with provocative things, the red door symbolizes a gentlemens club, he wants destroyed or for him not to see it, therefore the lyric "I see a red door, and i wanted painted black.
Hi! Here are bands that you have *never reacted to* but should have _in my opinion_ (in alphabetical order): • -Alice Cooper- (done) • Amaranthe • Beast in Black • Blackbriar • Delain • Equilibrium • Exit Eden • Gloryhammer • Hammerfall • Heidevolk • Korpiklaani • Lordi • -Lord of the Lost- (done) • Manowar • -Nirvana- (done) • Sirenia • -Skillet- (done) • Sonata Arctica • Turisas • Týr • Van Canto • -Within Temptation- (done) • Xandria
Two smacks today, Alex? TWO?! Boi needs to take it easy on himself. This song was on Guitar Hero 3, which you mentioned, but it was also on Twisted Metal: Black (go figure). Twisted Metal introduced me to it, Guitar Hero made me fall in love with it. This song is very iconic, and I do feel like The Stones did have a darker (at times) tone. I mean this song, Sympathy (for the devil), that's dark shit. Your comment about Sarah is great. Appreciate her efforts even when they result in failure. There's a country song that tells that very scenario. NO, this is not a channel request, but I would like for you to hear "The Good Stuff" by Kenny Chesney, just sometime when you have a chance. It's song about love and connection. #WhatTheDick
Apparently the song is also associated with the war in Vietnam, this could be attributed to it's use in the credits of Kubrick's 1987 classic Full Metal Jacket, and the tv series Tour of Duty which aired from 1987-1990, perhaps as a result of the lyrics, public sentiment about the war had already soured by 1966 due to the seemingly endless conflict, by the start of the next decade much of the population believed that going to war in Vietnam had been a mistake on the part of the US government, due to the sheer magnitude of lives consumed and discarded by the war effort, death was an ever present thought in the minds of not just civilians but of the soldiers. From the first verse of the song, which opens at a funeral we are confronted with the concept of death, and the grief that follows in it's wake, these days most people wouldn't see funerals as a daily occurrence, but in a song like 'Paint It Black,' death is as much a part of life as new life, as Jagger sings "It just happens everyday," from the first line we're captivated as our storyteller talks of seeing a hearse and the other cars in the procession, carrying flowers and the love of the narrator's life to the graveyard, as burial swiftly approaches, now if we are to tie it to the conflict that had been occurring at the time we must first ask, who is telling the story? Since on the surface Paint it Black is the struggle against depression by a man who's just lost his girlfriend, as the song tells us he wants the whole world to be painted in darkness, hence 'Paint it Black,' this desire peaks in the outro with the narrator going into a speil about how he wants the 'Sun blotted out of the sky," like the darkness of an apocalypse of a biblical origin, this isn't just your average person's grief, this transcends it, whilst the speaker could be a just a civilian teen trying to get over the loss of his love, in a literal sense, there is obviously a way to interpret more into it, the speaker could be a young soldier wounded in battle, having returned home after fighting in the war having seen people dying all around him his whole time overseas, someone who'd just witnessed that much death and destruction isn't going to take yet another loss and be able to continue teetering over the edge of a deep-, dark, pit or abyss, the way it's presented in the song the hearse is literally taking the body of his lover to it's final resting place, but symbolically it represents his ability to feel anything, to love and be loved away from him altogether. Love is associated with the heart, and in that context that represents a part of the soul, (something I've never truly believed in,) with the loss of a part of your soul you become less human, you lose touch of what is real, much like a soldier suffering through PTSD, a common mental disorder suffered by survivors of the conflict, war vets becoming psychologically damaged by their experiences sometimes past the point of recovery if they made it back home from the war, a young war vet would no longer find enjoyment in even the smallest of things that used to bring him joy back home, like seeing women his age dressed in their summer clothes, having just recently lost his lover he turns away, overwhelmed by the 'darkness,' instead of talking to them for any reason be it simply to have someone to talk to, or someone to flirt with, the speaker goes out of his way to not talk to people about his problems, but even if he did as a veteran he wouldn't be welcomed with a smile by most people in this period of time, because the public chose to spit on, yell at, and alienate soldiers, treating them with the utmost disdain for a war that they weren't responsible for, the speaker also talks about this in the song mentioning how people would coldly turn and look away from him, instead of acknowledge his existence, adding to the growing feelings of isolation as he retreats into his mind, paranoia taking the place of trust, Jagger once talked about how drugs were a part of understanding the meaning of Paint It Black. Like many veterans returning home after their time in the war the speaker sought to conquer the darkness in his heart, with no one to talk to, he turned to drugs to ease the pain and find even the most shallow sense of love or happiness, the discontent of people at the time drove many to escape it with the use of psychedelic drugs. Now, the war in Vietnam wasn't the only source of political upheaval at the time, for example the Civil Rights movement was also in the public eye, now for some Americans these two sources of upheaval were connected in the middle, in fact on the earliest printing of the single "Paint It Black," it was transcribed as "Paint it, Black," which reads as a racially charged message to a whole group of Americans, this mistake was later rectified in subsequent printings but the error had already added a new meaning to a song rife with social and political meaning.

Hey Hef - Some of my favorite Stones songs: Sympathy for the Devil You Can't Always Get What You Want Shattered Satisfaction Beast of Burden And for something totally different : Far Away Eyes
The Stones have a huge catalog. Assume you heard Give Me Shelter. You might try Mothers Little Helper, 2000 Light Years From Home, or Can You Hear Me Knockin.
Alright, I'm going to start giving a brief description of these song recommendations. Maybe they'll peak your interest that way. Band-Maid - Blooming You've heard them before. All-female Japanese metal band in maid outfits. From their latest album. Richie Kotzen - Fooled Again OR Bad Situation (Both live in Tokyo) Blues rock with fantastic guitar work. Voice sounds like Cornell from Soundgarden. Both of these live versions really show off his skills. The Winery Dogs - Hot Streak OR Elevate Rock supergroup with Kotzen (above) on guitar and vocals. Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater on drums. Billy Sheehan from Mr. Big on bass. Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here Progressive rock band that is kind of like Pink Floyd meets Tool with a touch of Beatles psychedelic. This song was my introduction to them. 12 minutes with an incredible build. Stick with it. Steven Wilson - Refuge (Studio OR Home Invasion Live) Pink Floydish tune by the singer/guitarist of Porcupine Tree (above). Studio version has a killer harmonica solo. Live has better vocals and guitar solos, but no harmonica. Your pick. The Pineapple Thief - Alone at Sea (Live from Where We Stood) Modern progressive rock band often compared to Porcupine Tree. This live version has better guitar work than the studio version. Flying Colors - The Loss Inside Progressive rock band with Steve Morse killing it on guitar. Definitely more of a 70s feel than the two bands above. Portnoy from Dream Theater on drums. Just a solid rock song. Rishloo - Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun Another progrock band more along the lines of Porcupine Tree and Pineapple Thief. Really great vocals and song changes. Alice in Chains - Them Bones You've heard AIC before. This one should not be missed. Solid crunching metal. Ling tosite Sigure - Enigmatic Feeling Japanese math rock/post-hardcore band. Falsetto vocals and odd time signatures. OP song to the anime Psycho-Pass 2. Make sure you get the full version. TK from Ling tosite Sigure - Unravel Singer/guitarist from Ling tosite Sigure. One of the most popular anime OP songs from Tokyo Ghoul. Make sure you get the full version. Sokoninaru - re:program Another Japanese math rock/post-hardcore band. Similar in style to Ling tosite Sigure. More trade-offs between singers. A lot more guitar tapping. Haken - Cockroach King More prog-rock goodness. Both the song and video are deliciously bizarre with a kind of dark "Bohemian Rhapsody" flair.

Although I like the Beatles, it's no contest. Stones have been pumping out tunes for close to 60 (58) years. Ringo joined the Beatles in 1962 and they broke up in 1970. Give me a good old Stones song any time.
Favorite band of all time listen to the song sympathy for the devil next it's amazing like every thing they do
Satisfaction is their most well know song and one of the best riffs ever.
Can't hear this without fondly remembering tuning into "Tour of Duty" every week back in high school.
Mother’s Little Helper
Miss You live
Doom and Gloom
Rock and a Hard Place
Rolling Stones is ROCK N ROLL you must listen to more 💯🔥🔥
This is probably my favourite Stones song (I only know about 5 lol)). This song got embedded in my brain from the game Mafia 3. Their most famous song is probably (I can't get no) Satisfaction, that's the song I always thought of when they were mentioned, but now it's this song
Check out classic Stones jam - can’t you hear me knocking - with Mick Taylor on last lead guitar
Loved it all...
tHiS wAs On GuItAr HeRo
Hahahaha dude 😂
I honestly didn’t know The Rolling Stones dang that song it’s an such an iconic song
First time I heard this song was back when I played Twisted Metal: Black

You should check out "you dont move me anymore" by Keith Richards(guitarist of rolling stones)
The Rolling Stones are a truly revolutionary band for their time. Please react to Sympathy for the Devil^
Seeing it live was a thing to behold. Check out the rolling stones voodoo lounge.
Try "Gimme Shelter" if you want dark lyrics.
"Rape, murder/It's just a shot away."
Great first stones song lol I love paint it black
My favorite Stones song 🖤
Every time I hear this song, I want to see "tour of duty".

Hey Hef - Some of my favorite Stones songs:
Sympathy for the Devil
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Shattered
Satisfaction
Beast of Burden
And for something totally different :
Far Away Eyes
Such a cool classic song
you should check out parkway drive - wild eyes (Live at wacken) the crowd is epic and just the way the artist communicates with the crowd :D
Bones - HDMI
Blue Stahli - Ultranumb
Clutch - Electric Worry
Sepultura - Altered State
The Stones have a huge catalog. Assume you heard Give Me Shelter. You might try Mothers Little Helper, 2000 Light Years From Home, or Can You Hear Me Knockin.
Such a classic. I also LOOOOOOVE Sympathy for the Devil!!! BTW, who else LOVED Ramin Djawadi's arrangement of Paint it Black for Westworld? Anyone?
Alright, I'm going to start giving a brief description of these song recommendations. Maybe they'll peak your interest that way.
Band-Maid - Blooming
You've heard them before. All-female Japanese metal band in maid outfits. From their latest album.
Richie Kotzen - Fooled Again OR Bad Situation (Both live in Tokyo)
Blues rock with fantastic guitar work. Voice sounds like Cornell from Soundgarden. Both of these live versions really show off his skills.
The Winery Dogs - Hot Streak OR Elevate
Rock supergroup with Kotzen (above) on guitar and vocals. Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater on drums. Billy Sheehan from Mr. Big on bass.
Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
Progressive rock band that is kind of like Pink Floyd meets Tool with a touch of Beatles psychedelic. This song was my introduction to them. 12 minutes with an incredible build. Stick with it.
Steven Wilson - Refuge (Studio OR Home Invasion Live)
Pink Floydish tune by the singer/guitarist of Porcupine Tree (above). Studio version has a killer harmonica solo. Live has better vocals and guitar solos, but no harmonica. Your pick.
The Pineapple Thief - Alone at Sea (Live from Where We Stood)
Modern progressive rock band often compared to Porcupine Tree. This live version has better guitar work than the studio version.
Flying Colors - The Loss Inside
Progressive rock band with Steve Morse killing it on guitar. Definitely more of a 70s feel than the two bands above. Portnoy from Dream Theater on drums. Just a solid rock song.
Rishloo - Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun
Another progrock band more along the lines of Porcupine Tree and Pineapple Thief. Really great vocals and song changes.
Alice in Chains - Them Bones
You've heard AIC before. This one should not be missed. Solid crunching metal.
Ling tosite Sigure - Enigmatic Feeling
Japanese math rock/post-hardcore band. Falsetto vocals and odd time signatures. OP song to the anime Psycho-Pass 2. Make sure you get the full version.
TK from Ling tosite Sigure - Unravel
Singer/guitarist from Ling tosite Sigure. One of the most popular anime OP songs from Tokyo Ghoul. Make sure you get the full version.
Sokoninaru - re:program
Another Japanese math rock/post-hardcore band. Similar in style to Ling tosite Sigure. More trade-offs between singers. A lot more guitar tapping.
Haken - Cockroach King
More prog-rock goodness. Both the song and video are deliciously bizarre with a kind of dark "Bohemian Rhapsody" flair.
up!
