    Lots of therapists aren't actually equipped to deal with BPD. It's a complex set of symptoms to treat

      Agree. From my own experience, once the nine criteria are arranged according to the severity in the moment just working on the worst criteria always produces relief.

      Hi there and thanks for the comment and your presence here. I think when Gunderson says "you have to combine kicks with your kisses" he means as a therapist sometimes you have to challenge the client, or say things the patient doesn't necessarily want to hear, in order to be effective. The point of therapy is to help the client achieve their goals, not satisfy your (the therapist's) need to "be a helper to the helpless." Thanks again-- and good luck with your counseling!

      @@BorderlinerNotes Thank you for your reply... Still getting to grips with my diagnosis and the treatment options out there... DBT skills training is hard to come by in the county I'm in... Anyway thanks again

      Thanks for reacting to my comment. Gundersen's work is crucial to my Build A Better Group Home project and the video is an encouragement to me!

    Definitely not the one my ex is going to. She’s gotten worse not better with accountability of poor behaviors. Too enabling in my opinion or my ex’s narcissistic defense mechanisms will rear it’s ugly head.

    lol currently seeing a BPD client...while noticing that I'm pretty much the opposite person of what Dr Gunderson described in the video...it will be fun 🤣

      Try. I had a great therapist that did it just like this guy. My BPD symptoms have been reduced to being undetectable by most.

      @@GwenISayJump well we ended up having a good run i think or at least based on my client's feedback..i just left my job last month
