Dude… listening to this because of our loss. He was a great dude, honest, and cared for others. He talks about his enjoyment of snowmobiles around 2:30, he went doing what he loved. Bummed he couldn’t be around longer but def a life well lived.
been putting it off and waiting to watch this episode and decided today was the day it was great to hear all the stories this is a treasure that will live on for all of us in the community to enjoy rip
I like how Ken slowed down the conversation a couple times and was like lets go back to that. The longer, slow burn episodes, especially when its an OG are rad. All the little anecdotes and side stories make it dope, moving to fast through a life story can make you feel like your just getting the cliff notes. I get it, ovi hyped to get to the topics/keep the vybe up/people got places to go. Grendys right about the DC poster ads, all the homies had those on the bedroom wall. Not trying to hate at all, basically don’t worry about them being too long I don’t think anyones bored in the slightest! One of the best ones yet you guys are killin it
Wow. What a totally different type of interview. I've been looking for something exactly like this to hear about behind the scenes. Brilliant businessman, motorsports ambassador and human being. So gutted he's gone.
I listened to this twice. It reminded me of watching The Defiant Ones on HBO. If you listen carefully, this is a masters of business and marketing class all wrapped up in 3 hours. Nice work dudes, and thank you Ken for sharing your story.
I'm here after watching Scotto on the Ellis show and Smoking Tire. Scotto mentioned this podcast. This was great for those of us who only knew his Hoonigan history. I didn't even know the man yet I miss him.
MY DAMN HERO RIGHT THERE, I'm dumping every penny i have into a rally build right now, because guys like Ken Block and Travis Pastrana have been such major influences throughout my life. As I was nearing 27 I felt I was late to get into racing, since a lot of champions start out as kids. I had drifted and run canyons but nothing big. Had a bit of a breakdown and midlife crises being a disabled veteran and thinking my dreams had passed me. BUT guys like Ken Block didn't start until about this age, and they are truly amazing. So, here I go, my accounts zeroed out every month but I WILL be racing by SOFR.
@@dagdaiontach727 Keep pushing forward brother. 5 years ago I was walking with a cane, bed ridden many days, and seeing a therapist a few times a weed. I still hurt many days now, but im on my feet. Some days hurt and I would rather stay in bed, but as we push through the pain and improve our lives, we can use our journey to help others. I've been in the darkest of dark, alone, with thoughts no one should have, which allows me to grab any brother in that dark place, have their 6 and help them push forward.
I comeback to this episode as it was the last honest documented media of ken blocks life. This episode should be more shared in the general public as i know for a fact alot of his fans dont know about this and it be a good closure for them to hear. Knowing he was very passionate about everything in his life and he died doing something he was passionate about. Everything he enjoyed, his family enjoyed aswell. Rest in piece.
Great interview of Ken, love his character, his personality, he’s very inspiring and he will still inspire me, even though he is not here anymore. Big respect for him. Rip Ken 🙌
Such a epic visionary and a huge factor on my grom years. Mom did all she could to get me some DC's to thrash in my childhood and I love her for that. I remember ripping gymkhana 1 & 2 off youtube to watch on road trips on my laptop. RIP Ken and my condolonces to his wife and daughter during these tough times. Ken thanks for inspiring generations of shredders!
Loved this one guys! Got me through the drive from Killington VT back to CT after a long day of shreddin. I usually wana pass out but this one kept me goin 🏂🤘
I remember when I first seen a pair of DC shoes in the 90’s and I have had a pair in my closet ever since. Rest easy Ken and keep the pedal to the clouds.
Yo thank you for this episode, I am so happy this was the catalyst for me finding this podcast & getting its vibe from the go. Double thank you for going into the music & showing appreciation for when it works well working with small artists. I built out a 8 track album to send in to hoonigan when they started putting an email to send music into in their descriptions, but when I got to when it was time to send it in I got into a weird perfectionist & self doubting slump. There is a need for artists who do stuff different, I’m going to retake this on
Great episode guys. I’m doing this right and started with episode one and I’m working my way through. You dudes are masters of “contenting”. Would love to see a follow up with Ken. So curious to hear all about the forming of the DC team and everything that went into the first run of their snowboards.
Thank for having Ken in! lots of knowledge and amazing stories! keep up with the real ones! this is history! bighug and always respect skateboarding and shredding for ever!
It would be rad if you got Dave England from Jackass on the show. I know he used to be a pro snowboarder but I’ve never really heard him talk about it before.
1.07 music: Soooo true. Early 90ies me and the crew found out what was cool punkmusic through the snowboard and skatemovies of that era over here in Sweden. And we all rode boards and above all started copycat bands of some became big especially Millencolin.
So great to hear from such an inspiration. You guys really get the best from your guests - have learned a lot about just listening. Fan of DC since the OG days, amazing story, truly “agents of change”. (Great book btw i bought a copy ken ha ha)
I have older salomon districts not sure what year but they are the maroon ones... that flexy heelcup is amazing best binding i've ridden.... my NOW ipo bindings are legit too.. saved my feet from being broken a couple times landing flat on some serious air
HHIC! Something like this should be the Hoonigan channel... Like an extended version of "Beer with" But so glad RUclips recommend it.. &You've gained another sub!
Damn dudes, took me 2 days to finish only to hear " we didn't even talk about devun walsh". Get ken back on and lets hear some Devun "the boss" walsh stories. He could crush it even hungover as all hell. Great job guys.
Wow this was really good stuff.. had no idea KB was involved with all those companies we used to look up to skating in the early to late 90's.. I rocked the droors and menace shit... shortys and airwalks... tiny ass low profile wheels from riding massive wheels... clear griptape and all.. Love this trip back in time...Good shit fellas you got a new sub from me!!!
I have a droors athletics poster on my wall right now. Along with a dub poster and a bunch of dc posters. I remember writing a letter to circus distribution back in 98.
This is such an amazing story! Wow! I said it so many times during last couple of days but Ken was just on another level. I had so much fun listening to all those stories, his attention to details... exceptional human! You will be missed, Ken! But we will never forget ❤ #KB43ver
Wait what! he wanted to talk about Devun Walsh in the end but nothing came out of it. Devun is THE ICONIC CANADIAN PRO and stepped away from fourstar to go wiht DC. I want to hear Devun on this show and I want to hear Ken about Devun. This episode needs a sequel.
geoff rowley got vans to go back to a vulcanized sole instead of trying to make tech shoes. once they revamped their line to go back to their roots of a vulc sole.
The Love Park thing.unless you're from Philly its tough to understand the politics there and their mentality..Love sits in a business district in center city near city hall hence has a crap ton of professionals that ear lunch there and tourists etc the city probably didn't want lawsuits on their hands for any chance incidents between skaters and pedestrians etc they probably argued FDR is down the road just skate there
Thank you for documenting this man's life. I think many will come here for help with closure.
Facts
So grateful you guys got Ken on while you had the chance. Amazing how quickly things can change in life…
This pod is honestly priceless RIP Ken 😞

I fully agree, Enjoyed this one being a little more thorough! 🤘
Definitely appreciative of it now
Droors and dub had best ads and were so stylish i was 14 year old kid back than in love with the culture of snowboarding and skateboarding.

boom! glad you enjoyed!
Ken’s documentary someday should be a 5 episode mini series, produced by Scotto and Dyrdek
I'm here after watching Scotto on the Ellis show and Smoking Tire. Scotto mentioned this podcast. This was great for those of us who only knew his Hoonigan history. I didn't even know the man yet I miss him.

Love the fact that Ken will make financial decisions for the sake of style, instead of nixing style for the sake of finances. Miss the Mountain Lab!
Oh wow. Just found this! RIP Ken Block. Thanks for yet another important document and education fellas. Solid as usual.
2:27:41-2:39:09 broke my heart a little bit. Definitely too soon for me to hear him talk about all that

Awesome interview with KB. It's crazy to think all of the things he's seen and done.
unreal what he has accomplished for sure!
It would be rad if you got Dave England from Jackass on the show. I know he used to be a pro snowboarder but I’ve never really heard him talk about it before.
great suggestion!
Back in early 90s in western Canada, Boozy the Clown and Whisky vids were the shit. That was best sitdown with Ken ever, dudes done it all.
yes he has!
