A great L.A. Punk band that was seen in the documentary The Decline Of Western Civilization Part 1 and in the documentary The Mayor Of The Sunset Strip.

I had a book about albums you need to listen to. The debut from X was on the list so I bought it, late 80s. Loved it. I was familar with their hits through punk compilations so I knew what I was getting into. Still love the sound of their music, still sounds fresh to me.

X is such a great band, though I have not heard everything. These CD have great looking bonus material. Weirdly, Ain't Love Grand got a limited edition RSD release in 2023. It makes you wonder. Great collection!

Big fan of X from their debut album. I heard Soul Kitchen on late night radio and I was in. But my favorite album of theirs is 'More Fun In The New World' and the title track 'The New World.' That song was on several mixed tapes for my car back in the day. I agree after that their record output was spotty. I've seen X several times, the last few times The Blasters were the opening band. Alphabetland i've never heard of so I will check that out.

In the early days of cds 💿 Los Angeles & Wild Gift were on the same cd & The Cure also had 17 Seconds & Faith on a single cd called Happily Ever After. I love X , particularly the first 3 albums & yes half of Wild Gift are tracks they were playing at the time of Los Angeles but weren't recorded for that album. White Girl was actually a 45 between Los Angeles & Wild Gift that was included on Wild Gift. Love the documentary on X where the A&R guy at MCA proudly states he signed Point Blank over X. Oops 😬 !

yeh that part with the A&R guy is from Unheard Music. Classic stuff. He really is proud of himself.

I have the first three X albums on CD, as well as Hey, Zeus!, Live at the Whiskey... & the Beyond and Back Anthology. I thought I had More Fun in the New World, but I don't...I must have just looked at the disc a few hundred times at Rock-a-Way & Eastside Records in the 1990s.
And Steve, in going back to your celeb interview on Chance's channel, I think you should give a certain deceased NFL owner a break...it had to be hard to have one husband drown in five inches of water (leaving you the team...minus what he owed his "bookies' associates"), then have another husband go to prison for scalping Superbowl tickets...though, perhaps, if Hillcrest had let her join the club, the Rams may have never left SoCal (She did keep their offices in Century City.)

I only have Los Angeles - thought it was good, but just didn't grab me to get more of them. I do see them in the cheap CD section on occasion. But here's my question, when are you selling 45 vinyl of your theme song - it's killer - love it.

    • @STEVEHEROLD

actually that music is entitled "The Love Theme from The Alan Rosenberg Show" it's available on all K-Tel albums and cassettes...... but seriously I stole that music from an old 80s syndicated music video show I used to watch. The guy who created it reached out last year because I had posted the intro of the 80s show. He hadn't heard the music since the 80s and was shocked I posted it. After that I asked if it was cool to use it. He doesn't really own it but had no problem. So I changed the original music I created and now use that theme. I credit him at the end of the show.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow yeh dude that theme takes me right back to being teen watching music video shows on Saturday afternoon cause we didn’t have MTV and drinking a 3-liter bottle of Cherry Coke with my Frank N’ Stuff hot dogs. Not gonna lie dude it depresses me sometimes to think about.
