Mina Kimes knows football period and never appears biased toward any player or team. Mina is my favorite I love watching and listening to her all the time!
Ryan has been talking crazy and hypocritical about the Ravens and Lamar all season long. First off he didn't think Derrick Henry would help because they were already the best running team in football in the first place. Then basically said contradictory stuff about replacing three offensive linemen, even though they just gave two of them to the Jets for free. Ryan was one of the last of the just keep him in the pocket and force him to throw guys talking on tv. Funny how nobody says that all of a sudden. This season to have a passing rating above any that Peyton Manning ever had while still putting defensive ends on roller skates with his Barry Sanders feet, or stiff arming the soul out of Sam Hubbard like Derrick Henry sent Earl Thomas into the shadow realm.
I don't think anyone really thought signing Henry wouldn't help at all but Henry's success would be based on two factors. 1) Could the Ravens use a traditional I-formation runner effectively when it's not their normal formation? 2) Could the Ravens receivers and tight ends step up and make the Ravens look smart for not going out and spending FA money on outside weapons. Thankfully both things happened. Henry has improved his play from the shotgun and Monken has worked in quite a bit of pistol and I-formation to get him that downhill momentum. Also Flowers continues to impress but the big surprise is Rashod Bateman has been stepping up taking the step forward everyone was hoping to see. Bateman/Flowers/Andrews/Likely is why we didn't need to spend crazy money on weapons. Regarding the O-line, we got a little lucky with Faalele being a revelation at guard, and Rosengarten being one of the best rookie tackles in a good long while. Mekari, Stanley, and Lindenbaum were expected to be solid but really getting lucky with Rosengarten and Faalele developing fast and learning quick has also made the Derrick Henry trade look smart.
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 What would have been even smarter would be to meet the price for actually trading for him last year instead of going out against KC afraid to hand off to Gus Edwards. Derrick Henry led the league in yards after contact last year and the Ravens led the league in rb yards before contact. This year has actually been a little less than I thought. I expected Henry to run for 2,000 and be the one deciding about going for the record or getting ready for the playoffs. King Henry is a Centaur. One defensive player usually isn't nearly enough.
Same position as last year. A favorite. Jackson looking great. Defense solid. This is simply deja vue all over again. Can Jackson show up in a big game??? That's all thats left. And thats cool! Can he deliver when it counts! My caution to fans and the team is do not get caught up in this usual team of destiny, this is our year nonsense. Its bullsh/t. It dont work like tgat. So stop it!!!!!
Brandon Stephens is the weak link, but he's more protected now with better safety play from Hamilton/Washington and Nate Wiggins getting into the starting lineup. This has left Marlo cover the top threat (who is usually in the slot) while safety help can shift to Stevens side. It's not a perfect solution, but it's way better than it was.
The Ravens defense the whole season has been trash, up to the last two games. Actually, the O line is carrying the heavy load keeping the King on the field. Pittsburg just didn’t have the offensive opportunity to expose the Ravens pass defense which is horrible! Idk if the dirty birds can keep themselves on the field long enough before another team gets the opportunity to test that pass defense again. We will see soon!!
man on that first run play they showed that looked like all time all madden blocking, Everybody on the line locked someone on the defense up...looked like the only ravens not blocking were derrick henry & lamar jackson....Dang! that blocking right there matches lamar's running/scrambling highlights
Literally the defense was almost the same personal as last year besides Geno and PQ which Geno was 3rd depth Safety and PQ was the only starter but right now more of a depth LB before Roquan showed up. The only MAIN big issue with the defense was the amount of coaching staff that got hired to other teams and Orr stepping in, but the Safety area was the main reason which IDK what happened to Marcus Williams which is unfortunate for him since he is like the 4th highest paid raven on roster and hes getting cut.
1:32 I think we all know who made the call to abandon the running game in the AFC Championship game last year. The same guy that did the exact same thing four years earlier against the Titans in a home playoff game ! Back when Monkin was still coaching the Bulldogs ! So it wasn't the OC ! Not enough blame gets laid at John Harbaugh's feat for his terrible playoff, fear-based game-planning. All I can say is he better stick to a running game during these playoffs. He owes Lamar no less !
But that’s what make the ravens scary because they can abandon the run game and still win! They can come from behind! Not the run game😂they’re a running team even before Lamar got there. Thru 3quarters, Henry rushes 17times for 27 yards and Ryan Clark wants me to keep handing the ball off? All kinds of 3rd n longs , 3rd n shorts not getting made and I’m supposed to keep handing the ball off Ryan?
Lamar has best OL in the NFL. 16 straight games with more rush yards than opponents. Henry has more yards before contact than any season in his career. 1,800 yard rusher. #1 offense. Defense is stepping up.
Nowhere close to the best Oline. This is just how how good LJ is. And the D is playing better because the O stopped messing around and has unleashed LJ. All 5 losses have come when he’s had 30+ pass attempts. Not a knock on LJ, that’s a flaw on the OC deviating away from strength and calling ganes where LJs running ability isn’t utilized. It also helps keep time of possession in their favor and all this helps the defense stay off the field.
What you don’t understand is what it does to the defense when they have to account for the QB as a ball carrier each play. They literally have to take defenders and use them to address LJs running threat. Teams don’t have to do this vs a non running threat at QB like Stafford for example. Especially when BAL runs zone/read options where LJ can hand it or keep it, it causes defenders to be indecisive for a split second not knowing who’s getting the ball. This creates gigantic running creases. The difference this year and years past is that LJ FINALLY has a RB who’ll take full advantage of those opportunities. DH eats off LJ and LJ off DH. When they focus on attacking you from the run game first, it literally opens everything including the pass game. This team is almost unbeatable if they don’t forget where their strength lies.
@@haywood0457 Yes. I'm aware. I was being generic because 99% of people don't understand the effect that one position has on another. LJ is helped by DH in the passing game also. His job is easier on play action. This is where some the extra yards and efficiency is coming from (than in years past). Everybody's job is easier with more weapons, including the line. People think that LJ is just so much better this year, but some of that is DH and how defenses need to respect him as well.
Todd cost us the AFC Championship and trip to the Superbowl. When we were down he panicked. Harbs was also to blame for not correcting Todd when it was happening. And to add insult to injury, the defense figured things out and stopped the Chiefs the entire second half, and if we would have only then gone back to the run, we would have been ok.
As of 12/29 after the Bills destroyed the Jets, the mainstream is now going to be on Allen's nuts for MVP. Lamar is gonna have to pass for 8 TD, 600 passing yards, 400 rushing yards with 2 rushing TDs, a sack on defense, an INT on defense and a kick return for a TD to get MVP this year. I don't get it. Ravens had the 4th hardest schedule this season as of week 16. The Bills had the 17th or something, and Lamar is beating most QBs in all categories except total passing yards where he's like 2nd or 3, but literally everything else, he's destroying the NFL right now, as a passer. 120~ passer rating through 16 games is insane. That's Manning and Rodgers' stats.
The media doesnt want to give credit to the Black head coach for the defense. That is the difference. The defense has made it easy for the ravems to run the ball and because of this, run the clock out

@AmirKhan-yv8jm so has josh or anyone that has played up against Maholmes in the playoffs. You cant just single out Lamar
Kareem Hunt got kicked off the team midseason that year and Mahomes and the Chiefs kept rolling like it was nothing and Mahomes led the 3rd highest scoring offense of all time and got the 1 seed with a defense that gave up more points than this year's Bengals defense
Mina Kimes knows football period and never appears biased toward any player or team. Mina is my favorite I love watching and listening to her all the time!
Appreciate Mina
The most articulate and informed analysts on ESPN, perhaps all of cable TV right now. Mina Kimes and Swagu, of course.
Minaaa 💜
When they were the last ranked defense in The league.. It was never a Headline
I respect your opinion but I respectfully disagree. Their run defense is good but their secondary is suspect. Brandon Stephens is a liability.
Pees cleaned up the D.. a lot. But his new designs haven’t been fully tested. And Pees past BAL Ds have been exposed bad in playoffs

What games u watching smh
The Ravens O line sucks. What are you talking about? 😂
@big, 🤦🏻♂️ Ravens have the best Run offense. U tell me then?’ Lol
@@Jay-ju9jw Lamar and Henry nullify the poor performance of their O line. Last years unit was better.
@@bigchungus1848the OLine is just inconsistent. They are phenomenal half the time and then straight up lost the other half.
man on that first run play they showed that looked like all time all madden blocking, Everybody on the line locked someone on the defense up...looked like the only ravens not blocking were derrick henry & lamar jackson....Dang!
that blocking right there matches lamar's running/scrambling highlights
I luv what l.jackson doing no accept if he dont get the 💍 this yr,let jus keep talkin

I think we all know who made the call to abandon the running game in the AFC Championship game last year.
Y’all are wilding
Mina the best NFL analyst bro. Smart, eloquent and concise. And did I mention beautiful? Geezus.
And then the 1950 Cleveland browns gutted those Eagles 35-0 or thereabouts in what to that date was the biggest football upset ever.
Lamar didn’t score three touchdowns. He scored one touchdown and threw for two touchdowns.

The Hay is in the Barn !!!❤
Mina played linebacker for the patriots. That’s why we should listen to her. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Defense is doing there thing ❤As we continue so shall our Greatness this year RAVENS LET GO💛🖤💜
It’s okay! I want teams to underestimate them😆They got some assassins in the secondary that’s gonna turn some heads in the playoffs
They are underrated. Except for playing Burrow for some reason. 9 tds and 900yds on them this season
Lamar has best OL in the NFL. 16 straight games with more rush yards than opponents. Henry has more yards before contact than any season in his career. 1,800 yard rusher. #1 offense. Defense is stepping up.
Not even close, the O-line is below average in pass protection against the best defenses. Lamar makes them look better than they are!
If they stick to the run game first and having LJ a threat the defense must account for every play, they stay out of 2nd/3rd longs and can keep their opponents predictable defensively.
@lennybeason1110 According to PFF, they are #3 in pass block win rate.
Only you bozos care about mvps at this point that’s why jackson won’t ever be sb champ
The media doesnt want to give credit to the Black head coach for the defense. That is the difference. The defense has made it easy for the ravems to run the ball and because of this, run the clock out

The defense isnt underrated the defense is much improved
They’ve gotten better. Let’s stop there
Damn y'all rlly must hate Lamar that bad LMAOO
Lamar the Great is best Quarterback in NFL. No competition. No comparison. He's also MVP. While Josh is MVPitty
I want to see who gets that 💍 first out of j.allen or l. Jackson they're both 🏈 out

Lamar Jackson is great, but they got that but that they always go
I love Mina Kimes. She just tells it like it is and unlike a lot of her co-workers you can tell she actually watch the games.
Stephen A Smith don’t watch the games, and I’m starting to think Shannon Sharpe don’t watch the games.
Them mfs too busy with their other obligations.
Is Henry chopped liver?
But but but it’s always a but
These the things the Ravens fix... The back end of the Defense, Special teams and "PENALTIES". Remember they're leading the league in penalties but in last 2 games only 5.💪🏿
Quarterbacky 🤔
Yes
Defense? They were awful for 10 games. Who cares that they are olaying competent now lol they should. Plays lights out then the praise can come in
We will but let’s not forget they were the worst and Lamar had to carry them for most of the season
Aren’t you media people the ones who rate them…
Mina Kimes is racist i bet if this was Josh Allen she would be giving him all the credit in the world she wouldn't mention the defense.🤦
Stop it, she's a big Lamar fan
exactly...
@freemarlboey639 no she's not, she just a hater like the others...
stop f-ing blaming monken for JHs mistakes!! the ravens same issues in the playoffs were happening when Greg Roman was the OC. yet everyone just blames Lamar and the OC meanwhile JH gets to live off a SB win from 12 years ago! the ravens don't stick with their game plan because they have a HC who panics in big moments. if you don't believe me go look at what Mike Tomlin had to say about "burning the house down"!!!!
I’ve been saying Harbaugh should be fired but no one hears me 🤦🏾♂️
@ and takes like ryan’s is why. they blame eveyone but him.
Dope real dope I like it
Mina ate some bad Kimchee. Ravens D is suspect at best.
Averaging 16 points per game from week 11 on and scoring 29 points per game. They've given up 33 the last three games. Ravens fans will take those numbers.
lol...
@richstrobel No. People who follow stats are satisfied. If you watch the games, you see how flimsy they are. Crunch time with the defense will hurt Lamar again. Lamar will have to play perfect as usual to carry that bum defense.
Yeah the same defense you had no faith in remember. Now you want to eat your words or take that statement back.your not a real ravens fan
Mina you've earned your crab cakes let me know when you get to Jimmy's
Mina is the only one that knows ball out of these idiots
No mina you have no right to change your narrative now because you had no faith before knowing good and well this defense will turn things around.your a raven hater and we true ravens dont need you jumping on the bandwagon
Ravens Overrated
What’s your team before you talk and don’t lie either

If if turns to a fif let's all get drunk on l. Jackson
Nah they don’t get credit for finally doing their jobs they sucked all year
Thank you sir! Don't discredit Lamar for these people who lost us at least two games 😒
@@natespann9447 The people who lost the games (Eddie Jackson, Marcus Williams, Trenton Simpson) are cut or benched. And they reduced Brandon Stephens' snap counts by bringing on Tre White. The players who have been doing their jobs properly all year, like Marlon, Kyle Hamilton, KVN, etc., deserve the praise they're getting.
@@theghosty99 It took Zach Orr like 10 weeks to drop em. I'd say Marlon been the only consistent guy and he deserves praise.
@@thestrika I didn't say anything about Zach Orr. But if you think Marlon is the only guy who's been doing his job you need to pay closer attention to things other than stats. Like the games.
@@theghosty99 You replied to the guy saying the defense lost us 2 games which they did and you specifically brought up the players that did for some reason and I said Zach Orr took too long to do it.
Hamilton has been dropping interceptions and Van Noy went like 7 weeks with 1 sack so no they haven't been doing it all year. You need to watch games buddy.
LAMEar Jackson will screw it up again in the playoffs this year just like he does every year! Ravens fans deserve a lot better!
Cry more😂
Yeah I'm still waiting for Lamar, Allen, or Burrow to win a ring. At least Lamar has some hardware unlike Allen who doesn't even own a trophy cabinet.
That was then, THIS IS NOW! Considering that we got the Steelers monkey off of our backs which is a big reason why we've lost in the playoffs over the years given that every team thats beaten us has used their blueprint, this year feels completely different compared to previous years because of that feat alone.
Surely you will chamge your tone after he gets that chip... right? RIGHT!?!?
Of course you wont. Then itll be "the defense carried bum-ar" or "he couldnt do it without Henry". Clowns have the best takes man 😂
@@gDiniM It's true. Lamar's haters come up with a new excuse every year. Haters have no other hobbies.
