I love the parts where Smaug is allowed to talk. It shows us who he is and why we should fear him. However, he is reduced to a simple mindless large idiot once the chase sequence started. The show has its moments like the one with Gollum, however, most of the show, based on its writing and characters, is very disappointing. Especially the extended edition which is more of a comedy.
