@@j0hnn13K It's not just love, it's also politics. Any possibility of him being seen as heir to the throne requires that Viserys be respected as king. Any questioning of Viserys's legitimacy undermines Daemon's prospects.

@@VictoriaTraducciones Can't really cast age aside though. Viserys is looking at possible wars on two fronts at the moment. One with the Crabfeeder and one with his brother who rides an extremely powerful dragon. There is also his questionable health that needs to be factored in. He has to be questioning whether he can afford to wait two years before trying to have another heir.
While marrying Laena would have strengthened the current bonds, that would all be for naught if Viserys died before they produced a male heir.

When an episode with no action maintains their attention and gets cheered, I call that a success. This show is going to be so good.

Rhys Ifans is great, but honestly most of the cast are doing a phenomenal job at present. Corlys, Daemon, Rhaenys, Rhaenyra and Viserys are all chewing up the scenes they're in. Allicent too.
A Dameon and Corlys alliance sounds like the most bad ass duo imaginable in this age of Westeros

Don't create another expectations like Daenerys, Rhaenyra is the better option as heir, but she's also has flaws, and if you read the books, don't expect fanfics as game of thrones tv show fans.

That ending scene with Corlys and Daemon is just so good, I love it! Probably one of my favourite scenes from this already and GoT.
I’m not super convinced of Matt Smith’s performance, but him clapping back at Corlys was a perfectly loaded delivery

He wanted to push Daemon into doing something he couldn't take back and then tell the king the story of how Daemon got violent, fully driving the wedge between them. Otto is too smart to forget an entire dragon exists. Otto told the king he wouldn't allow him to go! Otto knows Daemon hates him and that he was expecting the king to come. It's part of the game

I can't say enough how happy I am with this episode. When I read about critics who saw most of the season, they said this episode was the weakest and if that's the case, we are in for a great season. I'm glad it got renewed for season 2. I'm pretty sure it'll be deeper into the war. It's funny because I did not think I would be into this part of this storyline but I think that Milly is doing a great job of it. Now I'm nervous for Emma lol. Milly and Matt have some great chemistry. So far the person I like the least in the whole thing is Viserys. I still feel bad for him a little though.

I don't think any critics have seen most of the season at this point so not sure where you heard that. I also definitely thought this episode was better than the first (which I also liked).

The pain in Rhaenyras face! It's so sad to see, the moment of betrayal done by her father and her best friend! I feel for her 😭
Rhaenyra had a talk with Viserys about understanding having to re-marry for duty. Laena Velaryon would have been for duty, given she is the eldest daughter of the Lord of a powerful house. But marrying Alicent, a daughter of a second son of a house (even if it’s the Hand), against all advice is to do so out of love. Rhaenyra saw right then in that moment that her father is not marrying for duty but rather his own preference, and this means he could move on from her mother, and he could move on from her. This puts her position insecure, with two people who have lied to her for half a year.

This perfectly explains why she never intended to fulfill her duty as a princess, birthed her bastards and did whatever it takes to get her Strong children the claims to their so-called thrones. Viserys blindingly supported her through it proves he not only feels guilty for killing Aemma, but also due to his love over duty fiasco, contradicting what he and any royalty were supposed to do.
Daemon is such a unique character.

Feels good watching good GOT universe episodes back to back. As a book reader, the shit thats gonna happen in the next few episodes is gonna be intense.
daemon steals the show, hes rather a complex character. despite his childish behavior hes only wants Visery to acknowledge him, and daemon truly loves his brother and niece, when he mocked the kings a heir for a day being drunk it really was his way of grieving for the family loss and mocking the gods.
This is the power of a good movie that brings people together for a few moments and makes them spend good moments together.

The way how caraxes showed up, just shows how Drogon, not killing Jon, at the end of GOT, was utter BS.
Drogon killing Jon makes more sense than the last living Targaryen and rightful heir to the iron throne being exiled to the wall, it made zero sense. For one Dany made all 40.000/100.000(not certain of the exact number) dothraki screamers her bloodriders meaning they should've avenged Dany then follow her to the after-life according to the Dothraki way but Jon(Dany's killer} just casually strolled past tons of Dothraki screamers and paid him no mind. It would've made a lot of sense if Drogon bathed him in fire or if he was executed by the unsullied or killed by the Dothraki as an act of vengeance living no one to challenge Bran's succession.
@@zusiphesapo9598 Even Rhaenyra says to the men that they should be careful not to startle her dragon Syrax, because her dragon is very protective of her, highlighting the bond between a dragon and its dragonrider. But of course, the showrunners also forgot about that at the end of GOT.

What a situation. To be forced to choose between marrying your daughter's best friend, or marrying a 12-year-old girl who's related to you. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Viserys really is in the hot seat. Just like with his wife and that C-section. It's like what Otto Hightower said: "You are the king, but I don't envy you."
No wonder half the Targaryens went nuts, if crap like this is what they have to deal with when they're in charge.

I don't think he was forced to re-marry, he is the king. That would be understandable if he didn't have any children at all, but he recently named his only child Rhaenyra an heir to the Iron Throne. So I really don't understand the rush to remarry again, unless the people in the councel who were rushing him to marry have some ulterior motives (which is likely). There was only one logical choice which is marrying the 12yo girl because it's safer for their dynasty, she is half targaryen. Now the hightowers are one step closer to the throne, and with Otto manipulative ass sh*t will hit the fan.

Am I the only one seeing that Rhaenyra and Daemon are a lot alike? Every time they are together they don’t show hatred it’s almost like with their banter they admire each other. The meeting at Dragonstone, they were not mad at each other but again it seemed more like admiration. You can see Daemons impulsive nature in her when she suggests dragon riders to the step stones, choosing Christian Cole as Kings guard and her flying off to dragonstone. I think you will see that Daemon and Rhaenyra are more true Targaryen’s and Vicerys is a weak “westernized” king. I just don’t want people canceling this show because Rhaenyra doesn’t become who they thought.
