Such wonderful rich music...remind me of that group "Yes"...not directly, but with such elaborate arrangements and beautiful vocals. Such good music! Just what I needed.
Antiphon is my favourite album ever. It follows me on my adventures! There's something about this song's that speak the language of my essence. Tks!!!!
Antiphon is a very good example of modern post-rock - an indie genre that takes the instrumentation associated with traditional rock music and advances beyond formal structures of chords and songs to build layered, complex songs which edge towards the progressive style of yore, but retain some of the humiity associated with indie music. The result in Midlake's case is a rich, folk-inspired sound, incorporating vocal harmony - evoking a sort of mid-western, explorer/trapper aesthetic from the late 19th century. It's as if the gold-rush, prospecting and farming pioneers of yesteryear had been given rock guitar lessons. Quite a heady, intoxicating mix - and a very satisfying musical experience! :)

my only question to Midlake is, did you ever listen to Fossil Collective? The same question I would ask The Innocence Mission about The Sundays, I'm just curious... but the years went by...

2014 veya 15 olması lazım ama emin değilim. neil young ve crazy horses konserindeki iki öngruptan biriydi ki diğeri de büyük ev ablukada'ydı ancak biz köprü trafiğine takıldık diye onları kaçırmıştık

While I love old Tame Impala, and I enjoy a few tracks by Temples, I can’t say I hear either band in Midlake, or this song especially. They are more folk-jazz fusion. The closest thing would be the guitar tone, and other than being sharp and buzzy, I don’t see the resemblance. Drumming is much different. Singing/lyrics are much different. Bass... well it’s more complex than Temples or Impala. Maybe it’s the synths and piano? Midlake is kind of... unique. Where as temples are clearly influenced by Tame Impala. Midlake reminds me more of a band called Broadcast, not for their sound exactly but more the atmosphere and kind of classic/jazzy mood. Mixed with melancholic dream sounds.

They do definitely have one foot in that 70's British Prog Rock sound. I get quite a lot of early Genesis, Yes and Jethro Tull.

I love the bassline here
Same. it gets me eveytime!

Great song, great album. 2:30 - 2:45...as deep as music can get ❤ Incredible baselines throughout the song.

This is fucking incredible. I love how McKenzie used adopted drum patterns from drummers like John Bonham throughout the song.
This song transports me somewhere good.

*"Antiphon"*
[Verse 1]
Find the poor
All kneeled down before
He who takes and defiles
I want more, I want more
[Verse 2]
Idols wore
Fine wool at the door
To revile then forsake
Fight a war, fight a war
[Chorus]
Antiphon antiphon…
Fight a war, fight a war…
[Verse 3]
Tried and bore
Blame for all ignored
Head contrived, tongue applied
Nevermore, nevermore
[Bridge]
Antiphon antiphon antiphon antiphon…
Antiphon antiphon antiphon antiphon…
[Verse 4]
I want more than kneel down before
Fight a war, they sit at the door
Nevermore, all to be ignored
To the call, a response

I'm a hardcore hip hop fan but this is cool..really trippy surf vibes
this band is freaking gold
I hear harmonies that were in the air in the fifties...The Four Freshmen, for example.

Idols wore fine wool at the door
To revile then forsake
