Never knew of these guys, heard it earlier this morning on a long trip into work, on Sirius, song really struck a nerve emotionally with me for some reason, Good to know people are still making music with feeling, and not pandering to the masses.
"Rulers, Ruling All Things" Lyric for all you singers! I have been cruel and kind without knowing I fell in the silence overwhelmed by these days For I have been shown dear rulers, ruling all things Thinking the world was mine to lay hold on I breathe in the promise of maiden and man But each have their own illusions to hold onto I only want to be left to my own ways The rulers of one leaving all things undone I stood in awe of the whole creations Gathered among them was the morning Giving all its rays Thinking the world was mine to be lost in I ran with freedom and sank in between For I have the path of wonder There before me I only want to be left to my own ways The rulers of one leaving all things undone I stood in awe of the whole creation Gathered among them was the morning Giving all its rays
when I first heard ROSCOE I honestly thought, "well, they can't top that--it's an anthem. One day a treasured hymn" but then this...I am conflicted. I'll have to simply love it all.
Amazing & Epic track, no mention of them being Turkish on Wiki, how come they have so many Turkish fans, not that theer's anything wrong with that. You guys obviously have great taste in music.
As a Turkish person now living very close to where this band is from: Some people feel that the world is large and life is short, so why limit art to your home nation? The UK band Piano Magic is also very popular in Turkey. I don't really know why. Lots of English language bands perform in Turkey without becoming very popular. Sometimes random chance leads to beauty.
@burleighrapids no doubt. if midlake was the worse band ever i would still love their lyrics, but them being an incredible band just brings everything together
I see you posted this two years ago, but I was reminded of Riverside while listening to this song and scrolling through the comments. Here's a song you might like. ruclips.net/video/ZS1crIkpnwc/видео.html&pp=ygUacml2ZXJzaWRlIHJpdmVyIGRvd24gYmVsb3c%3D
Hi random RUclips commenter, since I listened to this album a lot yesterday, some more thoughts came to mind and I feel like sharing them with someone. Here are some 1970's songs that this reminds me of: Caravan "I Don't Know Its Name"', Donovan "There Is An Ocean", Strawbs "Witchwood", Wishbone Ash "Leaf and Stream". Have a nice day.
Midlake is criminally under rated.
My favorite Midlake song off my favorite Midlake album!
This is just one of the most beautiful songs of recent times, along with "Acts of Man" or "Roscoe". Midlake are just great!
I can't believe how much this band is unsung !
I love their medieval harmonization. And the content of the lyrics. Totally speaks to me.
I have just discovered this band, clicked on this video and I TOTALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG !!! fuckin' amazing :))
I miss this

"Rulers, Ruling All Things" Lyric for all you singers!
I have been cruel and kind without knowing
I fell in the silence overwhelmed by these days
For I have been shown dear rulers, ruling all things
Thinking the world was mine to lay hold on
I breathe in the promise of maiden and man
But each have their own illusions to hold onto
I only want to be left to my own ways
The rulers of one leaving all things undone
I stood in awe of the whole creations
Gathered among them was the morning
Giving all its rays

I ran with freedom and sank in between
For I have the path of wonder
There before me

I stood in awe of the whole creation
Gathered among them was the morning
Giving all its rays
midlake is my favorite band of all time

Alan Cam they performed in Turkey, that's why. You can find acts of man that was taken there.
