- British teenager Jay Slater vanished on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife last month, giving way to a chilling mystery.
A search effort spanned weeks involving family members, police and volunteers.
It started off as an ordinary story - a 19-year-old who attended a music festival on holiday with friends. Jay had later travelled to an Airbnb in rural Masca, an 11-hour walk from his accommodation with people he met on a night out.
A phone call made on 1% phone battery to friend Lucy Law on Monday June 17 was the last time anybody had heard from him.
Social media was rife with conspiracy theories and many questions were still unanswered after Spanish police called off the search.
After 29 days of searching, the body of the missing teen was found close to his last known location.

They keep slating the public but aren't mentioning the thousands of pounds that were raised by them.
It's a bit sick how The Media are dumping on the GP for wanting to uncover a story. They talk about how hurtful speculation is to the family- I don't know why. The average person is not getting their ideas directly to the family, and was it not Jay's mother who said he might be held against his will somewhere? They have lumped the entirety of interested people into one group and put so much responsibility on them- the police should be able to ignore public speculation and have rando comments not interfere with their job negatively.

The news covers a “Mystery” & the internet gets interested. There’s interest online so the news thinks, “people want to know about this!” so they cover it more. It goes round & round.
There are MANY mothers in this country going through the absolute nightmare of a missing child. They would love just 1% of the attention this case has received.
I saw today a post from someone who joined one of the earlier searches, he videos his his visit to the site where the body was found, and stated that he actually searched the scrub land where the body was discovered. He was maybe 2feet from the body.
I think this story illustrates how difficult it was for all the searchers.

There's still A LOT of unanswered questions about this! Like why would you take an 11 hour walk with no mobile battery and no water? Why would you not walk along the road and instead go through very harsh terrain filled with cactus and no clear trails? If he was happy to walk for 11 hours why not not just wait 1 hour for a bus? There are tons more questions surrounding this lads death, it surely doesn't end just cos they found his body! If that was my son I would want to know what were the full circumstances that resulted in this terrible ending!

His smile was captivating, that truly cheeky ,lovable rouge, and i can see why this story took on its own life,
irrespective of his beginnings,
Many people saw more than just a young reckless 19 year old ,who had made mistakes , they also saw a side that could he could have manifested into a great young man ,
many have been captivated ,by this young man and many would have wanted him to be ok ,sadly the end is not as many prayed for ,and it really should be a time to allow the family to grieve ,Debbie Duncan said he was her right hand ,her baby ,you can see he adored his mother, his family ,and at the end of the day it really is just about them .

Is it too soon to give him the Darwin award? He sets off on an 11hour walk (in the wrong direction) with no water and seemingly not having had breakfast or hydration. He was told there's a bus later and could have charged his phone while waiting. And he got to this BnB with strangers even his friends advised against. How did he fall? He was on a road. 🤔
Let's hope this is a warning to anyone contemplating a binge weekend in a foreign area. I think his addled mind thought he could cut off a long walk by going straight down a path. Would look shorter than following the long twisty road. His poor family, having to come to terms with all the "if onlys".

The island is not the biggest? That's true. Globally, Tenerife is the 39th largest island of around 900 000 recognised islands, Greenland being the largest and Bishop's Rock being the smallest, but it's the largest of the Canary Island and the second largest of the Spanish Island, with Mallorca being the largest. I love how they try to make things look so small, but were, quite obviously, too lazy to look up some facts.

Apart of me has a conspiracy theory just like most others. I belive Jay may have been gay, in the closet. I belive these 2 lads he went back to the B&B with were hookong up with him and by morning once hes somewhat soberwd up, realised their dodgey and got out ASAP. Okay, so to Bleksley I would ask why is it that Mark Williams Thomas said he'd seen evidence from one of Jay's friends that he'd left the apartment because he was in fear of his life in a video Mark himself uploaded, but then when they find his body the reporters are making out that walking down a mountain after being on a session is just a normal thing to do and there is no further mention of this evidence since? By no means am I claiming to know more than an ex Scotland Yard, but I find this sudden change very strange.
