Dear Sonya Belousova, I am 11 Years old and I just wanted to say how cool it is to here you play. I'm starting to play piano and I just recenttly discovered you and your pieces are AMAZING! Thanks for being amazing.
I've been listening to this performance for years now and it still impresses me. The clarity in the way she plays brings forward the melody and accompaniment so beautifully. If you wear headphones and listen carefully, you can even hear the foot pedal being pressed throughout, and man does she press it a lot! This definetly adds to the quality in tone!

Hearing this piece (played BEAUTIFULLY on piano) brings me a flood of feelings. It reminds me of a John Candy movie. Endearing, wholesome, simpler times with a slightly hesitant optimism. It makes me think of working hard on your goals and dreams, stumbling along the way but still persevering and pulling it off. Looking back at the obstacles and struggles you were forced to confront but now with a fond gratitude realizing those challenges made it sweeter and more valuable. PS: Maybe something for "On the Spot", how about "Bow to No One" from Destiny?
How can anyone even come up with a piano version as beautiful as this after hearing it like 20 times...imagine playing that intro after just one time...
FYI, you aren't supposed to blow on the game cartridges! The moisture from your breath will just wear out the connectors more quickly. What's actually getting the game working is the act of taking it out and putting it back in. Regardless of blowing, eventually you'll get a better connection between cartridge and control deck.
I have been a huge fan of this version for long so I decided to take Tom Grey's challenge, best Moon theme version! Really thanks for this video is being very inspirational! missing you guys

Always loved this tune when my oldest used to play the video game ages ago. So glad that so many other people appreciated it as much as I. Simple, clever, playful -- beautiful.
Lovely playing. But have a complaint about the pedal noise. It looks like the whole facade connected to the pedals is moving when Sonya presses and releases the pedal is moving -- just hear a loud thumping noise throughout the song.
+DJFLDJFL Yeah, I'm of fan of artists like Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnulds, that use piano noise stylistically in their recordings and I love it within that context of intimate, ambient prepared piano playing. But in the context of this recording it just became distracting. I went back and listened to Sonya's Star Wars Medley and it was there, but not nearly as noticeable, then listened to Jarrod Radnich's Star Wars Medley and couldn't hear the pedals at all in his recording. I guess it comes down to many factors of pianist/ style/ piano/ sound engineer/ mike placement and recording venue.
For sure. I've just honestly never even considered pedal noise to be a positive or negative. It's just part of playing a physical instrument...there's gonna be friction/pedal noise/string noise/etc. Even worse is if you start listening to singers in between lines. Listen for their inhalations. Once you start listening for that, you'll never be able to unhear it and it sucks. haha. Matt Bellamy from Muse inhales really loudly and it's kinda funny!
Jeez, thanks. Now I cannot ignore the sound. I think part of it though is her over-enthusiasm. I am a horrible newbie-level pianist, or I was before I quit, and I hated that sound and would try to minimize it just by being less jerky with the pedal use. I hope we're talking about the same thing here?

I miss this project so much, but I’m so happy the videos are still up. This theme from a game I never played has such a special place in my heart because of y’all. 💜
This is for sure one of the best classic videogame arrangements for piano I think I've heard. It doesn't sound that exactly like the original, as in capturing all of the different parts note for note, but that can really be a trap, as it's generally impossible and/or doesn't create that good of an effect anyway (there is just an inherent difference in timbre between piano and the original midi library that usually can't be overcome). Instead this arrangement does a really great job, I think, using the themes from the original to create something new which expresses the joy of a childhood spent playing the game in a more general sense, rather in the style of a medley. Thank you for sharing this.
Timber means wood... Did you, perhaps, mean "timbre," the music term? (Tahm-burr) I lved the piano sound here, she nails it. I spent a childhood thinking about, and playing variations on a theme, in this case. Glad you liked it, in any case! Cheers! 😀
Wow - surprised it took me this long to stumble across this video. What a fantastic arrangement! The playing was so fluid I thought the opening shot was CGI. Outstanding!
