It did not suck…..thank you, I have run into the exact same problems you talked about. Usually reloaders will tell you all about what they are doing, I don’t know what the deal is with TSS and the lack of any data to get you started. Anyway, you got a thumbs up and a new subscriber. Thanks again and do some more like this!!
Thank you, and you are right about any of the non toxic load data. Bismuth as well. It's a BIG secret. Like all your videos especially the ones on making blackpowder. Appreciate the matter of fact attitude.
Thanks for your entertaining and informative video. I appreciate the ASE patch! My 3 inch number 2 lead 1 & 7/8 oz loads have less than impressive patterns. My turkey hunting buddies that use factory TSS turkey loads just blanket the target with ridiculously tight saturated patterns of #7 & #9. For TSS I’m considering smaller shot; because with its density smaller shot should be effective and reach vitals or pass through. Looking forward to more content.
It’s funny I’ve just got done looking high and low for a 12 gauge tungsten waterfowl load data and can’t find anything. Everything you said is exactly what happened to me.
Great video, looking at loading some 410 2.5 inch with tss #9.5, If you have a line on data and components would greatly appreciate it. I know three inch data exists. Cheers
I hunt waterfowl mostly Canadians. I reload 3 inch 1 5/8 ounce bismuth. I’m was given a container of heavy shot . Can I reload the heavy shot with the same recipe I use for the bismuth? Very interested in the 3 inch 2 ounce video you mentioned. Hope to see it soon. This video was well done .
Jake that was good. I can barely afford lead shot so Tungsten is a long way off but I still want to expand my knowledge for the future. As popularity goes up price usually comes down. Mike
Awesome stuff. Would make a great turkey load with anything from #7.5-#10 TSS... I'm using 34 grains Alliant Steel with 2 ounces of lead in a 3" TPS or LBC50 wads-- if you need a starting point with a 3" load.
Greate and FUN video. If you want tighter patterns for long-range(really long) stick with that 1 1/2oz, and inside that 12 wad(2 each slits 3/4 length) a steel 20 gauge like cds20 or similar with gas seal cut off, 2 slits, and place opposite of the slits in 12 wad. You can skip mylar in this. Use very open choke(less disturbance of shot, but experiment) play with 2-3 slits in either wad. Now...for LASER beam...a 28 gauge wad (for lead or steel, dosent matter) inside that 20 again...But now it don't hold 1 1/2 oz, a bit less. I have always a couple of those for still standing targets "beyond even TSS range" Everyone can read this comment so I don't write distance...but try))) Just remember to hold over. and you need more speed than 1200, but that's obtainable for a lighter load. It's the PRECISION that limits range, after all its not a rifle barrel....Regards from Norway:-)
Any time I develop a load for distance shooting, I'm more interested in penetration at distance than group size. Put a piece of plywood up at 100 yards and see which loads bounce right off, and which loads stick. You'll be surprised.
That’s the great thing about tungsten, being so dense, it really carries the energy through the target. But with that being said, I don’t think I’d take a shot at over 60 yards with any shotgun, regardless of what it’s loaded with.
I do testing at 100 yards to make discrepancies stand out and for comparison. It's not about hunting at that distance. Think of it as a way of measuring downrange or impact velocity. Keep up the good videos, I love'em@@Everythingblackpowder
Great video. Thanks for taking time out of your schedule to share. And you are right it is TOP SECRET SHIT ! I DONT KNOW WHY? But Can you make another DIY short video demonstrating of your techniques on making W/#6 or #7 shot TSS? Thanks again for your help..Need help for using it for ducks.
I loaded 20rounds of 6mm tungsten into my 10ga. Emptied out some steel hulls, added mylar wrap, shot, buffering and recrimped. Works just fine in youtes out to 75yds.

I’m looking to load TSS #9 12ga reloads for waterfowl hunting, and was wondering what you used for powder for your 1oz load. Did you also use the blue dot, but less grains?
@@livingintheprairie1517 I feel the same way. I don’t shoot them often, in fact I really only went on this crusade because people are so strange about the load data. I usually hunt with a flintlock, TSS really isn’t my style.
Lead is banned in Canada for migratory bird hunting, i may have found a source of lead for field use, but cannot find .60 round or sabbot. Largest is .54
I'm not a huge fan of that wad. The lack of a cushion makes felt recoil much more intense at least in my guns. I would suggest you try the mg42 from ballistic products.
Have you started to consider building a shot tower with a foundry on top yet? I saw a focused mirror display in New Mexico that could melt bricks in about three minutes. Melt it ,spew it out a nozzle and catch it in a bucket of water or quenching medium of some sort. At these prices , one’s mind begins to wander. Geesh ! Just joking around , I have myself half convinced to haul a rivet forge and a crucible up a tree to try it.
Top secret $hit. Lol. Agree with you feelings 100 percent. Compared to every other hunting/fishing thing I’ve done, it’s surprising to me not more information is shared on load data.
One could make the argument that you could kill almost anything with a 1022 and a cheesy scope, but when you’re in thick brush or heavily wooded country a shotgun is much better suited for the task than a scoped rifle, in my opinion. I’ve only ever killed one coyote with a .22lr and he still managed to run some 200 yards before he went down.
Great Job. Thinking about reloading tss for my 12 ga. for coyotes. Want to do a #2 3inch load. Did you make that video yet? couldn’t find it. Once you have the equipment how does the price compare to say factory apex. loads. Here in alberta Canada it’s hard to get any tss. The largest tss load I could find was #7 so i just bought the only #7 tss load I could find (federal premium turkey) anywhere and it was $16.80 a shot $83.99 for 5 shots.🫣. I just had to see what all the hype was about.
Sorry, I never made a video on the 3 inch load. The recoil was more than I like to shoot and half the shot actually blew the action back some so I didn’t pursue further.

Thanks a lot appreciate it and you're right nobody wants to get Sued. Great no nonsense video.
would love to see the 3" shotshell load video. I am looking forward to a great goose killer out to 70yds.

Best 9 minutes on youtube for TSS. Have you made any loads with tss- bb's? Thinking I might try some for a coyote load here soon.

So I was wondering if you ever came across doing TSS with #7 shot I still can't get any recipe For 12 gauge #7 shot for geese.. Thank you
Nope, sorry
Nice video. Thanks!
but... did you just use a ryobi with brushed (sparking) motor REALLY close to an open powder container? :O
No. That was photoshopped…..
That's crazy because tungsten is used in armor piercing ammo
Great video thanks
What is the purpose of the mylar? Does it help contain the buffer? THanks
It protects the barrel from the tungsten, which is extremely hard and will eat away at the barrel.
Isn’t the full length wad sufficient for barrel protection?
Just curious, How did you developed this load? Did you send it in for testing ? If so who did the testing ? Thanks .
I’m looking to load TSS #9 12ga reloads for waterfowl hunting, and was wondering what you used for powder for your 1oz load. Did you also use the blue dot, but less grains?
32gr Blue Dot, 1oz #2TSS, 1170fps
Nice video, nail some coyotes for me. Where can I get 20 gauge load data for tss? also what the mylar for?
Thank you. Check ballistic products website, they have some data for 20ga TSS. The Mylar wrap protects the tss from scoring the barrel.
How much for 1 pound of the shot? And you only get about 10 rounds a bag of shot?
it's about $50 a pound and I get between 8 and 16 shots a pound depending on payload weight per shot. It's ridiculously expensive.
@@Everythingblackpowder to rich for my house. I reload for the boys and I and 3 young men can really waste the rounds. Thank you for your input.

Anyone got load Data for .410 x 3" with #9.5-10 TSS?
I don’t
If you want your fixed choke removed...lol
The person you bought the shot from “Hal Abbot” will give you load data if you email him.
Why spend so much trying to kill a yote at 50. You can do the same for like $0.01 with a 10/22 and a cheeze scope.
