      Greg McKinney I think Ringo was actually the most revered of the Beatles to the other Beatles. Shame they make up garbage that the others didn’t consider Ringo a very good drummer. The whole thing about John saying Ringo wasn’t the best drummer in Beatles is completely made up and has never been found to have come from John.

    • @SemberUno
      @SemberUno 5 лет назад +5

      @@gutenbird As a drummer I can say Ringo is just adequate. While its true that the "he isn't even the best drummer in the beatles" quote was purely fictitious there were a number of times where he was replaced as the recording artist. He can hold a beat but even by 60s standards his playing is pretty plain. It works but isn't amazing playing by any means.

    • @gutenbird
      @gutenbird 5 лет назад +12

      @@SemberUno Well, you are probably completely correct. I say that not because I think Ringo sucked but because when you are only looking at certain playing skills, usually you will find someone a lot better than someone in most bands simply from a technical stand point. But that's not really what a band is about. Are there better bass players than McCartney? Sure. Many from a technical point even in the 60s. I just don't think that's the point. Ringo really served The Beatles well. I am not pretending to be an expert or have great knowledge. I know some say he was average and many say that he is completely underrated. I know one thing is that he did allow the ideas of Lennon and McCartney to shine through where Best did not.

      @notleeland 4 года назад +7

      66joydipi True that. Individually, they’re solo music is pretty good. But as The Beatles, it was straight up magic.
      There’s 1 Lennon solo song that stood the test of time (Imagine) and honestly not really any McCartney or Harrison solo tracks that really stick out as legendary.
      But I’d bet my life savings that in another 100 years, people will still be singing along to Beatles songs

    • @66joydipi
      @66joydipi 4 года назад +4

      @@notleeland I totally agree! The Beatles are timeless! Every song, every album, every record is a masterpiece of its own kind. This is a musical and artistic genius uniqueness! Just considering that in the Rolling Stone’s definitive list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, The Beatles ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ is in the first place, ‘Revolver’ in the third and ‘Rubber Soul’ in the 5th, ‘The White Album’ in the 10th and ‘Abbey Road’ in the 14th, making The Beatles the greatest band on Earth! To prove this, for the first time ever, NASA beamed a song - The Beatles' "Across the Universe" - directly into deep space at 7 p.m. EST on Feb. 4, 2008. The transmission was aimed at the North Star, Polaris, which is located 431 light years away from Earth. The song traveled across the universe at a speed of 186,000 miles per second.This to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the song's recording, the 45th anniversary of the Deep Space Network, and the 50th anniversary of NASA. "Amazing! Well done, NASA!" Paul McCartney said in a message to the space agency. "Send my love to the aliens. All the best, Paul." !!!
      It is not the first time Beatles music has been used by NASA; in November 2005, McCartney performed the song "Good Day Sunshine" during a concert that was transmitted to the International Space Station. "Here Comes the Sun," "Ticket to Ride" and "A Hard Day's Night" are among other Beatles' songs that have been played to wake astronaut crews in orbit. This is an amazing fact : Beatles music to every living being across the Universe.....

    Paul wrote "Yesterday" at 22 years old and did it in a dream. He was going to call it scrambled eggs. Just a small example of what was a silly song from a dream that turned out to be a hit that in itself would have made a career to another musician alone. Add to that all the other great songs Paul, John and George wrote either together or separately it is astounding. Heck even Ringo did great solo. But he also did not do too shabby being the human drum machine for the most successful rock band in history. All the ingredients were just right and there are so many required for this level of success with a rock/pop band.

I was blessed to have seen Paul McCartney play live in 1990 and to have seen Ringo Starr and his band play in 2016. Although I consider myself to have an eclectic taste music, nothing compares to the Beatles, i still listen to them every day or read a book about them or watch a RUclips video about them. the Beatles are the best! peace every one... like Tom Hanks said about George Harrison, although all things must pass, the Beatles will last forever!

      First of: The reason you normie fans doesn't like Heather is because she hinted on tv that her ex husband is ANOTHER MAN. That did provoke you people living with your eyes closed.
      You aren't capable thinking Heather had VERY GOOD reasons for divorcing "Sir Paul" (William).
      The money William payed Heather was "a piss in the ocean" for him really.
      You should google "The Linda tapes" instead of being so gullible that you believe Bill and Linda had a "perfect marriage".
      You normies, you are so naive.
      You would look at "Sir Paul" more sober if you were aware that he is NOT James Paul McCartney.
      William works better with jewish women instead of "gentiles".

    Ringo's 1973 eponymous LP (eponymous means self-titled), where he included "Photograph", "Back off, Boogaloo" and his remake of the old Johnny Burnette hit, "You're Sixteen" has been ignored in this doco.

      Boogaloo was a single that wasn't part of that album. It did later become a bonus track on the Goodnight Vienna reissue.

      @@worlds1ep3enthusiast92 Okay, I stand corrected on "Back Off Boogaloo" but it was Tr.5/Side A of *Blast From Your Past* Apple PCTC-7170, which I thought to be an Australia-only LP but seems to have turned up in Britain as PCS-7170 and in the lesser USA market as SW-3422 and in Germany as 1C 062-06 008. Perhaps initially it was meant as an Australia-Only issue but EMI's parent company in Britain thought enough of it to "spread the joy". The British issue was on 12th December, 1975 where as the Australian issue was about mid-year.

    Ringo, speaking about himself "...I am your basic offbeat drummer with funny fills". Narrator says "Ringo was a right handed drummer playing a left hand kit".

      John's rickety personality structure, embittered by his father's abandonment, the loss of his beloved mother and temperament to nasty when it suited him, was no match to LSD and heroin. John must have been guarded by some Providential Grace while he used hard drugs, but it ruined his judgment. Evidently Providence was not on duty at the Dakota that night. He was cleaned up and on the right road to life but there were no highway signs that warned there was "Danger Ahead."

    we hippies are so forgiving when other people get murdered and raped and we are so against prison and authority, but when it's one of us we don't want the murderer out, even after almost 40 years. And no, Yoko did not forgive Chapman, and yes she's still advising against his release. And in 13:05 they are actually threatening him when he does come free.
