There's a scene in Peter Jackson's "Get Back" where George is helping Ringo write it. It is a very cooperative thing, while they're waiting for Paul and John to show up.
Imagine making this otherworldly album, and it's their LAST album. Christ, it makes me ache for what could have been had they worked things out. Two things happened almost simultaneously that couldn't have been worse and were the beginning of the death knell, Brian Epstein's death and John meeting Yoko.
My favourite Beatles album. Don't get me wrong I love all of their albums. Abbey Road was the last album they recorded to feature all four Beatles so it has a sentimental value to me. Thank you Beatles and of course George Martin for all of the great music that all of you guys recorded and produced. The greatest band of all time.
Abbey Road and Revolver are my two favorite albums. I like them more than Sgt Pepper. The albums which are less impressive are the two albums where they did not really work as a team: The White Album and Let It Be. The latter two are just some collections of songs, some good ones, some not impressive.
Ringo’s final comment “every band should end at 8 years” is spot on! After 8 years, the best of a group has been recorded and they either duplicate themselves or release material that doesn’t measure up.
The isolated snippets in the background of different parts of these songs are priceless, especially the synthesizer segments. Seemingly simple melodies, when combined and layered, bring a rich depth to the music. I was pretty much done with The Beatles after the White Album, having moved on to other bands and various musical styles. Abbey Road pulled me back to them. They were still relevant and innovative. It surprised me, how much I loved that album. And of course, being their last hurrah, it was bittersweet. Chuck in Northern New England
Some of the dialog is taken from the David Wiggs interviews that came out about 1976, I have the double LP set. Each Beatle has a side of the LP and they have four interviews each from various years.
It’s my favorite Beatles album for sure. “Because” is my favorite track though. I love the harpsichord progression, and then the follow up with the guitar, then those vocal harmonies are just the best.
My #1 favourite band..👍🏻🎸 I love the Beatles. The greatest band in the bloody world. Revolver and Sgt. Pepper are my favourite records... for this month 😅 cheers.
Makes the best music of their whole lives: 'It just wasn't working anymore." Yea, right. That's more of a hindsight excuse they made up to justify getting used to not having to work for a living, or put up with any inconveniences, appointments to keep, or compromising with others. No, I think they were getting spoiled, life was becoming too easy with all this money to spend, free time to blow on whatever, no responsibilities and then "oh no, now we're supposed to make music again? Go watch anyone who doesn't HAVE TO do anything for awhile, then interrupt their "busy schedule" with a task and some responsibility to do something specific, and watch them fight it, have endles problems with every aspect of it, and be unable to cooperate with anyone else. And notice the difference in their countenances during the period where they were under demanding contracts, forced to get along and work things out, show up, and then how after they started taking vacations, going off and playing with other people, spending too much time apart, everything to do with the Beatles starts becomings a chore, the smiles are more rare, marriage & girlfriend problems start, they individuate over everything, and a tug-of-war starts over control issues, and they no long look happy or into it. But strangely, their music still gets better than ever.
Interesting. Ringo once called the “rock opera” junk but later it was great. He says that is his favorite album along with George Martin. Lennon’s was The Beatles, Macca Sgt . Pepper and Harrison Rubber Soul.
Rubber Soul is the true essence of The Beatles right in the middle of their career. And there are things I prefer about the later albums believe me. So I'm with George on this one (in fact he considers "Revolver" and "Rubber Soul" basically the same record in one interview I read... But there's something great about "Revolver" that takes it even a step further into greatness, if that makes any sense)
The whole story is perfect just the way it is. With a perfect beginning, middle and end… Why wish for anything to be different? It’s perfect just the way it is, with all the drama and everything ❤
Hey, how's it going? Listen, I was wondering if you can make a video essay about the history of the English animated band Gorillaz and its members, albums, videos, stories, and phases, please? Because I think that group deserves its history video made by you and La Hemeroteca.
Paul, everyone else in the studio that day was fully aware that the idea to simply go out and take a cover photo on the road was Ringo's impulsive idea (as we're so many other impulsive ideas). You ought to give credit where credit is due--for once.
Can anybody tell me what the clip of the three Beatles & George Martin talking Golden Slumbers comes from please ? Would love to see more of it . Thanks .
May seem funny or not. My fave Beatles album is Abby Road. Like so much in life, it's the time and place where you first heard it or experienced something. When it was released I was 13, and just dropped acid for the first time. It was a very different and despite the Vietnam War, things were better then in the States.
I was somewhat stunned when Paul said he couldn't read music. I guess his talents as a songwriter, singer, bassist and multi-instrumentalist rose above or simply didn't require a written "language".
Mannnnnnnnn can ya imagine if John hadda given Yoko (O NO) credit on Because, as she produced the bed track part of the backwards piano melody. Her name on an Abbey Road masterpiece! My fave album ever since it came out in '69, of any genre. Scary thought I know
Im pretty sure that a certain band member bringing his woman into the studio to sit next to him and stare at everybody while they are trying to be creative would be unnerving to say the least.

George's comment about Octopus' Garden is so sweet, love to hear his deep love and admiration of his band mate
He loved Ringo so much. They on working with one another after the split.
There's a scene in Peter Jackson's "Get Back" where George is helping Ringo write it. It is a very cooperative thing, while they're waiting for Paul and John to show up.
The Greatest Album ever made, By the greatest band of all time, thanks for putting this together.
The 4 greatest musicians and the greatest ever album of all time!

You are in good company. Both Paul and George have said it is the best track on the album.
It’s got kinda a bohemian rhapsody feel to it with the harmonies… so beautiful… never heard this one before but just ❤ it
Yes, John, it is a DAMN funky track! Everyone really kicked ass on it, too.
Abbey road,- is my favorite one!!!! She’s so! One of the best song I ever heard!!!! Thanks for this stuff!!!!
No problem. Join us again on another planet in another universe ninety years from now 👍
The moog synthesizer and ringos drums and a backing orchestra perfecto

Lovely. Thank you for bringing this to light.
Such great pics!! They must have been some of the most photographed people in the 20th century!
Of course
My favourite song is Oh Darling. Apparently John wanted to sing it but Paul said My song my voice.
Plus "Paul" had to sing backmasked line "In me lives He"
A wise decision
Actually, John said, "his song, his voice."
Very gentlemanly, especially for our man John.
Simply awesome job!

Ringo and George didn't particularly like Pepper. They both said they felt like session musicians.
I've always said my three favorite albums of all time number one Abbey Road number to Pink Floyd The Wall number three Quadrophenia by The Who

What they needed was a break.
I was somewhat stunned when Paul said he couldn't read music. I guess his talents as a songwriter, singer, bassist and multi-instrumentalist rose above or simply didn't require a written "language".
None of the Beatles could read music.
In my opinion, that freed them up to be such an amazingly innovative band.
