😞So sad that there aren't more of these videos. These are the most informative XCSki videos I've seen. Wish you guys were still around to help me learn to ski with no anterior cruciate ligament in either knee. Thanks for the great information and fun style!

just awesome! gives the ambitious but terrified downhill cross-country skiers out there (like myself) a bit of hope, a bit of courage and some much appreciated guidance. thank you, and greetings from Montreal.

Very good comments that I can use for instruction. Lots of psychological barriers that people can overcome by thinking about the positives.

Your right about the mind games nordic skiers play with downhill. I love the idea of starting half way down. Thanks.

I like the idea of coaching in terms of a kind of situational awareness, creating proper conditions for learning. The advice on coaching a nervous athlete at a downhill struck me as especially decent. Isn't it true that the easy response is just to say- Drop in there!? Registering the anxiety as having been recognized and understood is the proper place to begin, then pick up focus on a technique detail of a descent patterned to the athlete.
Shout out to HC from Canada!
    More XC skiing!

Few days ago i was thinking just the same about that...you have to take downhill skiing as a fun and be brave

Right on the money. Especially scary on narrow, icy trails with trees. Target fixation - look where you want to go, not where you want to avoid.

dido that. You folks have an uniquely entertaining manner, yet articulate clearly on the how to. Thank you for the planning and great work. You must above all continue to produce more. This really is the gold standard. Thank you

Read through the comments - most want more, almost all say how good it is ...pretty much a message you could shoot longer videos because people want more of your excellent sports psychology which compliments your "natural" technical instruction so well!! Being a farmboy from the prairie (big sky country Canada) downhill terrifies me ...so just got to learn to fly! Thanks for the insight!

Cool! I enjoy so much skiing down-hill! I guess I have built-up my confidence through the years. I sometime forget how scary it is to some people. My best advice is you either go downhill or you don’t! I never felt trying to go faster than what the hill would allow me to go but often when I was trying to slow down! My solution is that I do not slow down anymore when I ski downhill. I simply do an extra turn or more edging that will slow me down while staying in control. Snow Plow cause your legs to contract too much so not a good idea for a long down-hill. Snow plowing push the snow on the side this is not a very civic thing to do. So practice practice practice and go down as fast as you can that is the way to do it. On the bright side if you go down fast enough you won’t feel a thing if you fall. 🤔🤔🤔

The flexibility of cross country boots, boot attachment and the skis themselves provide little control at speed and make slopes challenging that would be laughable on alpine skis. Perhaps speed improvements can be gained by modifying the equipment to be more rigid, in the direction of alpine ski touring gear, possibly compromising on performance on the flats.
