As many have said already, it was heartwarming to see that they were a team from the beginning and took responsibility together. No pointing fingers, and both motivated to fix their situation!
So much easier to help someone who wants to be helped.

Being “house proud” has caused so much financial ruin. Everyone that I know who have gorgeous, showpiece homes have enormous mortgages. My husband and I bought a fixer-upper for cash about ten years ago. It is a stunning place that people look at with awe? No way! It’s small and unimpressive, but it’s ours. We don’t have a mortgage and the value, when you add up what we’ve done to improve it plus how much it initially cost, would give us a 400% profit if we sold it today. At the end of the day, it’s the people and the love that matters to us, not having granite countertops, vaulted ceilings, and extra bedrooms that we don’t need. If that’s important to others, then God bless! We all have our priorities in life. Financial stability is infinitely more valuable to me than an impressive house.

The US needs more mixed housing options for people that don't desire large homes with two and three car garages. We really need to break up zoning laws and allow neighborhoods with both small & big homes alongside modest condo and apartment buildings. Starter homes should be much easier to find.

What a wonderful, loving couple. They really went into this with a great attitude, and gave 100% with every challenge. They also took responsibility for the mess they got themselves into, unlike some couples who blame each other (or blame anyone or anything). And it just makes a person feel good watching two people who have been together for eight years, have two kids and very stressful jobs, and yet they're so loving and supportive of each other. This is one couple I don't need an update on because I have the feeling they've done very well over the years!

She has been clear in other episodes you need enough money to cover your basic expenses. She can’t get someone to manage money they don’t have. Often there is way to reduce spending but when there’s a mismatch on money coming in and money going out something needs to change…and that’s not her responsibility. If you have very limited money coming in you may need to change your living situation or rely on family. But she can’t do that for you.

I am widowed after 51 1/2 years of marriage and live very comfortably. I even put 30% of my income into a savings account. It's put aside in case I end up in a nursing home later in life and no one will have to support me. No kids so I have had to rely on myself.

When I see those videos I recognize that my asset is my rational view on my spendings and savings...
House almost paid off, investments for all three kids settled, investment for retirements on track and a lovely even rational wife. 🎉🎉🎉

How can you help a single mom living on a teacher salary???

The average teacher salary these days is pretty decent 58k. The Northeast pays very well and many teachers make near or over 100k. Get in the best district/area as possible.

150,000 sound like a decent amount but them the Canadian govt takes 40 percent or more. They pay high Canadian but real high province taxes.
