I actually saw this theory on Instagram (can't remember by who) that like when Wilbur died his soul split in two. (Ghostbur: all his kindness and regret at what he had done) and (Vilbur: all of his insanity and evil intentions). And Wilbur said that he and Ghostbur switched spots, farther driving home the idea that Wilbur's soul is split in two. Which is why Wilbur doesn't care about Tubbo, or if he does it's only a little bit. So yeah! I agree, all of his goodness DID die with Ghostbur.

Wilbur feels incredible guilt, you just don't want to look for it or see it. - Wilbur saying he could have saved tubbo during the lmanburg anniversary stream. his face cam shows him making an expression of pain. - tubbo telling Wilbur about his nightmares of the festival and Wilbur, again, in face cam, covering his face and making a noise of discomfort (though it also could be his own PTSD being triggered) - tubbo setting his boundaries and asking for Wilbur to leave him alone, and Wilbur not arguing with him and leaving (again, looking at face cam, he has an expression of concern) - most recent stream, he admitted feeling guilty about lying to tommy about how much he cared about lmanburg, not wanting it to be used against him (like dream once used tommy's attachments against him) and says he eventually wants to tell him the truth - admitting that he regrets his actions in pogtopia and how he treated tommy, says he was not a well man, and that he wants to grow you guys are so used to emotions being spelled out for you a-la tommy's acting or ranboo's acting but when it comes to Wilbur his acting is largely facial, because his character doesn't trust anyone enough who only listens to his voice. like wilbur's reddit post says, what Wilbur wants most is to be seen as a person. to have his flaws be recognized and to have the chance to fix them. he spent 13 years in hell and you think he'll immediately be good??? the problem with limbo is that it's stasis. an in between, no way to move forward and no way to go back. Wilbur killed himself angry and he stayed angry for a decade. there's no ability for growth or healing when locked away by yourself- only regression. (or bitter rumination at best) now he can see the sunrise again, can taste again, can live and feel alive again. it's a slow process but he Is getting better. (he's setting boundaries at least, along with everyone else.) goodness is not a set attribute. it changes and shifts depending on experience. yes a part of Wilbur is dead for good, but when Wilbur was revived he made it painstakingly clear that ghostbur was still *part* of him. whether he wants it or not. (think of it like Caroline and GLaDOS)
Wilbur doesn't blame himself for Tubbo's death, he openly acknowledged that it was his fault, but he doesn't feel guilty for it, he expected Tubbo to act like everyone else, to accept Wilbur's apology then to do what Wilbur asked so he could keep an eye on him, he was extremely disoriented when Tubbo didn't do this, but was also rather excited at the same time, however, his excitement died immediately when he realized Tubbo was working with Quackity, but despite all that, despite him knowing full well that Tubbo joined Quackity because it was Wilbur's fault he got exploded by fireworks Wilbur still doesn't feel guilty, in fact, he feels the opposite, because TECHNICALLY Quackity was the one who told Techno to do it the first place, but Tubbo is aware that Quackity was also being pressured by Schlatt, Wilbur is aware of it to but he refuses to acknowledge it, and that's why Wilbur will lose, because he won't take responsibility for anything and if he doesn't he doesn't bother trying to do something to help, he gives them a false promise and moves on
How was it Wilburs fault he got fireworked? He had no armor, no proper weapons, nothing. He fully believed that Techno was their ally and that he wouldn't hurt him, hence why he acted to weirdly afterwards. Wilburs paranoia had been growing since Eret's betrayal, had gotten far far worse after being exiled, what with everyone he loved, including his son, at the very least acting as if they turned on him, and in his mind, this was clear confirmation for what his paranoia had been telling him all along, that everyone was out to betray him. Even if he had stepped in, the only thing that would've happened was that he would've been immidiately killed and the execution would've continued on as normal. Even when he stepped in to prevent Niki's death, he just got shot immidiately. Also, you'd have to actually prove that Wilbur doesn't take accountablity for anything, or isn't ACTUALLY sorry, since both his actions during the stream, saying he didn't want to string Tommy along since he was sorry for what he said to Tommy during pogtopia, something that, might I add, he said to Ranboo, someone who wouldn't have otherwise known what Wilbur was like back then, going around basically apologizing to everyone he hurt, and, in Tubbo's case, saying he'll prove that he'll change for the better and being completely accepting of the fact that Tubbo can't trust him yet, he's taken aback by it, of course, but, as said, his answer is that he'll prove he's trustworthy. I don't know what you expect when you say he should take accountability I guess, he's going around apologizing for what he's done, clearly and obviously, at least trying, to say "Yes I am very accountable for all of these things", even those he obviously couldn't have done anything about like Tubbo's execution. You'd also have to give me actual examples of Wilbur being this horrible manipulator, considering that the only times he's been shown to even lie was when he told Tommy he never cared for l'manburg, but that was because he was afraid to show weakness, not because everything he says is obviously just a lie to manipulate those around him. Ranboo exploding part of Las Nevadas wasn't manipualtion either, by the way, Wilbur literally just asked him to do something and Ranboo immediately caved in without Wilbur pressuring him, without having to lie or put anything at stake. If you ask someone to do something, and they immediately do it without declining, and then it turns out they never really wanted to do it, you're not manipulating them. Wilbur hasn't been perfect obviously, the way he's treated Ranboo is still awful, and he does still have to apologize, and actually make the effort to show that he's changed, to Tommy, along with hopefully Fundy, but he is far from some horrible evil manipulator, and, in my opinion, we can safely say that he's earnest about blaming himself for Tubbo's Death.
The thing is it's not Wilburs fault. If tecnhoblade someone in full netheright armor couldn't do anything what makes you think Wilbur is no armor could do shit? Thats just a comparison because I know Tecnho was also pressured into it. But it's shlatts fault he ordered the goddam execution.
