Thanks for all of the videos, @Sven Dännart. Is so small aperture really necessary? Have you notice visible difference over higher aperture like f9 - f16? Haven't you registered diffraction which can cause blur in the end? I'm asking because also struggling with depth of field - to get as much object in the frame as possible and to get best sharpness. I suppose 70mm is value of zoom as you called it kitlens. By the way, what was value of shutter speed regarding this aperture and ISO? :)
Hello. You are right, f36 was maybe a bit much. Nowadays I try to stick around F11-F16 if possible, because the photos get noisy and darker and blurry around the corners with higher fstop numbers. But It also depends on how much light you have in your scene. About shutter speed: I´m using the program mode, so the shutter speed will be selected by the camera depending on the other settings.
Hi Sven, really appreciate these alignment series! Question: I noticed that you are alignment the chunks relative to each other, but you are not aligning the chunks/objects according to the viewport space. (Hope that makes sense) Do you know if that matters, or helps the alignment of chunks in any way?
Hi Sven. I tried aligning chunks but my models aren't coming together. I took ground photos from a DSLR camera and aerial from a drone. Is there anything I can do to bring the 2 together?
I myself made some testscans of buildings with 2 different cameras. It´s working, but a bit more difficult for some reasons. If your scans are overlapping enough and the quality of the photos is ok, I think it should work as well. Please note: The merge chunks function is only suboptimal working. Try the method I used at the end of the video (from 10:44). If you want, you can sent me the photos and I can have a look on them. You can sent for example via wetransfer to svenart@gmx.de
@@svendaennart Thank you for the reply. I was able to make it work by adding manually 4 points in each chunck. Dunno if this feature works on the standard version of Agisoft Metashape. I added 4 distinct points in each chunck and I was able to merge the drone shots with the DSLR.
@@svendaennart turns out there is a problem. The mesh has now overlapping facets. It looks good on Agisoft Metashape but it can't run in any other software. I tried to export it in many different formats and settings and it is not working properly. It glitches
@@christosandreev6392 Sounds strange, I never experienced such a problem. If the Mesh maybe very large? try to reduce the polycount in metashape to smaller than 3 mio and it should run. Use obj format to export. Wich 3d app have you used to import the model?
@@svendaennart the model is not that big. I even created the mesh and point cloud on low settings. I tried to import the exported model to Blender, Meshlab, Adobe substance diffuser (tried obj and glb) and even Adobe acrobat (pdf). I can only properly see the model in Adobe acrobat, however, when I try to go around with the mouse it jumps like crazy. There's some kind of glitch going on. Never had this issue on a single chunck model. My hypothesis is that two things can cause such disturbance: a) geodata of the two datasets (the DSLR doesn't capture altitude while drone does) b) overlap of the meshes is causing issues. Tried to reduce overlap from a menu in Metashape but no luck. Will try more things tomorrow.
Hi Sven..what’s the differences in the photos scanning process of this waffle compares to the other 2 alignment tutorials that make this waffle scan is not able to do auto alignment..?misplacement of the object or the camera settings..?
Hey. Yes, Sometimes (often) the auto alignment is not working very good. And in some cases even worse (flat objects for example, or objects with repetitive patterns). In Part1 I´m showing how to do it with an "easy" object. Part2 is a bit more detailed and in Part 3 I´m showing another technic at the end of the video. After doing more than 300 scans, I can say now that I only use Merge Chunks if everything else fails. Btw: In the pro version you can use markers, which makes it more easy.
Amazing ! Thanx
